My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our extended weekend getaway. The house was exactly as decribed, with wonderful views from the back deck. It was great way for us to get some much needed relaxation by sitting by the fire and watching the snow fall. We found the downtown area of Waynesville quite enjoyable and were still close enough to enjoy a day trip to Asheville to visit the Biltmore house. There are quite an assortment of scenic drives in the area and we recommend visiting many of the waterfalls in Transylvania county. The owner was very prompt in responding to our request that was less than a week away from when we wanted to visit. This is definitely a place that we look forward to returning to, especially with friends and family. The setup of the home is ideal for family members who may have difficulty climbing stairs on inclines in mountainous areas.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad you had a great time in the mountains and I appreciate for the tip on the waterfalls. I haven't had a chance to visit Transylvania County yet. Hope to hear from you again when you're ready to plan your next trip.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving family reunion at this beautiful property. Three families with 5 kids and nothing but room. Everything about this property seemed ready made for our stay - plenty of beds, fireplaces, games, lots of outdoor space, and beautiful views. The kitchen was stocked with almost everything we needed to cook a traditional turrkey dinner and plenty of room at the table and bar for everyone to sit. All in all, a great reunion at a fantastic property.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful time at this home, it is absolutely beautiful, It was very clean and comfortable. It is easy to get to and we plan on returning many more times and have already referred a friend. You have a fantastic view from every spot in the house. We did not go out to eat once.....we did go to Maggie Valley and picked up dinner and took it back to the house one night. You can not go wrong staying here. It is better than the pictures, believe it or not....IRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the referral. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at our home and look forward to having you as our guests again.

Thank you so much for allowing an opportunity to share your wonderful North Carolina mountain home with our family. Our experience there was everything we had hoped for and much more. The drive to the house was enjoyable as the roads were excellent and the views were beautiful. The house was amazingly clean and comfortably with great and relaxing views. On our second and third day, we enjoyed snow, then it was sunny and clear for the rest of the time. The house is perfectly located in a great area and within a short driving distance to Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Ashville and other great locations, We had a great time!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you were able to get away with your family and enjoy the peacefulness this area provides. You're welcome back anytime. Bet you weren't expecting snow in October, huh?

We have been to the Waynesville area for a week in October for the past three years. This is the third of three very nice places we have stayed at with two other couples. We all agree that this was the best of the three.Recommended for: Sightseeing
Owner response: It's #1 in my book, too! Hope to have you as our guests from now on.

Although there were only two of us renting this house, I would recommend this to families for the ample space. We used the 2 bedrooms upstairs but there were two more downstairs. It's nice that there are two separate living rooms so that people can spread out and not feel on top of each other. The place was very clean. On site laundry is a plus. I originally told Marilyn that I was coming out to this area to get an idea of where I wanted to retire in about 12 years. She went out of her way to tell me that she could help me with any information I needed for the local area. The neighborhood is so nice and quiet. The views are spectacular. Now I understand what people mean when they refer to "pastoral views". You get this type of view and you get views of the mountains. The kitchen is stocked for those that wish to make all their own meals. We actually stumbled upon a great Italian restaurant in Waynesville on Main St. called Pasquale's Pizzeria. The food is fantastic! The house is as pictured-no surprises. Marilyn responded promptly by either answering the phone immediately or responding to a voice mail regarding some minor questions. After the sun goes down when it's relatively quiet, when you do hear sounds they echo quite a bit. So I had to laugh when I heard a dog bark in the distance followed immediately by a cow mooing. When you live near a big city, these peaceful sounds are a nice change of pace. Did the Greyline Trolley tour in Asheville and would recommend it. If you like theatre, go to the Flat Rock Playhouse. Saw Zelda and it was right up there with many Broadway shows I've seen. Take a boat ride on Lake Lure. The lake is gorgeous! Afterward, go to the top of Chimney Rock. Talk about spectacular views! Of course the Blue Ridge Parkway never fails to impress me. All in all, my stay was very enjoyable and this is a property I would stay at again in the future. Lots of house and space for the price.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful review of our home. We agree that it is a splendid location with spectacular views all around. Also, thanks for the tip on the restaurant. We'll be sure to check it out on our next visit.

Great location.fantastic weather and a home away from home that fit all of our needs. We venture out each year via VRBO and we have always had great picks but this was the first time we both stated that we could live in this area and in this home. The home had all the bells and whistles and the location was easy access to Waynesville, the Blueridge Pkwy,Ashville and the Smokies. We spent a good deal of time on the second deck porch enjoying the views and the clear mountain air minus that Florida humidity.Windows open and no AC! Our two retired Cairn terriers loved the deck! This is a large home and we never did get down stairs to really do anything but it would be great for big families and we certainly would return in a heart beat. Two weeks was to short a time frame and a month would be just right. Just a final note on Dean's restaurant at the Shell station on Rt.209, the breakfast 2x4 will fill anyone up.Great chow and friendly people. Thanks Marilyn for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so happy to hear when guests have taken advantage of everything this area of North Carolina has to offer. We're envious, too as we're looking forward to sitting on that deck and enjoying the peacefulness that surrounds it sometime in the near future. And thanks for the tip on Dean's Restaurant. We'll definitely check it out. Hope to hear from you again soon.

We totally enjoyed our week's stay at this beautiful property. The house was immaculate and had all of the amenities to make a great vacation. There is plenty of room for a large group and places for people to congregate. We would switch from the back deck, to the front porch, to the lower deck and enjoyed them all. The view is fabulous and you don't have to drive up a death-defying road to get there. It was so peaceful and relaxing that we hesitated to go on any excursions. We did enjoy Sliding Rock one day and tubing at Bryson City another, but we couldn't wait to get back "home". We ended up cooking most of our meals as the kitchen had everything we needed. We even grilled out a couple of times. However, there are some great restaurants close by if one does not want to cook. Our dog, Kaylee, loved the property as well. We enjoyed watching the cows and horses off in the distance too! We were very pleased to find such a lovely home that allowed dogs. If you do decide to rent this house, you won't regret it. However, if you have a dog, take care of the place like your own because Kaylee and and the rest of us want to go back soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, Andy, and I, along with 2 other couples came for an extended weekend April 27-30th. It was absolutely perfect. The neighborhood was pristine, the neighbors were kind, and views were exceptional. I truly would not change a thing. We adored the house and there was plenty of space for all 6 adults and 1 baby, there was even one bedroom to spare. The house was immaculate, with tons of windows to take in the stunning views from both the front and back of the house. We read, grilled, and ate dinner on the large back porch everyday and enjoyed wine and cheese on rocking chairs on the front porch one afternoon. It was such a lovely and comforting stay, even the weather cooperated perfectly for our weekend getaway. The house is close enough to town that it isn't a hassle at all to run to the store and go visit nearby shops and hiking trails, yet it is far enough removed that you can't hear a single sound of traffic or see any signs/buildings from the neighborhood. I simply CANNOT wait to return again a.s.a.p.!Owner response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the time away from work and studying. Our doors are always open to you and your family.

We stayed here with two other couples last year. We found this home to have everything needed for an absolutely wonderfull vacation. It is in the mountains yet close enough to Waynesville to go out for dinner or do some shopping at some of the quaint shops. We especially enjoyed the piece and quiet as well as the view. Nothing better than sitting on the deck early in the morning having a cup of coffee. Going back this June we cannot wait.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
