Nantucket Town cottage description
Fore Cottage is distinctively Nantucket. Built by an Island fisherman in 1927, the sunny and bright Cottage is located on a quiet lane in the historic district of town. It offers a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and eat-in-kitchen. Preserving its 'olde Nantucket feel', including the original polished pine floors throughout, it has been updated with all conveniences including a new bath and kitchen. A separate laundry room is in the basement. Perfect accommodations for a couple, or a single traveler. The living room sofa becomes a comfortable queen sized sofabed for an occasional overnight guest. Appointed with Nantucket art and antiques, guests will enjoy a serene and comfortable visit while on Island.
At the rear of the cottage a privet hedge creates a separate patio dining with table and chairs and a gas bbq. Off-street parking is included. If you prefer leaving your car at home, our convenient location affords walking to almost anything... It's an easy walk to popular local restaurants. A 15 minute walk brings you to Main Street shops and restaurants. Bike paths to Madaket and Surfside are steps from our lane. The Wave is nearby, should you wish to hop on and explore farther points on Island. The property is graced by lovely lavender, roses and hydrangeas. It is the perfect Nantucket guest cottage for a vacation or honeymoon. One small pet may be permitted, but please inquire first.

A Delightful Stay!
A Delightful Stay!
This adorable cottage fit the bill for us perfectly: clean, well-maintained and not too small. There's even a sweet backyard area, nice for starting the day with some coffee or using the outdoor grill in the evening. As the previous reviewers said, it is a bit of a walk to town, but really not that bad! And if we were feeling a little lazy we would just jump on the WAVE bus that stopped nearby. The owner graciously answered any pre-visit questtons we had and was a delight to meet in person (and, although she lives close by, she made it a point to give us our privacy). The icing on the cake is that we were able to bring our little dog! If we were asked for suggestions on what can be done to make a stay at this cottage better, we wouldn't be able to come up with anything. We're already planning our return visit for next year.

Perfect for a couple wanting to stay right near town!
Perfect for a couple wanting to stay right near town!
This was our first experience renting through VRBO.com. The owner of this property promptly answered all of our questions so that we felt confident booking our week. The cottage was exactly as advertised. It is sized perfectly for two people. The dishwasher, washer and dryer, gas grill and air-conditioning were all in perfect working order. The decor is charming. There are beautiful flowers in the window boxes and a nice little area to sit outside. From the cottage you can walk about a half mile to a Stop and Shop - not the tiny, busy one downtown. We also purchased a week's pass for the WAVE and took it to several different beaches. It was about a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk downtown. Although there is a parking space, we did not need a car and actually enjoyed a vacation from driving. I would recommend this adorable cottage to any couple that is happy to walk a bit. We'd love to go back.

About the owner: I've enjoyed living on the west and east coast and I'm now experiencing the South! I was an advertising executive in San Francisco, then New York City. I look forward to my summers on Nantucket. There's nothing else like it for me.
Why the Owner Chose Nantucket Town:
I fell in love with Nantucket many years ago, and kept coming to the Island for vacations. One spring while visiting the area I flew over to the Island with a friend and I fell in love with this little cottage and purchased it that weekend. I wanted my own little home on Nantucket. The air, the ocean, and the landscapes unique to Nantucket draw me back every year.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
An older Nantucket cottage which was owned and built by a fisherman in the late 1920's. A delightful and charming place to call your own while you are visiting our special Island. It is carefully preserved, yet updated, charming, and comfortable to ensure guests have a very pleasant stay. A spacious enough cottage very suitable for either one vacationer or a couple. Experience a part of Nantucket's unique fishing and whaling history with a vacation at Fore Cottage.
