  We took a family vacation over spring break with three children ages 3, 10, 15. Ariel Dunes is a very nice, well maintained complex. The condo was perfect for our family. I must say, I am very hard to please when it comes to places to stay- so when I say that this place is nice, it is nice. I will only stay in newer and VERY clean resorts. We actually booked our vacation last minute and due to a cancellation were able to reserve this location. Plenty of room, king size bed in the bedroom, twin size bunk beds and a queen sofa sleeper which was perfect for our teenager. Two bathrooms and full size washer and dryer! Fully equipped with everything a family needs, including a vacuum and broom (perfect for me). Beach is a short walk and I do mean short. It is actually a nice walk over the boardwalk - the little lake is full of ducks, turtles, frogs and more. Less than 5 min until we were relaxing in our Alvin's Island purchased beach chairs (recommended). Otherwise it is $40/day to rent two beach chairs. Walking distance to everything (shops, restaurants, etc). One location I would definately recommend (about 5 miles down off of Hwy98) is "Baytown" in SanDestin (Hilton Complex) look for the water tower/turn left at the light - amazing villiage with a TON to do for all ages! Zip Lining, Ropes Course, amazing restaurants, etc. An absolute must! Pools were nice, we only used the heated pool in Tower I, the other 4 pools were rather chilly. Spent most of our time at the beach. Traffic was a bit crazy on HWY 98, avoid it if at all possible during the busy season. It did rain a couple of days but we just spent our time site seeing and at the outlet malls. Malls were very busy (normal when it rains). To our surprise, the elevators were very quick, not used to that in a high-rise complex. Grounds were well maintained. Very family friendly and quiet. Never had an issue with noise. Owners were more than wonderful! Email was a great way to stay in contact, very prompt with their responses. We extended our stay due to some rain, and it worked out perfectly. Overall, I would definately recommend this place to anyone. We will more than likely be back! Destin is the place to be for families during Spring Break and Ariel Dunes is a great location for families with children of all ages.

  We are a retired couple and spent 5 months in this well equiped condo. Great pots & pans for home cooking. The new bed is very comfortable. Big flat screen TV which the owners let us upgrade so we could get extra sports channels. They were very helpful and responded to our questions in a timely manner. The views overlooking the lake and cabins below, extend out beyond the balcony to the breathtaking Gulf. It's a beautiful site opening the drapes every morning looking out to the crisp shinny water. We used the exercise facilities frequently. The complex is kept clean by friendly attentive staff. Spent many nights at the Cabana Cafe bar & restaurant which is 3 minutes away. Hopefully we can come back..

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, age 55+.

  This is an excellent condo with a great view of the ocean. We stayed for a week and everything was excellent. My family had a great time bunk beds for perfect for adults or kids. Plenty of room and the owners were excellent to work with. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

  We had a wonderful vacation, but not a great stay. The unit is very small(less than 600 Sqft).Spacious enough or a couple, if you are travelling with kids, forget it. The unit is 1/4 mile away from the beach, but it says gulf view. The bed is very old and sluggish, makes lots of spring noice, every morning you get up with a sore back. Bunk beds are large enough for an 6ft adult, but its very sluggish, you feel sleeping in a airbed. The owners should have updated with LCD tv's they still have the TUBE!!. The couch is worn out and not even good for sitting. The owner's never returned calls once you checked in. Over all we had a nice time outside the room. If this is what you want you book this room.

  Owner response: Dear Future Renters: The renter who wrote this review was disgruntled because he wanted to cancel his reservation and receive a full refund just a few days before his arrival. We could not accommodate this request due to the short notice. The Gulf views are exactly as pictured in the listing. No, the condo is not Gulf-front, but we do not represent that it is. The square footage of the condo is 732 square feet and yes, it is cozy for a large family. Again, we do not mis-represent this in any way. As for being responsive, you will not find a more responsive owner or property manager than us. As for the furniture complaints, one person's opinion about the comfort-level of a mattress is highly subjective. However, we are moving forward with replacing the king sized mattress, the pull out sofa, and even updating the TV to a 32" LCD. The bunk beds are designed for children, not adults. There is no space for box springs, and therefore they are not super comfortable for adults. We have had many happy renters who have stayed in this condo and thoroughly enjoyed it. We believe that this renter's comments are directly attributed to the fact that we would not accommodate his request for a full refund only 4 days prior to his arrival. We are absolutely confident that you will thoroughly enjoy the accommodations of this condominium and you and your family will want to return again.
