Bonefish Barbis Beach Bungalow formerly Aaron's Beachhouse is an oceanfront vacation rental located in Eleuthera, Bahamas (Fodor's Travel Guide said that Eleuthera is one of the most beautiful Bahamian islands).
This modern, newly constructed two bedroom/two bath house sits atop a hill directly on the ocean with a panoramic view of a horizon full of whitecaps generated by nearby offshore reefs. Many of these reefs are within swimming distance in shallow waters. The house is surrounded by flowers, especially an assortment of different colors of bourganvillas. The beach in front of the house is virtually deserted, and no renter in the past year has ever seen another person on the beach!!
See the website of the house below under "Additional Web Information" for photographs and an accurate picture.

Bonefishbarbis We just returned (11/9/11) from two weeks on Eleuthera and stayed in Bone Fish Barbi’s. We have stayed on Eleuthera 6-7 times and have been at this particular house probably three times. The first couple of times it was known as Aaron’s House. Barbi and her husband, Scott, have done a great job of updating the house and maintaining it. If you have any experience staying at private homes in the islands, it is not easy to keep them such that people want to return. The website accurately describes the house, the beach and the island. It was just my wife and I and we are not “high maintenance.” There was good cookware, silverware, plates, etc. for us to eat most meals at the house. This was partly because we had been looking forward to buying fresh lobster and fish at Governors Harbour. We were not disappointed. Aaron, a local fisherman, was there everyday (weather permitting) with grouper, snapper, and lobster. His prices are reasonable. You would pay $5 to $20 for lobsters depending on the size. A $20 lobster was more than adequate for the two of us. Barbi has a gas grill that worked great and grilled the lobster wonderfully. The view is to die for. The house is situated on a bluff about 35-40 feet above the high tide. You can see the ocean from every room and the living area is framed with six large sliding glass doors that provide a spectacular view. There is a large wrap-around deck on the back and then another sunning deck slightly below that. You could spend days just taking in the view. There are 60 steps from the back deck to the sand. There are several landings and even another sunning deck on the way down. The beach is beautiful although some sand was lost to Irene. Given time, it will build back up. Regardless, you can walk several miles either direction. To the North/West at about 400 yards you only have to traverse about 50 yards of a rock outcropping before you are again on wonderful pink sand for miles. To the South/East, at about three quarters of a mile you come to a more difficult outcropping that require sandals or shoes to cross. But, then again, you are on miles of beautiful beach. Take water and a lunch if you are up to hours of walking. One of the things we love about this location is the complete lack of people on the beach. During this two weeks we did see 6 people. Four were at the closest house, the owner and three of his friends flew over to fish and catch lobster and we think the owners of the next house down

We just returned from a week at Bonefish Barbi's. We had a tremendous time! The view from the house is just unbelievable. The pictures on the website are nice but just wait until you get there. We walked into the house and were just overwhelmed. The beach is beautiful and the snorkeling was great. We tried snorkeling at many different beaches on the island and felt that the only beach that could compare to Bonefish Barbi's was Lighthouse Beach. We met some friendly neighbors on the beach our first day but they were the only people we saw on the beach the entire week. It is a very, very, private and peaceful beach. Besides being peaceful, private and beautiful, we were extremely pleased with the overall location of the home. It's conveniently located in the middle of the island so we could easily drive up north and see all the sights, then spend a few days visiting locations on the south end of the island. The home is well equipped. We had everything we needed. The house was very clean and the furniture was very comfortable. The layout of the house is perfect (you have an ocean view from each bedroom). The cable TV was great. We had a storm blow through, cable went out for a few minutes and was back online almost immediately. You're going love the little lizard that hangs out on the back deck (he has been named Geico by the owners). My son was thrilled to find out that he was able to get close enough to hand feed him. Even I (although I've never been a lizard person) was looking for him each morning so we could feed him. Last but not least......THE HOME OWNERS ARE FANTASTIC!! They really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable in their home and also are great about providing you with all the information that will make your stay an enjoyable one. We were very well pleased with our stay and I received an enormous amount of "KUDOS" from my family for choosing such a wonderful vacation home. THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL WEEK!!

If you don't want to keep a bar seat warm during your tropical vacation, this is a perfect place. Panoramic view of an extraordinary, secluded beach. Clear, aquamarine water. Pinkish powder sand beach, perfect for drip castles. Nearly deserted roads, including a dirt/sand road that is prime for birdwatching or jogging, in front of the house. Our 6 year old was able to snorkel because of the beginner-level coral reef directly in front of the house -- more experienced snorkelers had an array of reefs to explore as well. At low tide, the reef was exposed for very interesting exploration (bring a field guide!). We weren't in it for the restaurants, and food is not the most convenient. The restaurants mentioned in other reviews are at LEAST more than 5 miles away, and we didn't explore them. Why would we? We wanted to be at the house all day, so we selected from among the (scant) options at the local grocery store and ate simply in order to enjoy the outdoors more. Only drawback is the flotsam high on the beach due to winter Atlantic storms. I could've used fewer plastic water bottles washed on shore. Not this house's fault, though. Our kid wants to move to Eleuthera now, and we'll at least bring him back to this house. This is a good place for kids 6-11 who don't like video games and other useless garbage like that. A kid 12 or older would need a peer to make this place fun. Not a great place for very young kids (i.e., under the age of 5). It was the best vacation we've had in a long time. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CAR.

We loved our stay at bonefish barbie and wish it could of been longer anybody thinking of going here GO you will be glad you did. The owner and caretaker are great to deal with. The location of this house is good for nearby restaurants like tippy's for excellent food the little bakery in governor's island for there fresh baked bread. And for exploring the island if you can tear yourself away from the very private beach in front of the house. I would recommend eleuthera and this house to anybody who wants great views privacy and friendly people.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your home on Eleuthera. We both agreed we could see this as an annual vacation spot. The house is laid out wonderfully, the decks, the view, the privacy and ‘8’ sliding glass doors along the entire back of the house overlooking the ocean. The outside shower might have been our favorite, it was incredible. We only saw one person on the beach behind the house the entire time and we had to use binoculars to see if it was a man or woman. In fact we went to a dozen or more beaches and didn’t see anyone on any of them till the last day. We made friends with a lizard out back, he was missing a front leg so we named him ‘Tripod’. We were able to hand feed him and just about every time we sat out back he would come up to greet us looking for a handout. We went snorkeling every day at different places on the island and the snorkeling behind the house was pretty much the best we found. Went to town several times late in the afternoon and bought fish from the local kids that went out and speared them that day, doesn’t get any fresher. Sunset Inn just south of Govenor’s Harbour was our favorite place to eat. Grouper sandwich was the best and the cheapest. The people on Eleuthera were so friendly. Almost everyone you pass along the road waves and anytime we wanted to stop and talk, they always had time for us. We’ve told all our friends and family about Eleuthera and Bonefish Barbis and that it is the place to go to get away from it all. It was the most relaxing, refreshing week we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back. Scott & Sally WitteveenColorado Springs, Co.

Barbi, We had the most wonderful 2 weeks in our life. The house is awesome! Sliders across the back, 3 decks to tan on, fishing & snorkeling in front of the home. Hubby caught a fish one day and we cooked it up on the grill. The outside shower is so refreshing! We are telling all our friends about Bonefishbarbi's! Thanks for everything Barbi, especially having a case of cold Kalik waiting for us in the refrigerator! Thanks to Byron with the rental jeep, and helping us out with the tv, you get about 90 channels!! Peg & Dave Allentown, New Jersey
