A wonderful week at Villa Tucan Tango

I spent a week at Villa Tucan Tango with 3 sisters, a niece, and her husband. The house was amazing - there was plenty of room for 6 adults to coexist happily and it was every bit as beautiful as the pictures had led us to expect, inside and out. The Villa is very comfortable, well-decorated, and well-maintained. The owners (Nansie and Ed) live in another house on the property so they are there to take care of any issues that come up right away, and it is obvious how much pride they have in the Villa. The setting really couldn't be nicer; we really enjoyed birdwatching from the pool, and watching howler monkeys and a sloth in the trees just a short walk down the driveway. The house has a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and one of our favorite things to do every day was watch the sun set while relaxing in the gorgeous pool. We really appreciated Ed and Nasie's hospitality - even before arriving Nansie provided a lot of helpful information as we planned our visit. We were all very sorry to leave at the end of our week at the Villa, and we are already planning to return next year!

It's hard to imagine a better location and layout. The home and the area around it is dream come true for where the jungle meets the Pacific coast in beautiful Costa Rica. This home is as described and the other reviews have covered everything so well I don't know how much I can add. I will just say the owners, Nansie and Ed, are there to answer any and all your questions before, during and after. It is their attention to detail and helpfulness that can not be ignored in expressing my gratefulness for having such a great vacation there, and I highly recommend it for all who are interested.

Buenos, as the reviews testifies, there is a unique & magnificent AURA to this spot of Paradise-Nansie & Ed have been incredible hosts…and the overall feeling here is truly tranquillo. The ability to wake in the morning with our view of the tree canopy and toucans, howlers, & parrots is a grand experience… My wife Linda and I, as former Peace Corps volunteers, have been fortunate to stay & live in many great locations in Central and South America.---- This has been the “Best of”!!! The Osa Zip is a great tour- Also the Horseback Riding with Don Lulo. Rafting was great with Dominical Surf Adventures as was “Tree of life” with Jesse. Tortilla Flats in Dominical has good food. Also Sonia at Uvita Information Center was great. Request as much info as you can get for your tours-be prepared-take care! Enjoy,

Dear Ed and Nansie, Just to count all the amazing adventures we have had here would take a mathematician to do the job. Costa Rica has been a amazing place full of intriguing excitements whether searching for them or not: to the big bull frogs sitting right outside our doorstep to us zipping across on a zip line. July 22, 2012 Dear Ed and Nansie, We had an amazing time at Tucan Tango. I loved swimming in your infinity turquoise blue pool, and snuggling up on your cozy melon couch watching a good movie or reading a good book. I also really enjoyed going zip lining through the tropical green jungle,white water rafting through the big rapids, and most of all horse back riding with my awesome horse named Auria. Making Memories -- Don't Miss it!

Some time ago we decided we wanted to celebrate our 45th anniversary with our family in an idyllic setting-one which our grandchildren would always remember and may even tell their grandchildren about. We weren't sure that our ideal setting existed--one that would work well for two weeks-but we found it, or perhaps we should say "it" found us. The home is large with private places. Its design is exquisite: a living room-opening onto a patio and an infinity pool-opening onto the rain forest canopy, which in turn leads down to the ocean-a 20 minute walk away.Nature provides the show, from the distant lightening brightening the whole night sky and the tree canopy below-providing rainstorms, majestic red sunsets, cool sunny mornings surrounded by a butterfly garden, toucans chattering to each other in the trees and even the howler monkeys were claiming the territory as their own. We never tired of things to do-from rafting, to zip lining, to horseback riding, to hiking to a nearby waterfall. The home itself is unbelievable--professionally accented with wood and art--truly a Shangri-la. Thank you Ed and Nansie - your hard work and loving spirit have come to mean so much to us. An Incredible Family Vacation

July 21 2012 Ed & Nansie, Were do we begin...our trip has been incredible from start to finish... Your home is beautiful and your hospitality over the top! Truly we feel as through we've made new friends. With your guidance (and insider information) not a day was wasted. We loved Steve (surf instructor and masseuse) for the surf lessons followed by the best (and longest) massage's The hidden beaches were true paradise...And the hike to the Chapman property, Diamiante Falls was a awesome experience, not to be missed--with two waterfalls, breath-taking views, a very vertical hike (not for sissies) lunch in the caves and propelling off the falls....eight hours in all. Ask for Felipe as your guide! Zulay's meal was incredible--a Costa Rican feast that we ate for days. Having the two of you near was perhaps the best part, an amenity of sorts. Your helpful hints and knowledge not to mention trouble shooting made our vacation for nine a vacation even for the parents. There is no doubt that we will be back to Tucan Tango as there is still so much to explore in your beautiful country. Beautiful house, location and owners!

This house is as beautiful as described and better than the pictures show. The view is so spectacular especially while hanging out in the infinity pool. There were 9 of us, 3 generations of family and this house was perfect for everyone. Ed and Nansie are the best and someone was always around to answer questions, help with transportation, suggestions on where to go for tours, restaurant recommendations, etc... Hope to be back soon. My neice and nephew said it was the best vacation ever and coming from 20 year olds, that says it all. Having Tango, Ed and Nansie's dog, around also added to the charm and made us miss our dogs back home a little less.

April 24 2012 All we can say is WOW! You're home is fantastic. Every room is beautiful on its own. The open living space is fabulous! The kitchen is spacious.. the dining room area is lovely..the living room is great! It all views out to the jungle and ocean..what more could you ask for!! The Pool---Ahhh Yes... I loved the pool!!! Morning Noon and Night!! With a swim up bar...really! Crazy cool! just hang out on the raft..now we're talkin' here.. The view from the bedroom was awesome! You can just lay in bed and listen to the surf crashing on the shore..The whole house is amazing and comfortable. You are both wonderful hosts along with "Tongo" their adorable dog..even if you don't like dogs...you will fall in love with this guy... You both made it a wonderful 12 day vacation. There is so much to do here - we went horseback riding, eating, zip lining, eating, shopping, did I mention eating...yum & walks on the beach.... and the wild life, it's all been great. We even found a church to attend while we we're there called "Refuge...Ed & Nansie recommended it- really a great choice. Thank you! OVER-ALL one of my most favorite and memorable vacations by far.. We will be back!! Thank you again for such a memorable time here in Costa Rica. Villa Tucan Tango is fantastic. I recommend this Villa to everyone!! Pura Vida, Suzanne California

Our stay here was one of the most wonderful times we have ever experienced. The house, the view and the weather have far exceeded our expectations. Both Nansie & Ed have been as helpful and gracious as anyone could ever expect. We hope this will not be our last stay at this incredible place. What a beautiful home! We had a great time in Dominical, Tried local resteraunts, did the canopy zip line which was awesome, the horseback ride to the nicauya falls was the best, it included breakfast and lunch, the ride and swimming in the falls all for a very reasonable price probably the best deal around! Tortilla flats in the beach town of dominical was our favorite tico place to eat very large portions and the most reasonable pricing, we were surprised at how expensive the local groceries, gas and resteraunts were / nothings cheap so bring more spending money than you would think to. Villa Tucan Tango was the ultimate home I highly recommend staying there! Be careful if you rent a car crazy drivers, unlined roads, and check with your car insurance co. for liability coverage in costa rica

What a great time we had at your jungle hideaway! This was our first trip to Costa Rica but it won't be our last. You both made the experience one we won't forget. Thank you so much for putting us in touch with Richard to help arrange transportation and the excursions. Also for suggesting that Zulay cook one of her wonderful tico meals. All your recommendations of restaurants and hideaways we would have missed on our own. Steve was a great surf instructor and the kids had a blast!

My husband and I, and our 7 kids (ages 13-22) stayed at Villa Toucan Tango for eight days. The Villa was as beautiful as we anticipated it would be from the pictures on the website! Accept the view. It is far more impressive than the pictures. Breathtaking, at all times of the day and night! We heard, and even saw the Howler Monkeys and the Acari and Toucan's were at an arms distance from our balcony every day! We all enjoyed and spent our evenings around the pool and at the tiki bar listening to the night sounds and the roaring of the ocean waves below. We discovered a walking path down the hillside to the rocky beach below and some of us made it a morning ritual to take the hike and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean. The boys were especially happy that they were able to watch some of the bowl games on the Sky TV. The town of Dominical is great and just a few minutes drive from the Villa. If you stay at the Villa, be sure to inquire about Zulay! She is a magnificent cook and will prepare a meal for you that you will remember and wish that you could duplicate when you are back home! Osa Canopy zipline is just a short distance in one direction, and a must do, and the Don Lulo's horseback to the waterfalls is a short drive in the other direction, and not to be missed. There are so many beautiful beaches surrounding and easily reachable from the Villa. Uvita is a 10 minutes drive and there you will find the supermarket, but there is another just minutes from the Villa and we found everything we wanted there too! You will LOVE your time at Villa Toucan Tango! We are so happy we found it and look forward to returning again!

Paradise Nestled In The Jungle

Wow! What an amazing experience Each place we stayed in C.R was better then the last. So Villa Toucan Tango was the perfect final stop. Even with all the wonderful tours to experience we found it difficult to leave the house.... it was an excursion of it's own. The architecture, decorating and attention to detail were 5 stars in any book. The pool had a awesome infinity edge, and the view truly was second to none. Thank you so much Ed & Nansie for the amazing experience in your incredible house. We "Have" to come back!

Our experience @Villla Toucan Tango was beyond perfection! We Loved Playa Ventanas (but never would have found it w/out your suggestion!) Each time we complained about the long hike, we would round the corner and our breath would escape us! We stayed at Playa Hermosa (up north in Costa Rica) last year, but this is so much more of what we all wished for___ Howler Monkeys- Spider Monkeys- Toucans- & Sloths- The girls and my husband (crazy Americans) loved jumping off the waterfall on the horseback riding tour at — Don Lulu's Nauyaca Horseback Tour I cannot tell you how impressed we all are w/whoever thought of all the detail of your house. I am trying to retain it all so I can tell my friends what incredible detail and thought has gone into this house." Thank you so much – The Virginia Bunch!

Ed & Nansie Thank you so much for our wonderful stay at your villa, it was a great time and end to our almost 2 week vacation in Costa Rica. Your Villa is Amazing, the wildlife, Howler Monkeys, lizzards, Sloth, Tucans and all the beautiful birds and flowers. We really enjoyed the pool and sitting out watching the sunset! We have been to Costa Rica many times but never have we been more comfortable than during our stay at Villa Tucan Tango. Owners Ed and Nansie made us feel right at home and their local knowledge allowed us to maximize our time and aided us in finding the best restaurants and activities in the area. Villa Tucan Tango is a spectacular house with all the amenities and amazing views. We can't wait to go back!

Sunsets from the infinity pool, outdoor showers, wine and pineapple on arrival, master suites overlooking the jungle and the sea, a swim up bar, wood carvings in the doors,fresh flowers, beauty and creativity everywhere you look..... This is an amazing place in Costa RIca, not to be missed.

We had a howler monkey wake up call every morning at 5 a.m., and toucans announcing dinner time each evening. Ed & Nansie were so helpful with reservations, finding attractions, etc. Top notch! This was the most beautiful place we have ever been! It is such a great house and we will definetely be back. Ed and Nansie make it so easy and are very helpful to make your vacation stress free. I 100% recommend staying here and also go to Corcovado National Park for a day, this was the highlight of our trip as we saw all 4 species of monkeys, whales, dolphins, tucans, macaws, and many more. Also I would recommend letting Nansie and Ed arrange your pickup from the airport and they will deliver your rental car to the house, as we decided to do it on our own becuase we thought we had a good deal, HOWEVER the rental car companies are terrible and we ended up paying a lot more and had to deal with a lot of stress trying to get our vehicle and drive to the house. This is an amazing place and our only complaint is that it went by too fast! :) Thanks again Ed and Nansie!! -Derek

Dear Nansie & Ed Thank you so much for sharing your unique and wonderful "Villa" with us. As I told Nansie, it is not only the site, nor "the architecture" that makes the Villa "one of a kind" but the details you find in each corner of the house." Villa Toucan Tango is nestled up in the rainforested hills of Dominicalito, a perfect location to access the beaches and small towns of the southern Pacific coast area. The description and pictures are absolutely accurate, although once we arrived, we realized it was even better and more exquisitely decorated than the descriptions! The property is very clean, well maintained, and artfully designed. Ed and Nansie were very hospitable and helpful with locating restaurants and recreation facilities such as ziplining and beaches, as well as terrific restaurants for both casual meals and celebration of a special occasion. Well done, Nansie and Ed; Villa Toucan Tango is a treasure, as are the two of you!

Our stayed at the Tucan Tango from Dec 22 to Dec 29, 2010 was fantastic . It was our first visit to Costa Rica and the Tucan Tango house made our vacation in Domical and surrounding area memorable. Some much to see in the area. The beach's are great. The house was wonderful with the use of warm woods and tile made the house very comfortable. The open views and pool area made lounging and sun bathing so relaxing. The view of the low jungle and ocean/coast line are gorgeous, just gorgeous. Very, very clean... You can eat at the local restaurants which are reasonable and not to bad. Or buy some staple at one of the local stores and cook a few meal in the very nice kitchen or BBQ on the deck. Have fun!!

I absolutely loved your house. I felt so at home and comfortable. The house is amazing and the views are incredible. I really felt like I was in the middle of the jungle. The wildlife around was so fun and enjoying. Each room was decorated so great and the beds made me feel like royalty. All the details you put into the house really puts the house way above the rest that I've stayed at. My boyfriend and I can't wait to go back. I've been telling everyone I know about your house. My mom saw the pics I brought back, and she just loved your house too. I'll have to bring her next time I visit. Thank you so much for your hospitality and being a great outlet for information of what to do around the area. All the tours you recommended were so much fun and made for some really amazing adventures. Thank you, Thank you.

Ed and Nansie & Tango Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home. We have enjoyed all the tropical artistic building decor. What more could you ask for... waking up to the howler monkeys, birds singing and watching the sunrise in the tropical paradise. The pool night lights flickering off the tiki bar is so relaxing . Retiring to a tropical hillside overlooking the ocean is something you dream about. We have loved having "Tango" over for his visits. We miss our yorkie. This is my sons 1st visit to Costa Rica and you have certainly helped make it special. We have seen a abundance of wildlife during our visit....sloths, whitefaced monkeys, coaties, racoons, toucans, spider monkeys and iquanas. Your hospitlity has certainly made us feel @ home & we look forward to our next visit. We will recomment "Tucan Tango" to all our friends. Pura Vida

I decided to stay at Villa Toucan Tango on my trip to the Dominical area as the pictures had lured me in. It was wonderful! The house was spacious with a beautiful view. I actually can't imagine a better view in the area as most other houses don't seem to be as high up over the top of the trees. We had all the amenities that we needed at our fingertips and were able to get fresh fish right down by the coast where the fisherman would come in. We stayed for about a week and are going to try to make it back later this year. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

We have been to Costa Rica many times but never have we been more comfortable than during our stay at Villa Tucan Tango. Owners Ed and Nansie made us feel right at home and their local knowledge allowed us to maximize our time and aided us in finding the best restaurants and activities in the area. Villa Tucan Tango is a spectacular house with all the amenities and amazing views. We can't wait to go back!

Nansie & Ed We want to thank you for opening your home to our family. It was a great treat for us to spend time with grandparents, nieces, and sisters. Your home is beautiful! The pictures of your website don't do it justice. It is truly an amazing place. We felt at home... with all the comforts. The kiddos enjoyed the pool (especially the wet bar.) And having the beach just minutes away made it for them. We hope we can come back next time we are in Costa Rica. Thanks for your hospitality.

My husband and I have been to Costa Rica several times and we like the Dominical area. As a college graduation gift to two college cousins and their soon-to-be 80 grandmother, we took a family trip here and stayed at this amazing just built Villa. We were awed by the amazing detail that went into designing the entire house, from sparkling raspberry tiles in the pool and toucan tiles to hand carved wooden doors made by a 16-year old native! Nancie and Ed are nearby and we all enjoyed having them there not only to answer questions, but they are delightful. The pool is fabulous which we used even in the rainy season downpours. Kitchen well equipped and weber BBQ made it easy to feed our crowd. We also rented the small casita at the last moment to include my other niece and her family. Most of us have returned home and use our picture in the infinity pool as our newest facebook profile! Beds comfortable and x2/week maid service. Excellent choice!!!

Just to say how wonderful the Bentons were to us and the spectacular villa above the treetops. Unbelievable views, super comfortable and first class in every way. That pool is to die for and the whole area was a delight. Can't recommend this experience enough. My husband and I felt like we were on a second honeymoon!!!! Going back as soon as possible!!! Elise

Our stay at Villa Tucan Tango was wonderful. It was truly stunning! The home was beautiful in addition to be extremely cozy. I love to go out and see places, but in this Villa we just wanted to hang out in the amazing pool overlooking one of the most beautiful views I ever seen (and we have been to many places in the world). Overlooking the rain forest canopy with flying Tucans and howler monkeys was a sheer delight. There are lots of fun adventures around Dominical so you need plenty of time to enjoy all of the wonderful things this lovely location offers. I have already recommended this beautiful Villa to all my friends. I will definetly be back!!
