You'll never have trouble finding activities and attractions in the Finger Lakes. Known as the Outdoor Lover's Paradise, there are unlimited recreational opportunities for the entire family. There are many antique stores, art galleries and theaters; and of course you can always visit one of the Finger Lakes region's famous wineries and a must try --- Grape Pie --- especially just a short distance down the road on Rt 21S at Monica's Pies. I can't say enough good things about this vacation rental. The property is beautiful and extremely well maintained. The home is spacious, clean and well stocked with everything you could need. It was so convinient to have a dishwasher and washer/dryer at my fingertips. The pictures don't do this place justice. Carolyn was very accommodating and always available if there were any issues. she gave great recommendations. I highly recommend the Ontario count park just a mile or two away which offered great hiking and we really enjoyed Hazlitt winery in Naples even though we are not red cat wine fans. Carolyn also had a chicken pot pie & grape bread from Monica's pies waiting for us when we arrived.

Owner response: We really enjoy our guests. What is great about having a vacation rental is all the great people we meet and how well they take care of the Guest House. Thank you so much for the kind words and for leaving the home in beautiful shape. We also have a new garbage disposal! We look forward to having you stay with us in the near future.

We were looking for a place close to the hill for a group of six people and this was a quick 5 minute drive to the hill. The accomodations were very nice on a big property tha is great to take a nice walk in the morning. The one night after coming back from skiing we were greeted by a herd of deer that roam the property. The area has some really great little wineries that are worth driving to. The one beside the Roots cafe is especially good, and a quick 10 minutes south on 21.

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We also appreciate that the place was left in great condition. Jim's South Bristol Guest House is in a great area close to skiing and wineries and great food. We love to see the deer and wildlife visit our 25 acres. Maybe not when they eat all the grapes but hey they need food too!

My husband, sons and I decided to enjoy our American Thanksgiving in the finger lakes region. We had been to a B&B in Canandaigua and really loved the region so thought this would be a nice, close getaway for the 4 of us (coming from Carlisle, Ontario). We looked at many properties and liked this one due to the acreage, reviews and overall cost. Carolyn from the outset was responsive and helpful and knowing that I was going to cook the family Turkey, immediately offered to provide a roasting pan large enough etc. We had an idyllic day for Thanksgiving and had everything we needed at the house to make our time special. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the fishing ponds, the views to the Lake and the outdoor firepit. The house was very comfortable, warm and clean. We can highly recommend this as an good choice if you are coming to the finger lakes region.

This was our first time staying at a vacation rental and I have to say that we couldn't have asked for anything better. From the time Carolyn greeted us and along with the tasty treats she left us, all in all a great experience. The property was beautiful and our golden retriever truly loved it. I think he is sad we are not there anymore. Our 2 year old had a great time as well. It was relaxing and the accommodations were absolutely wonderful. We are already talking about booking our trip for next year!

Owner response: We really appreciate all the wonderful things guests say about our guest house. Thank you so much for the compliments. The guests are important to us and it is our hope that they will feel right at home. Just a note to say to future travelers is that we do have a high chair and a port a crib(playpen) (with mattress pad and sheet) for the teeny tiny ones. We have some play things but would love to have some suggestions as to what we could have on hand for the kiddos to do should your day be rainy or snowy and you are housebound. Thank you again for the great review. Hope to see you again.

warm, welcoming and clean cottage. Carolyn greeted us and provided an orientation to the cottage. She even phoned when the power went out to make sure we were ok! A lovely quiche was left in the freezer, some basic food supplies helped us prepare yummy dinners. Wheelchair access was good, the bath bench sure helped, wide doors, large main bathroom all contributed to a lovely stay. The cycling was amazing in the area, quite country roads with large shoulders. Be prepared to climb hills though!

This is a terrific property. It is immaculate, probably the cleanest place we have ever rented! Plus it is dog-friendly, yet you would never know that when you enter because it smells clean and fresh. All amenities are provided, even quiche and the famous "grape bread" from Monica's pies were in the freezer for us. We were able to have our two small dogs run around the property, which includes ponds and a very nice patio area. You can even park your car in the garage! Owners are very helpful! The photos are very accurate, in fact this place is even nicer in person. Definitely would recommend this rental and would stay there again when returning to the Finger Lakes region.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We love that our guests feel comfortable and relaxed in our Guest House. We like to have something for guests to munch on and sometimes it is a little different from guest to guest. Sometimes in the winter instead of quiche we will have chicken pot pie. Unfortunately, sometimes I will forget to pick up the grape bread. We figure most of our guests have had a long trip and maybe won't feel like cooking or going out or even in the morning want to make it easy on themselves ergo the quiche or pot pie. Anyways, we just want our guests to feel comfortable in the beautiful hills of South Bristol.

Our family had a great time! The location was perfect as it is set between Naples and Canadaigua. The house was very clean, the frig was filled with water, a lovely grape bread by Monica's Pies was in the freezer (delish), and all kinds of coffee and teas. My son loved the fire pit! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Owner response: We love hearing from our guests. My brother Jim was a person who loved having people come and share his beautiful property, and we try to live up to his level of hospitality. We feel the property offers wonders for all even kids and pets. Kids love being able to have marshmallows over the fire pit. (there are even marshmallow, hot dog tongs for all to use) Also, seeing the kids looking at the large goldfish in the pond is always priceless.

My son's wedding was held this past weekend at Bristol Harbor Resort in Canandaigua, NY. The rehearsal dinner the night before was also held at Bristol Harbor so I decided to find a place to stay nearby that was more than a standard hotel room. Jim's South Bristol Harbor Guest House turned out to be a great location and perfect accommodations. The home was a little difficult to find as you cannot see if from the road. We past it and had to turn around. Once on the property, it was a little confusing to find the home. We were met by Mary who directed us to our destination. Signs directing you to the guest house would be very helpful. The exterior of the house looked like a very large garage or storage shed, but don't be fooled by the outside! One step into the kitchen area and you will feel right at home in this inviting guest house. The home was very spacious, impeccably cleaned and well stocked. The refrigerator filled with bottled water, the pantry stocked with k-cups for the Keurig coffee maker and the spinach and cheese quiche from Monica's pies were all unexpected and delightful additions! The ability to sleep six provided a perfect location for my son and his groomsmen to stay the night after the rehearsal dinner. The beautiful patio and grounds were my favorite spot to relax and enjoy an early morning cup of coffee while being serenaded by a chorus of song birds! We didn't have enough time to explore the region other than Bristol Harbor Resort, but the location is close to a number of wineries and shops as well as Bristol Ski Resort. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Owner response: Thank you we appreciate any suggestions guests have. We will be getting new signs soon so our guests will find the guest house easily. Yes, we are a "diamond in the rough", when first arriving but once there the patio with the flowers blooming and the birds singing is the most relaxing and tranquil area. Come to the Finger Lakes--there are lots of hidden gems in our hills.

Our stay at Jims South Bristol Guest Home was fabulous. The accomodation was every bit as lovely as the photos. It was very, very clean and well maintained. The decor was charming and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything that we could need. The outdoor patio was so lovely to spend and afternoon by the fire. I loved being able to bring our dog with us, and spent a lot of time just walking around the property. The heated floors gave the whole house a warm feeling. We are a family of four, so it was nice to be able to spread out and have enough room for all of us, not like being jammed into a hotel room. Carolyn, the host, was so lovely and friendly. She warmly welcomed us into her home and spent a good bit of time answering our questions and giving us advice about the area. She left us a number to contact her if we needed. We loved the skiing/snowboarding at Bristol Mountain, only 5 minutes away. We shopped at the outlet mall in Waterloo, about a scenic hours drive away. We loved Monicas pies and the Artizanns store in Naples. We definitely hope to go back again. This place has it all.

Owner response: We love having such wonderfully warm and friendly guests as all our guests are. The Finger Lakes are really great in any season. The home feels like a true home. It was lovingly decorated by my brother who loved to share his slice of heaven with everyone.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a relaxing vacation where we could enjoy the fall foliage. Not only was the rental clean and charming, but it had all the comforts of home plus the added touch of a fridge stocked with bottle water for us to enjoy. The property also has a backyard patio with a fire pit where you can relax in the comfy Adirondack chairs while taking in the breathtaking views of the mountains, ponds, and trees that surround you. We spent our time hiking, driving along Canandiagua Lake, and walking around Naples. It made for the perfect weekend retreat!

" The Bristol Springs Brand craft beers served exclusively at Brew & Brats at Arbor Hill were developed by a team of ten dedicated beer lovers who worked tirelessly at the end of our 2011 season to agree on the delightful balance of flavors found in our pale ale, IPA and porter. Our Frog Hollow Pale Ale, Gully Washer IPA and Turtle Crawl Porter are produced for us by Custom Brewcrafters of Honeoye Falls. Additionally, we always feature a seasonal CB beer offering on one of our other taps, along with arguably the most refreshing root beers anywhere. Arbor Hill has partnered with Hartmann's Old World Sausage from Canandaigua to offer nothing but the best in taste and quality when it comes to our brats. The featured sausage is made with Arbor Hill Sherried Wine BBQ Sauce which has been a staple at Arbor Hill almost since the winery opened in 1987 - due to the original formulation developed by Neapolitans Darryl Braun and Doug Preston.
