Traverse City condo description

This suite is a beautifully renovated condo accommodation in the heart of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Located in walking/biking distance to the beaches of Grand Traverse Bay and downtown Traverse City.

The Commons is the largest historic preservation project in the country at the site of a 150 year old state hospital, extensively covered in the regional and national press for its amenities and innovative character. In the center of The Commons, this suite is just steps away from fine restaurants, local wine tasting-bars, art galleries, retail shops, café, deli, spa and even a yoga studio.

This suite is a 1700 sf condo with a spacious private balcony overlooking the park-like grounds of the Village. With 13' ceilings, historic terrazzo marble and tile floors, large living room, marble bathroom, and kitchenette, this suite is a very special, one-of-a-kind home base from which to explore all of the fun and beauty of the Grand Traverse area.

The Village - The Village at Grand Traverse Commons is a community of residences, shops, restaurants and much more, located on the renovated campus of the former Traverse City State Hospital. The park-like grounds are covered with vast lawns, trees, and streams. The Commons adjoins a 450-acre nature preserve with hiking trails, wooded hills and upland meadows. The site is known for its spectacular buildings, many already restored to their former glory, some still picturesque ruins. With little or no traffic, the Commons is at once peaceful and idyllic, and at the same time humming with activity and energy.

Suite 211 puts you in the center of the Commons, with the best of both worlds--urban living, and natural beauty--at your doorstep. Dining options at the Village. Start your day at Cuppa Joe for a latte and full breakfast or just a delicious scone. Or wander over to Pleasanton Bakery, where you can buy cookies and fresh, hot bread that's a meal in itself, and combine it with a coffee fresh-roasted at Higher Grounds.

For lunch, visit the Silvertree Deli just downstairs from Suite 211. Billy, Eleanor and Maggie have delicious sandwiches and soups, not to mention one of TC's best selections of wines and gourmet foods, or try Underground Cheesecake, where you can get sandwiches and soups--or just go directly to desert to die for.

Afternoons are a good time to taste some of the fine wines on offer at Blackstar Farms, just downstairs from Suite 211, or across the street at Left Foot Charlie's. For dinner, sample the award-winning menu at Stella's, or for a quick, affordable and delicious alternative pick up a ready-made dinner from Silver Tree and enjoy it at Traverse City's best table on your own private balcony at Suite 211.

Local attractions - Where to start? Let's begin with a pleasant 20-minute through Traverse City's West Side residential area to the several public beaches lining the West arm of Grand Traverse Bay. Walk up along the waterfront through the Open Space, with beach volleyball, kite fliers, strollers, and roller bladers. Take a short detour into Traverse City's vibrant downtown with dozens of shops and restaurants. In the evenings, catch a classic movie at the recently restored State Theatre or one of the many events staged at the restored Opera House or in the Open Space.

For daytrips, visit Leelanau County with its quaint villages, wineries, Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, and miles of beaches. Or explore Old Mission peninsula, home to some of Northern Michigan's oldest and best-known wineries, glorious views of West and East Bays, and lighthouse.

Golf, horseback riding, bay cruises on a restored scooner, or just chillin' on the beach--the Traverse City area has it all.
