View +Big Private Dock and Your Own Sandy Beach, 4 BR Cabin
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
If you've ever wanted to wake up in an old fashioned lakeside cabin, with views of water sparkling below in your own sandy cove, while your boat waits for you on a private dock, this is the place for you.
This big A-frame looks directly down the lake from 2 expansive decks (an upper and a lower). The view has has been described as 'the best view on the Lake'. Make sure to bring your binoculars!
The house is extremely private with no houses on either side, and is surrounded by oaks and pines. There is level off street parking for 4 cars and plenty of off street parking.
Your rental includes 2 lots, side by side, and you have exclusive use of both lots. The house is on one lot, and sits higher to capture the views. The lot next door has the waterfront area and is accessed via a trail down from the house to the beach and dock. There is no building on the waterfront lot, and the lots appear to be one property (please see pictures to get a clear idea of the proximity of the house to the lake).
The beach area has a big U-shaped newer dock for your boats. There is also a sandy area with chairs and a picnic table so you can spend the day at the water. You may use our big red canoe or the 2 paddle boats to cruise around the lake. Wakeboard, water ski, jet ski, tube, kayak, or simply float or swim in the lake. The waterfront area is on slow water. You can launch around the corner at the homeowner's launch facility and will be approximately 5 minutes to the fast water.
There are 3 levels on the house, each level has a full bathroom. There are 2 master bedrooms, each with a king bed and a lake view. The other 2 bedrooms have a total of 3 queen beds. There are also 2 living areas so the kids can have their own space to play games and watch TV.
The dining area has a big round table that will seat 8. There is also a bar with 2 barstools and another table on the deck for dining. You will find a well-equipped kitchen and a china cabinet with everything you need to serve your group. There is also a Weber kettle on the deck.
We will consider one or two well behaved dog with an increase of $25 per dog to your rent. There is a large dog run that is off the lower deck so your pup can be outside in a secure enclosure.
The best thing about the house is the ability of the group to hang out and enjoy the vacation in so many different areas. Play on the beach and dock area, watch the action on the upper deck with the killer view, hide out and play cards on the lower deck (completely shaded with furniture and a porch swing), watch a movie in the game room, cook, talk, and drink wine in the main living area, or hide out in the loft to read or work on the computer (there is Internet access).
If you are a 'lake' person, a 'boat' person, or just someone who likes to have an 'in your face' view of water, this could be the perfect vacation for you.
SPECIAL NOTE: This rental is on the same street as VRBO rental 236862, so if you have a big group, and need 2 houses, please check out this rental. It is owned by a different family, but the 2 houses have been rented together on several occasions for family reunions, etc. and would give you 2 large private docks and an good expanse of beach area.

The good point, the house is nice and clean with a nice view of the lake. Now the bad points, the air conditioner does not work well, they only have one upstairs for a three story house... it did not keep up with the heat and the house got very hot and uncomfortable. The center was also broke which probably would have made a difference in circulating air. Another bad point about it is the location relative to the water, its a heck of a climb every day going from the lake to the house. Not even an option for elderly people. The dock is also right next to the launch ramp, which at times gets a little dicey with the traffic from people launching. I almost had someone run into my boat because they did not know how to launch there boat. The beach area is nice, but its so far to the house it turns into a major hassle to go outside and just sit in the water because of the distance and climb. They really need to add stairs for people, this would make a huge difference. We were also charged a $175 fee which is crazy considering we basically had to clean the house before we left. I cant figure this one out... seems like a hidden cost to up the rate but not put it in the cost of the rental amount. The lake is nice, but crowded and small. Saturday was a mad house, people getting pulled over all day by the Sheriff (there are three of them on the lake for a reason). Its ashame they have SO many houses on this lake, it is very over populated. Rarely could we find good water for skiing. And we went during the "off season", I can only imagine how bad it would be during the peak season. We wont be back, and check around there are many other options on this lake... this house is a good choice if you dont plan on going from the house to thelake much.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: I am sorry that this guest was disappointed with Lake Tulloch and the amount of boats on the lake the weekend he stayed. For the record, early September is not off season and might even be considered one of the best weekends to enjoy boating on the lake. Lake Tulloch is a small reservoir (compared to other lakes in the area). It is one of only a few lakes in California that allow houses to be built right on the water. There are very few vacation rentals on this lake and it is used mainly by owners on weekends. It does have wide open areas to wakeboard, tube, and waterski. But it can also get crowded on weekends or on holidays. Going out early in the morning helps. The lake is desserted during weekdays even in the summer. I have tried to be VERY careful in explaining that this rental consists of a house that is not directly on the water, and that the beach/dock requires hiking down the trail (because it is a separate adjacent property). There is a picture posted that shows the relationship of the beach to the house. This is NOT the right house for you if you would like to step out of the house and onto the dock or beach. The reward for this short, but somewhat steep hike is the exceptionally large flat sandy beach (extremely rare on Lake Tulloch). I will agree that the hike is not suitable for an elderly person. The beach/dock area is near the private boat launch. I will add a picture that shows the actual relationship of the beach, the dock, and the boat launch. We have never had our boat or dock damaged or found it interfered with our enjoyment of swimming, lounging, and hanging out at the beach. The air conditioning situation will be fixed as we have now learned that one unit is not enough when there is a heat snap. A large unit will be added before next summer on the main level to the unit already in the loft. I do not apologize for the cleaning charge. It is more than reasonable considering the size of the house and the beach area. 100% of the money goes directly to the housekeepers and groundskeepers so that when you arrive, the house is immaculate and the beach is spotless and groomed. If you are concerned about the items brought up in this review, call me to preview the property before you rent, since even a drive by will give you much clarity regarding the trail, dock, and beach. I have always felt walking down the trail was a small price to pay for the complete privacy at the house, the spectacular view, and the level walk in.

I wish we would have read a true review of this home before we rented it. Our rental was for 8 days with 3 families and a total of 9 kids. Upon arriving at the home, it was VERY apparent that it was very dirty. The spiders and ants have taken over this home. There are spiders and webs everywhere inside and outside of this home. Nobody is cleaning it! The add says "new Air conditioning system as of May". After arriving it we thought the a/c was off. The house temps were in the 90's and we found the A/C was on, but not adequate to cool the home. This house has 3 stories and the ONLY a/c vent is in the attic of the house. The a/c unit is barely large enough to cool an apartment and has NOT been able to cool this home. The temps have been in the hundreds and the home is only 9 to11 degrees cooler inside than outside. Sleeping has been a fight, while soaking the beds with sweat at 85+ degrees. Private beach with vacant adjacent lot!? I have three things to say about this. 1. The beach is next to the sewage pumps and that is why there is no other lot. The local sewage treatment is within 20 ft! The beach stinks all day and the smell even fills the house at night. Thats why the lot is vacant. 2. The beach is a major health concern. What you dont see in the pictures is that the neighborhood boat dock backs right up to the "Private Beach". All the boats from the boat dock back up towards the "private beach" all day long. The "Beach" is covered with oil that is washing off of everyone's boats, trucks, and trailers as they launch. This is a health risk! There is no water current in the cove so everything just settles here at the "Private Beach". Dead fish, fish eye balls, trash, tampons, engine oil, road grime, etc , were all things we saw over the week. 3. The MOUNTAIN you have to climb up and down to get to the water is so steep that it has sapped all of our energy every trip, every day. It is SO steep and dangerous for the kids and even the fit and "in shapeOwner response: I would ask that future guests disregard this review which was posted by a disgruntled guest who was so destructive to the beach and the house,(not to mention disrespectful of check out time) that I was unable to return any of his deposit. This home is maintained by a professional housekeeper from the hotel industry and has never had a single complaint about cleanliness or insects in 3 years of rentals. It is regularly treated for insects and is cleaned by a crew of 2-3 people for 4 hours before any guest arrives. The beach is not near a sewage pump, but is near an emergency generator, used in case there is a power failure (and has nothing to do with "sewage"). The beach is kept spotless, the water is clear and fresh. Our crew cleans and grooms the beach before guests arrive. I have never observed garbage, debis, or oil on this beach, or at any other part of Lake Tulloch (and I have spent many years enjoying this beach myself). The lake is very clean because the water is used as a drinking supply. There is an air conditioning unit in the house that does a great job of keeping the house pleasant in the summer months. It did not keep the house cool enough during the freakish heat spell experienced by this guest during his stay. For this reason, we are considering an additional unit for the property for the 2013 season. The trail to the beach is somewhat steep (not rocky...just a dirt path through the oak trees). The path is in no way dangerous to children or adults. The boat launch is within view of the beach. This does not interfere with your ability to enjoy swimming or using the beach area. This is not a public launch, does not get heavy use, and is not used for swimming, fishing, or lounging. If this reveiw disturbs you, I hope you will free to call me, or to arrange to view the property and the beach before you rent.I care deeply and sincerely that each guest has the best experience possible, and hope you consider the circumstances that provoked this guest to post this unflattering and untrue review.

What a wonderful lakehouse property! My family enjoyed our stay here so much! The sandy beach was perfect for our small children. The dock was great for fishing. The walk to the beach and deck was steep, but our kids could do it and so could the grandparents. That would be the only reason for not 5 stars. The three floors of space allowed our large family to spread out, yet still be connected. Visits from deer at the beach and the open space next door were treats for kids. The home was well stocked with necessities. Would love to come back again and again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

Rented the house for a four day lake getaway and was very happy with the house, amenaties, and especially the boat dock. There were only 6 of us but the house can clearly handle more...plenty of room. My wife and I took the downstairs bedroom and were very happy with the room and the ability to get away from everyone for some R&R. Rooms, beds and linnens were all very clean. Would definately consider renting this house again. The private boat dock is awesome...no need to take the boat out of the water each day. Also had a blast taking the canoe out in the morning before it gets too hot. We also took out the paddle boat in the evenings (with a bottle of wine) and cruised around. The walk down from the house to the lake/boat dock is STEEP...not suitable for the elderly, but otherwise it makes for a good hike after hitting the water. A few item/issues: - BBQ tools/tongs would be a nice addition but we made due (minus some arm hair) with a fork - We had to buy a wine bottle opener....bummer to find that out at dinner time - ANTS....we bought a few traps to place around the kitchen and lower bathroom.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

I stayed at this house the weekend of July 16th, 17th and 18th and loved it! There was a group of 10 of us who drove up to the lake to celebrate my birthday. One of my friends brought his boat and we had an absolute blast on the lake. The boat launch is right around the corner so definitely easily accessible. It's a short walk down the hill to the dock (which is in great condition). This house has 3 full bathrooms and I can't even tell you how happy we were by the bedrooms. There are plenty of beds so all of my friends were able to sleep comfortable. It's a bit older but the house has clearly been taken care of with some great upgrades. Beds were in good condition, felt like you were actually using clean sheets, floors were clean. Everyone should note that they have a swamp cooler and not an air conditioner. On the weekend we went, it was over 100 degrees. The swamp cooler kept the place cool at times but during the day, it can't completely fight 100 degree weather. However, it was bearable. Once we were on the water, it felts perfect. The two decks are amazing! They go all the way around. Downstairs deck has a table with chairs and a really nice swing. Upstairs deck has a few tables, lots of chairs and plenty of space to bbq. I absolutely loved bbqing dinner on the top deck with my friends. Downstairs deck was nice when I wanted some privacy - peace and quiet and to just look at the lake alone as I swung on the swing. Don't put a lot of weight on the pictures. When I looked at the pictures I thought the place looks good, but not as good as in person. There is a lot more room in the living room area then it looks - there is a good size open space given the living room connects to the dining area (which has a good size round table). And there are a ton of windows that you can look out of from the living/dining room area so that makes the space feel even that more open. I definitely recommend this place.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: We are Bay Area professionals that have used the house as a weekend retreat for the 12 years we have owned it. We have spent many happy summer days swimming and boating, only to retreat to the deck for dinner and star gazing in a state of relaxed exhaustion. Enjoy and create some of your own memories when you visit our family Lakehouse.
Why the Owner Chose Copperopolis:
We originally owned a weekend house in Santa Cruz, but found we never really used it. My husband grew up boating, and my son loved wakeboarding and snowboarding. I wanted a cabin-type retreat, a view of water, and a place to stick my toes in the sand. My Internet research all pointed to Lake Tulloch, which I had never heard of. But when I drove into town, and first saw the Lake, it was love at first sight. We still believe it is the best kept secret in Northern California and it only takes us 2 hours to get there.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
There are 2 outstanding attributes to this rental: A view that will knock your socks off, and a rare sandy beach area right on the lake with a private boat dock. Things I like to do: Watch the sun rise over the tabletop ridge with the lake sparkling below, spending a hot summer day down at the beach, floating in the water, taking boat rides, and reading in the shade with my feet in the water, drinking wine with friends on the deck, while dinner is on the barbeque, eating while watching the stars come out, falling asleep listening to the wind in the pines.
