This summer we held our family reunion at Duneswalk Inn and it truly was a fantastic experience. All families fit comfortably in the Inn. It was clean, quite and perfectly located in the Indiana Dunes near Chesterton, Michigan City ,and the Indiana Dunes beaches. The rooms were equipped with kitchenettes that were used for cooking for family meals. We dined out one night in Chesterton and spent a afternoon at the zoo in Michigan City. The kids enjoyed playing in the large meadow on the property. We hope to make DunesWalk Inn our location for our annual family reunion.

Living in Northwest Indiana my entire life, it is easy to take the wonder and beauty of the Dunes for granted. Dunes Walk Inn at Furness Mansion reminded me of how special of a place it is. Stepping onto the perfectly manicured lawn of Dunes Walk Inn is like stepping into a world a million miles and years away. The history of the surrounding town blends perfectly with the modern interior and design of the Inn. Each floor boasts different colored walls in bold, fresh colors. The decor is modern and clean with the art on the walls telling the amazing history of the Inn and surrounding town. Set in a small town that has been nearly annexed to extinction, history dating back to the 1800s surround the Inn, and the owners have done an amazing job at embracing it while managing to create a beautiful and modern retreat. The beauty of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, miles of hiking trails and the million dollar houses of Beverly Shores are a few blocks and very short drive away. If you are looking for more things to do, straight down Rt 12 is the Lighthouse Premium Outlets and Blue Chip Casino. On a personal note, I had planned a beach wedding for April 1st and as a last minute idea booked the Porter Queen Room at Dunes Walk Inn. I am not much for paying to stay in a hotel when my home is 10 min away, however the Dunes Walk Inn saved my wedding day. The common room on the 2nd floor where our suite was allowed plenty of space to do finishing touches to favors and my bouquet. The common living room on the 1st floor allowed my husband to get dressed separately while I stayed on the 2nd floor with my girls. The sudden turn of weather (it was supposed to be 80 degrees. Ended up being 44) left us in a bind since we had planned to stay at the beach until dark but knowing I had a beautiful room at the Inn, our party of 8 headed back there, sat around the table on the 2nd floor while we celebrated our wonderful day. Laying outside, watching the stars with my new husband for hours was like being in our own little world. My hope is to return to Dunes Walk Inn every April 1st, as there is no other place I'd rather spend my anniversary, a place where everything is still, peaceful and simply perfect.

Great place for a family reunion!
Great place for a family reunion!
Our entire family gathered at DunesWalk Inn during the summer of 2011 and we had a enjoyable experience. The Inn is ideally located near beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, beautifully furnished, and ideal for a large family reunion. It is extremely comfortable, cozy, yet provided space and privacy need for our 5 families. The owners were extremely helpful with providing information on local attractions and were very accommodating. We highly recommend DunesWalk Inn.

Unexpected problems but a nice place
Unexpected problems but a nice place
My husband and I and our two children stayed at the DunesWalk Inn at the end of June 2011. We unfortunately had some unexpected problems that were handled as well as possible by the owners but our vacation was stressful and not as relaxing as we had hoped. The location of the inn is great being close to Lake Michigan and the dunes and beach were beautiful. Besides the problems we experienced the inn was comfortable and a nice place for a family to stay close to the beach.

Owner response: Julia and her family were very gracious to bear a malfunctioning air conditioner during one of the hottest spells of Summer 2011. As she reports, we sent in a repair team more than once to fix the problem, but unfortunately it was not resolved fully during their stay. A ceiling fan in the room provided some small relief. Soon after, the air conditioner was fixed completely and no further issues have risen. Prior to the family’s arrival, Julia requested a refrigerator in the room for necessities for their two small children (they reserved the only room in the Inn without a kitchenette), and we complied. We are sorry to hear about any stay at DunesWalk being stressful and invite Julia and her family back to appreciate fully the beautiful and serene surroundings of the Indiana Dunes. . .with air conditioning!
