I cannot express enough how good this weekend was. The care taker Cheryl was extremely detailed in her tour. The "book” that she keeps in the study literally has every detail that you could need, spelled out for you. Restaurants, take out, delivery, the FAQ’s of the house’s movie theatre, etc , etc ,etc We enjoyed the pool and Jacuzzi and barely left the poolside room that contained the bar, large screen TV (March Madness) and pool table. When we did leave the dinner and bar recommendations were excellent. I look forward to my next visit and hope that Cheryl never decides to keep this home to herself.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

For the extraordinary celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary with our three daughters and their husbands, and our seven grandchildren, we found an extraordinary site! The Chateau de Peppertree was everything we envisioned and more. The wonderful house was not only luxurious and beautifully decorated, it was furnished with everything we could possibly need to make it a comfortable place for us all to stay in for the five days we were there. The smallest details were taken care of; we could even help ourselves to the collection of spices in the kitchen. It did not take very long for us to feel quite at home. The children particularly loved the pool and spa. Cheryl was a joy to deal with, a most gracious and helpful host. Whenever we needed anything, like a recommendation for a caterer for a celebratory dinner on the lawn, she was a knowledgeable and easily available resource. We really appreciated that personal touch.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had lots of fun staying at this wonderful property. There were 12 of us, and the well-stocked house was easily big enough for us all. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful pool and spa area. We ate many of our meals poolside, and there were lots of available pool toys for the children. Cheryl was a perfect hostess, always available to answer questions or solve small problems. We stayed so busy with beaches and local attractions that we didn't have nearly enough time to enjoy the theater. It's a great place for a family reunion!Did you find this review helpful? We had a wonderful stay at Le Chateau de Peppertree in mid-July. It all starts with Cheryl, the owner. Words cannot describe what a wonderful, kind, caring and helpful person she is. From making sure that everything associated with the house was perfect, to giving advice on activities to do in the area, to coordinating our wedding, she was simply amazing! My wife, Gloria, thinks of Cheryl as her fairy godmother. The estate was as advertised, yet everything was so much better in person. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were the focal points of our stay and were so relaxing. The grounds were immaculate. The den with the pool table was enjoyable. The 5 bedrooms were luxuriously comfortable. The gourmet kitchen was to die for. The movie theater was an excellent place to unwind. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable week and we look forward to returning in the future. I highly recommend this estate to be used as a location for a production. In a moment of panic of not having a place for a planned family trip to San Juan Capistrano I made an early phone call to the owner of this beautiful home. She listened to my situation and quickly became a friend helping me get through a difficult day determining what actions to take. The following day, our family decided to take the trip and ask Cheryl if we could rent her French Chateau Estate, although she already had family planning on visiting the Chateau. She quickly made arrangements for her family and agreed to rent to us. What a blessing. During the following days, the owners could not have been nicer, they sent specific traveling directions for each group; shared what was available in the area and had brochures for us; and encouraged us to enjoy the home to the fullest including the movie collection, the beautiful Christmas decorations; and the wonderful professional chief kitchen. We arrived with three families, five little girls to find every thing in place for us including high chairs, stroller, and baby beds and clear instructions on working on the equipment. It was so easy to quickly get settled and start enjoying our wonderful time in this absolutely fabulous home. Our comfort and enjoyment was the high priority. Cheryl checked on us some and quickly responded when we needed help with the heater in the pool. We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning to San Juan Capistrano again to visitl. Terrific home in which to spend our week-long vacation. Plenty of space for our group of 15. Highlights of the home are the large kitchen, movie theater, great room with pool table, and the gorgeous outdoor spaces. Additionally, the home is in a beautiful area- just minutes to the beach, and a reasonable drive to San Diego/LA areas. The owner, Cheryl, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the house with a small group of high school friends - to get together, have some food, drinks, and share some great times together. Done. What a phenomenal "house"/ aka "compound". This is such a lovely estate. It has everything you could ever want and would never need to leave the estate! The pool is beautiful. It's large, but it has all the warmth you want from a "home" environment. The bedrooms are beautiful and nicely decorated. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the kitchen and the Movie Room. Wow. It was all so incredible and I would highly recommend this home. A few of us had a small class reunion last weekend at this property and what a great time we had. This French chateau is beautiful inside and out. The movie theater is first class and the pool backyard is reminiscent of a 5 star hotel. House was immaculate and looked professionally decorated. The most interesting characteristic however is it's quiet. Inside and out is so peaceful. I highly recommend this property. You won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: My husband and I met and fell in love after being introduced to each other by my daughter and his niece (sorority sisters), towards the end of 2003. We purchased the estate in SJC after spotting it on an outing and falling head over hells for it. It was the perfect place for our combined five adult children to visit us and it's close proximity to the beach made it the ideal vacation destination. We had our fairytale wedding on the private grounds in 2006, after completing a full remodel from the ground up. We remain dedicated to the home today and would like to share it with others. It's got a specialness about it that's hard to describe. Come see for yourself, we'd love to have you!
Why the Owner Chose San Juan Capistrano:
San Juan Capistrano is centrally located in a bedroom community of Orange County, CA. It's proximity to the charming conveniences and character of the historical downtown area along with it's two minute drive to the harbor or ten minute drive to Laguna Beach make it the perfect spot for vacationing. It's only 25 minutes from the closest airport and only one hour to L.A. or San Diego. Equally attractive, one can go skiing in the nearby mountains or bask in the sun of Palm Springs within a couple hours drive.

This property is truly a 'one of a kind' world class property with all the lavish things one could want. The privately gated grounds are very peaceful with large patios for entertaining, an inviting pool and spa, BBQ area and separate gated place for the dogs should you like to bring them along. We enjoy watching movies in the lavish theater, playing pool in the great room, hiking the horse trail or cooking gourmet meals in a kitchen designed for a professional chef. We love the short trip into town for the exquisite restaurants & antique shopping. Sometimes we'll even hop on the train, conveniently located downtown and head to San Diego for the day (only an hour). Lastly, who could not love being around the corner from the harbor and beaches. Laguna Beach is a favorite day & night spot but so nice to be able to escape the crowds and return home to our little slice of heaven, the chateau.
