It's all about the view . Enjoy exceptional long range views well into South Carolina from our mountain top home situated at an elevation of 4500 feet . On clear days expect to see lakes Jocasse, Keowee, and Hartwell. The show continues after dark the as lights come on in Salem, Clemson, Pendleton and Easley.

Our family loves exploring Panthertown Valley with it's miles of trails and 26 waterfalls. Panthertown can be accessed on foot from our property. A short drive will get you to Gorges State Park, Whitewater Falls, Whiteside Mountain, Pisgah Forest, or the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If shopping and restaurants are calling, check out Cashiers, Highlands, Brevard or even Asheville. All are just a short drive away.

When you come in from your explorations of the surrounding area, our comfortable home awaits . On the main level there is a fully stocked kitchen and living area, two bedrooms (one queen, two twins), and one full bath. Upstairs is a bedroom (king) with a deck and full bath . Downstairs is a bedroom (queen) with a deck and full bath . My favorite part of the house is the covered deck with the wood burning fireplace on the main level.

This home is spectacular. My family (8 adults and some well behaved dogs) and I spent the Thanksgiving week at Young at Heart. It exceeded all expectations. The owner was gracious and very attentive - sending us detailed directions and instructions for everything from area hikes to how to use the gas fireplace. He has thought of everything to make your stay exceptional (including having an optional wi-fi hotspot - my sister, who is in law school, appreciated that for her studies, no one else wanted to be that plugged in!). The home literally sits at the top of the mountain and the views are commanding; you can see all the way into South Carolina. The accommodations are pitch perfect. We were unsure what to expect with so many of us packing in there with so much stuff (lots of provisions for a holiday week), but we never once felt cramped as the home has two "master" suites on separate levels with en suite baths plus an additional full bath for two other bedrooms, so everyone had plenty of private space to spread out. The location is just a stone's throw from downtown Cashiers and a beautiful and easy 40 minute drive to Highlands (45 or so to Brevard). There are hiking trails right out the front door that lead to some spectacular waterfalls - you'll want to use the walking sticks the owner keeps by the front door! At the end of the day we all enjoyed lighting a fire on the deck to enjoy the sunset, have some s'mores, and play board games. We couldn't have asked for a better holiday. We will definitely be going back. This is a gem and we would highly recommend it.

This spacious, comfortable mountain retreat is absolutely amazing! I was there in early September with several friends for a wedding nearby in Cashiers, and I could not have imagined a better way to spend a fall weekend. While situated just down the street from the wedding festivities and grocery restocking, the house feels pleasantly far removed from civilization, with breath-taking back porch views to wake up to, an abundance of lounging and kitchen space to spread out in, an entire valley's worth of hiking miles just out the front door, and an outdoor living room in the back (complete with real fireplace) perfect for toasting, and watching, the start of college football season. The house is immaculately well kept, but with all the rustic, welcoming touches that make a mountain house worth relaxing into- particularly after returning from the epic, gorgeous six-hour hike we undertook from the trailhead just a stone's throw away. I'd highly recommend taking advantage of this lovely home and singular kind of hospitality, and if you go, don't forget to sign one of the bowl of popsicle sticks by the door- leaving a note commemorating your adventures, adding to the pile already there, is the perfect cap to a stay...

Of all the places I have visited in my extensive travels -- including the many which were abroad -- "Young At Heart" is one of the most special I know. I am reminded of this every time I visit this wonderful place. I always hate to leave... Big E, Anderson, S.C.

A well-equipped, pretty, and clean house with world class views. The fireplace on the porch and the fenced in area for dogs accessed from the deck are nice. The house is very comfortable for up to four people. Six would be a squeeze. There is only one sitting area with a couch and three chairs. The master bathroom is nice, but the bathroom on the main level is very small, and it is shared by two bedrooms. The bathroom on the bottom level is ok, and there is a queen bed there in a room that looks like it was designed to be another sitting area or recreation room. So, two couples could be quite happy in the house with one couple on the top floor and the other on the bottom if one couple does not mind the queen bed. The neighborhood is private and very quiet. Nice neighborhood, but access is by a steep, very winding paved road that takes about 15 minutes to get up or down from Hwy 64. A challenge in rain or darkness, and not something enjoyably tackled for quick trip to grocery store. We had a lot of rain and clouds (it is near the top of a mountain). The only DVD player is built into the TV in the master bedroom. No DVD library. Satellite TV in living area worked well.

A stay at the Young At Heart house does not feel like a rental - it feels like you're a guest in the home of a gracious host. Manning and Mary were wonderful to deal with; they genuinely want their guests to have a "Tip Top of the Mountain" experience - and you will not be disappointed! You are literally on the top of the mountain, watching the weather change by the minute over the valley. Our trip included three hikes to waterfalls in Panthertown Valley (an access trail is minutes away from the front door), a hike in nearby Gorges State Park (don't miss Rainbow Falls!) and an afternoon of tubing with a pontoon boat on Lake Glenville, which was the highlight of the vacation for our 12 and 11 year old children. The house is very spacious, clean and lovely, with a downstairs suite with it's own view of the valley. Overall it was the best trip we've ever had!

Up and away from it all for two years in a row! We have been coming to Sapphire Valley for over twenty years and I must say that this has one of the best big views in the area. Very peaceful and wonderful mountain views into South Carolina. Ample space for a large family and nice and clean. We particularly appreciated the covered deck area with fireplace, available TV and gas grill. There is also a fenced in dog run for our well behaved terriers! Lots of great restaurants, hikes and golf nearby. If its rains there is wireless internet and satellite television. Manning is great host and easy to communicate with.

Beautiful home with fantatic views on top of a mountain ridge near Cashiers and Sapphire Valley. The owner is very personable and went out of his way to make our stay as convenient and comfortable as possible. The home is completely equiped with everything needed, top quality upgrades and very well maintained. The views are as good as they get in the Smokys, from any of 3 spacious decks. The outside fireplace became our favorite spot for cool mornings and evenings. We were seeking a peaceful place with a remote but safe feel to unwind; this home fit the bill perfectly. We made day trips to Asheville / Builtmore, Brevard, Highlands, Franklin, Morganton, and many of the local waterfalls. Access to the home is about a 10 minute beautiful (steep) drive from the main road, all paved. The homes in the area are all upscale and nicely spread apart; we could not see any other home from Young At Heart, yet felt safe. This is not necassarily a place for those looking quick access to local city facilities (plan on about a 20 minute drive), but is a great place to enjoy cool breezes, fresh air and first class views. There are many higher end restaurants, golf courses, shopping, art gallaries etc. within 20 to 45 minute drive. We've rented several VRBO homes in several states and this home rates up at the top of all our positive experiences.

We have stayed at many homes in the area and this is by far our favorite! We've stayed here several times and always hate to leave. The view is beautiful, layout of the house is great for families, and convenience to Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard, and so many hiking/scenic spots is wonderful. The house is in great condition, very clean, and we love that is has central air! This past trip we didn't even need to turn it on, the mountain air was so cool and we just let it come in through the screen doors and windows. We spend many hours outside on the deck and have a great fire going every night! The owners are very nice and easy to work with and definitely want to do their best to make your stay a memorable one. Highly recommend.

Our family stayed at Young at Heart for Thanksgiving this year. The drive up to the house is rewarded by the most amazing views of the surrounding mountains. There is a deck that overlooks the valley and surrounding mountains, on a couple of exceptionally mild November days we enjoyed sitting out there with a glass of wine. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked several meals including Thanksgiving dinner for six. After dinner the fireplace in the comfortable sitting area was ideal for chatting and playing board games. There are Hiking trails into Pantherstown valley literally outside of the front door. Other trails are just a short drive away. For an evening out there are several good restaurants in nearby Highlands and Cashiers. Manning, the owner gave us a list of recommended places to eat.We didn't have time to try them all but the ones we did try were very good. This is a great place to relax away from the noise of the city and to enjoy the outdoors.

Our family recently visited Young at Heart for a special birthday weekend. The house was wonderful -- lots of space for everyone to spread out and the views were amazing. We were fortunate enough to visit as the leaves were turning, so to sit out on the porch with a nice fire and take in the views was just breath-taking. Ammenties at the house were great -- our stay was very comfortable. Make sure to grab your groceries on the way in so you can stay at the house at night and just enjoy your time away. Thanks for a great vacation!!
