You may have to speak a little louder at the "Old Fisherman's Cottage," as the sound of waterfalls abound at this unique vacation rental. The main cabin was built on 6 acres and only 50 feet from Beech Creek, where only the creek does the rushing.
The cabin's interior features native ash flooring, white pine paneling, and lodge decor. There are 4 bedrooms in the main cabin, two queens, one full, one full/twin bunk. The main cabin has a single bath. A large screened porch with table and chairs, a porch swing and other seating opens onto a sun deck then a short ramp to the pavillion, then to a rock patio and streamside hot tub. This cabin has all the comforts of home in a private wilderness setting.
A second cabin is available if needed. It features a queen bed, full bath with antique claw foot soaking tub, kitchenette and covered porch with rhododendron railing overlooking the waterfall. This charming, romantic getaway is elevated and has the feel of a tree house. It is finished with all native wood and cathedral ceiling. It has its on TV with Direct TV's full movie package. It is located only 50 feet from the main cabin yet retains its on privacy. Open the French doors and let the sound of the waterfall soothe you to sleep. The "Treehouse" does not rent separately to assure the privacy of our main cabin guest.
A streamside 6 person hot tub is set in a tanquil location just a few feet from the waters edge.
An old, abandoned, narrow gauge, rail bed provides a wonderful hiking trail up the creek. Great pool fishing on designated trout waters for miles upstream of the cabin. If you prefer to use a guide Foscoe Fishing Co's Orvis endorsed guides often frequent Beech Creek and can meet you on site, or book a float trip down the Watauga for world class trophy trout or smallmouth fishing.
Boating and lake fishing are six miles away on beautiful Watauga Lake. Skiing on Beech Mountain is seven miles away, along with world class restaurants and many other activities. Boone is 12 miles away with a multitude of amenities and activities.

We have stayed here before and each and everytime we do it is just wonderful. We love this location and recommend it for anyone who is staying near Boone. The creek is great, the kids loved the water and hot tub. We rented both cabins and you can bet we will be staying here again in the future. Great owner, great communication and service, thanks again

We decided to take a Winter vacation this year after Christmas and traveled from the beach. Needless to say, we arrived just in time after a pretty good snow storm. The cabin is cozy with wood from ceiling to floor. The gas stove was a very nice touch, and kept us very warm. We also enjoyed some time in the jacuzzi while the temperature was in the teens, LOL. And the stream behind us....absolutely perfect. We liked it so much, that we're planning to go back this Summer (hopefully)!! so we can go fishing and enjoy the outdoor surroundings on the back porch and the outside deck. As a person who works in the vacation rental business, I would definitly recommend this vacation spot for anyone looking for a nice place to stay. Thank you...........we had a wonderful time!

This was a nice well-sized cabin out in the hills. The creek and waterfalls were beautiful, but they were loud! Great outdoor amenities such as a screened eating and socializing area, plus the covered barbecue area with the hot tub nearby. The sign for the turnoff to the cabin was easily missed, and it was quite a distance from any shopping. If you're looking for isolation, a quiet family gathering and outdoor exploring, this is the place! Just bring your bug repellent, the mosquitoes are fierce!
Owner response:I have owned and enjoyed this property for 12 years and have never seen a mosquito. I even state in the literature there are no biting insects. I will be investigating this phenomenon as no renters have ever mentioned mosquitos before. The creek can be loud after a heavy rain but is normally soothing to most. Steve Nelson

The cabin was wonderful. We absolutely loved the swing by the creek. I can say it was the most comfortable swing I've sat in. Listening to the creek was very relaxing. There is a country store quite close by. Directions to Banner Elk, Buckeye Lake and Beach mountain were nice touches. We visited Linville Falls and Elk Falls, both great! I've only given it four stars because the couch was hard. Might not be a big thing for you, though. Other than that this cabin was everything we had hoped for.

This cabin is much prettier than the pictures. It is clean and very well maintained. After exploring Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain it was great to come back and relax in the hot tub. The kids loved finding crawdads, fish, and salamanders in the creek. Also, the back road drive to Banner Elk was beautiful. We would recommend this cabin to anyone, and can't wait to go back. Thank you so much Steve (Robin and Patsy). It was perfect!

Our family and a friends vacationed for a week at the cabin. We were very impressed with the beautiful creek. Our kids loved hiking up the creek, jumping over rocks and swimming in some of the deeper parts. The cabin was well stocked and was very comfortable. It was lovely listening to the sound of the waterfall day and night. We had fun fires in the outdoor pit and roasted a lot of marshmellows. The covered deck overlooking the creek was great and we all enjoyed the hot-tub - especially the kids. There is plenty of deck furniture to relax in and two porch swings. We visited the town of Boone a few times and had a lot of fun at Mast General Store (huge candy barrels) and the massive antique shop. The Boone Drug Co. has a fun lunch counter and soda shop. The cabin made for a wonderful retreat and we hope to return again sometime.

We had such a great time on our cabin getaway. With 2 kids (2 and 3.5 yr old boys), there was much fun to be had. Exploring up and down the stream, roasting marshmallows, and takig full advantage of the hot tub! We even captured a crawfish! Some great memories were made. We would love to come back during the summer!
