What started as fantasy when we passed the villa 3 years ago on a boat finally turned into a wonderful reality. We have spent the last seven days at shinning Sounion II. It's amazing how much time you can spend admiring the views - watching the birds, boats and the colours of the land, sky and sea change throughout the day. When we have managed to drag ourselves away from the villa, we have enjoyed great food at Corsairs (Great Harbour) and Harris' Place (Little Harbour) - great lobster salad and cocktails. We also had lovely evenings at Foxy's Taboo which we hiked to under moonlight - sheer joy! We very much hope to return to this piece of paradise so we can once again savor the natural beauty of Jost Van Dyke. A very big thank you to Nadine and Leroy for their kindness and help with all our arrangements.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We've been coming to Sandy Ground almost every year since 1992. Each visit would draw us to this magnificent point of land to fantasize what we would do with "Sounion" if she were ours. Our fantasies are alive! Everything we hoped for is now here! What an excellent job!!! We couldn't be more pleased with every thought that went into the "new" Sounion. Now that Sounion is as we would want - we have other questions to ponder! (1) Does a morning cup of coffee taste better gazing from the master bed or gazing out from the pergola? (2) Does doing the dishes at the sink looking out to Green Cay and Little Jost become a treat - instead of a task? (3) Does rum ever taste this good back home? (4) Is it better to watch the sunrise over the sea, or watch the full moon over Tortola? (5) Are there extra points if you do both on the same day? (6) Is there a paint chip at Home Depot called "Caribbean Blue" that will actually look like what we see off of the deck at Sounion? (7) Does the BVI have its own constellation? Thanks so very much for making our 2011 visit to Sandy Ground so special.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

20 years at Sandy Ground, our first time at Sounion II. What an extraordinary treat! The gorgeous decks and woodwork; the expanse of sea and sky in every direction - it's like a dream. The privacy and connection with nature here is so compelling that we keep coming back, and feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience Sounion. The house, and Sandy Ground, are very special.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our first adventure to the BVI! What a wonderful experience for us; the weather was outstanding, Sounion exceeded all of our expectations with its beautiful vistas and thoughtful layout of the house and decks. We had the opportunity to meet two of the owners ... a chance to hear about Sandy Ground's history, which made our stay even more special. Nadine and Leroy helped us through our airport luggage "swap" fiasco on our first day, navigating something totally foreign to us ... we are very grateful. The memories we carry home with us: waking to the sunrise over Tortola, coffee on the decks and watching the boats arriving for a day at Sandy Cay, and our very own idyllic beach. We so look forward to coming back ... hopefully to share this experience with our grown children. Thank you for sharing your home with us, David!Did you find this review helpful? Words cannot describe how wonderful this week has been. Our first trip together to the BVI and we hope it won't be our last. A full moon provided wonderful light each night for dinner. The weather was perfect - it broke our east coast winter. Leroy indulged us by putting up not one but four hammocks - our favorite spot on the beach. We delighted in waking each morning to exclaim "still beautiful"!. And it was - from waking to the sunrise to watching the moon rise above Sandy Cay - a relaxing, re-uniting, amazing trip. Thank you for sharing this place with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This is our 2nd stay at the new Sounion II and our 4th at Sounion. We have been coming to Sandy Ground for many years and now with the amazing transformation you have done with the villa we will definitely be returning here again and again. This place has always been magical. In the day to day madness of life we cling to thoughts of Sandy Ground - its seclusion and serenity and when we will next return to keep us "copacetic".You've taken the basic beauty that was the old Sounion and evolved it into your new vision which is spectacular! It is so wonderful how you have managed to preserve the "old bones of Sounion II". What's more you have done it with such style. Every appointment here is top notch. David, thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We will continue to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Sandy Ground Estates and Sounion II was the perfect place to de-stress and escape some of the fierce Canadian winter. We loved watching the pelicans and all the boats sailing past the villa. This was our 2nd trip to the BVI and we were happy to have such a spectacular and comfortable place to call home for a week. As fantastic as the setting is, it is really Nadine & Leroy who make it a "home away from home." We cannot thank them enough for their care and attentiveness. We hope to be back very soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Staying on the estate was an unforgettable experience. The house itself is not huge, but well laid out. There were 4 of us staying when I visited, so I stayed with a friend in the "garden bedroom". This is a building separate from the main house which was houses a bedroom and private bath. This building may be just a bit tight, but it has 2 private outdoor places of its own (a deck and a lanai) which both have wonderful views and privacy. The view from the shower in the garden bedroom is not to be missed- it's absolutely gorgeous! The main house has many outdoor spaces and lots of space to spread out. The decks are expansive and the views in every direction are amazing. My favorite spot? A short walk down to the beach which leads you to the perfect spot to gaze at the water and watch the birds: resting on one of the loungers underneath the dense canopy of one of the many sea grape trees- magical! Sounion is a very special place on the planet to be sure.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
