I almost want to keep this place entirely secret, that's how great it is! Robert, the owner, was great about getting back to me and so friendly I almost felt like family. The views are beautiful and the back porch opens right up to the woods. The upstairs balcony was perfect for stargazing, and we enjoyed breakfast on the sunny back porch. Would definitely return!

I have camped and stayed in hotels in Big Bear for the last 20+ years. This was the first time I rented a private residence. It was perfect!! Very clean and had everything we needed. The back and front porches were great for sitting and relaxing. I will definitely come back!!

I had the pleasure of spending a few nights in this Sugarloaf cabin this week. It is a great cabin; clean, comfortable, and welcoming. It is a modern log cabin with all of the comforts of home. We were going to Big Bear last minute and the owner, Rob, was quick to respond to our inquiry. I appreciated his attentiveness and hospitality during our stay. We loved this cabin and hope to stay there again. It will definitely be at the top of my rental search for our next trip. A 5-star all-around cabin experience. I highly recommend this cabin!

Me and my 3 kids went up to Big Bear for a quick ski trip/getaway before they went back to college. The cabin was wonderful. It totally lived up to our expecations. The pictures were completely accurate and the 2 bedrooms were spacious and comforable. Everything worked and we didn't have any problems. (other than the fact that I didn't know how to light the gas fireplace). I called the owner several times for questions and he answered them all quickly and didn't make me feel like I was bothering him or anything. I would totally recommend this cabin to anyone. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to have a table or something set up in the living room to be able to play games and enjoy the fireplace at the same time. (we spent a few hours each night playing cards and games and we had to do it in the kitchen. It would've been nice if we could have played in front of the fireplace)

My family and I spent the New year in this lovely cabin. It was very comfortable, clean and updated. We brought our dog and he loved running around the woods behind the cabin. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back. The only thing we would recommend is a coffee table in the living room and maybe a light over the dining table. Other than that, this place rocked! I would highly recommend it to all my family and friends.

It's impossible not to repeat what everyone else has said but it is all true. The cabin is easy to find, immaculate, well stocked beyond belief, immaculately clean, and was like having our own home away from home for the time that we were there. Rob, the owner, made the entire experience a pleasure. He responded to phone calls, e-mails, and texts with any questions I had (and I'm sure I was a pain in the butt sometimes with all my questions). One of the highlights for us was the ability to bring our dog, and my daughter & son-in-laws dog, both Shelties. They had so much fun running around the "backyard" which is a never-ending area of national forest. We have already recommended the place to friends, and will be returning ourselves.

We had a wonderful time in the cabin this weekend. It is absolutely wonderful. Very clean and updated and we love the décor especially the Labrador Retriever themed items. Our Choc. Lab had a blast this weekend running around in the snow. You had all the amenities and was fully stocked with necessary items. Some other cabins are not well stocked with dishes and other items so it can be frustrating. Our family thoroughly enjoyed their stay in your cabin and appreciate how easy you made everything. We would definitely stay here again when we decide to return to Big Bear.

We took a long weekend at this cabin to enjoy the end of summer/beginning of fall. The house was the perfect solution for our family of two adults, one infant and two dogs. We enjoyed the hiking right outside the back door and took advantage of the proximity to the lake a few miles away. The house is well stocked with supplies and we even found some board games to entertain ourselves when the baby was sleeping. We would recommend this property to anyone who wants a rustic feel without sacrificing any modern amenities.

My husband found this place on Thursday afternoon and we were lucky that they had availability for the long weekend. We arrived early Friday evening and left early Tuesday morning. The cabin is perfectly tucked away off of the busy streets (Big Bear Blvd.) & the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. Best of all, the pet deposit was cheap! We have 4 small dogs (our babies) & at most places, we'd have to pay a fortune to stay somewhere or there is a pet limit of 2 dogs. This place was perfect for them & they, as well as us, enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying nature. The porches have a gate to keep your furry kids in, too. As for the inside, it is spacious and well layed out. I especially enjoyed the gas fireplace that puts off enough heat to warm up the inside. The king beds were very cozy and we enjoyed falling asleep with the sliding door open. They also have some board games which are fun to play. We are already thinking of when we will go back there & are planning on doing a big family weekend. The cabin has two king bed bedrooms upstairs, a sleeper sofa that sleeps two, and an air matress so you can comfortably sleep a lot of people. Perks they provide: Lots of towels & wash cloths All the kitchen supplies you'll possibly need and then some Washer & Dryer Friendly neighbor Chairs on the porch Shampoo & body soap Cable TV & internet Things to bring: Leashes for your dogs as the yard is not fenced in Laundry detergent if you want to leave with clean clothes Coffee & any food supplies (they did have some condiments in the fridge...we left some, too) Warm clothes as it does get chilly at night Lotion On a side note, for dog owners, there are no fleas up there, but there are ticks so you'll want to treat your dogs for it before going up the hill.

I was looking for an affordable, dog-friendly escape from the desert heat for a weekend and found it here. This cabin is well maintained and comfortable, has a fully stocked kitchen, and two large bedrooms upstairs with a king bed in each room. The deck is a great place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee, read a book, or just gaze at the stars at night. It's close enough to all the activities Big Bear has to offer, yet away from the noise and traffic. The owner was very helpful and easy to contact and work with. I look forward to a return visit! Thanks!

The cabin was more then we expected. We had a short detour finding the cabin, but enjoyed the clean roomy cabin when we arrived. The owner was very helpful and I would strongly recommend this property. It was a quiet week for us by choice. With the lake a short drive and nice walks, it turned into a relaxing stay in the moutains! Plenty to do in town if you choose to.

From the reviews and pictures I was hoping for a great place to stay, and I was not disappointed. This cabin was like a home away from home. It was CLEAN, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need (just brought our own food and everything else was provided). We took our 4 teenagers and they had a wonderful time hiking (the house backs up against the forest which is a huge plus) watching tv (they loved the fact that there was dish network) and just hanging out playing all the games that were provided. The owner is so helpful and willing to go out of his way to be helpful. I can't say enough good things about this cabin and we are already trying to figure out when we can go again.

We arrived on a Friday and left on a Wednesday. The home was very cute, had everything we needed and more. The home itself is a very classic looking log cabin style 2 story home with its very own bears inside (on the beds!) First floor: The living area is comfortable, the kitchen has enough counter space to cook, it is clean and well supplied with nice dishes and plenty of pots, pans and silverware. The outside area has a BBQ grill but lacks a table and chairs for an outside meal. The bathroom is nice clean and spacious with plenty of towels and clean linen. The laundry area is a welcome plus. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom. The walk out balcony on the back bedroom is very nice with a view of nature at its finest. Overall the home was very comfortable and accommodating. They even had games for the kids. My only problem was the dry air during summer. My littlest had to take her asthma medication because of the dry heat and her allergies to dogs and cats. (The home does appear to allow inside pets which is a positive for most, but not good with my little one who has allergies.) I highly recommend this home...Very nice and very affordable. FYI...the owner is GREAT and very attentive.

My family arrived very late at night and enjoyed a 3-day weekend in the quiet little mountain community, a real change from our home in the desert of Las Vegas. Just a short drive to the lake or the Village in Big Bear, this is a much nicer way to visit than a stay in a hotel or motel and gave us the ability to have other family members join us for a barbeque. Owners very nice people who obviously make every effort to provide a good experience to their guests. Other family members hope to stay here soon.

All the previous positive reviews and rental description about this property are all accurate. I highly recommend this cabin for being spacious, very clean, and low-cost. This is a very well-maintained home, comfortable furniture/beds and new appliances. The best part of this cabin is having the forest right off the porch--amazing place to explore. We loved hanging out at the back porch while the children ran around and explore nature. Even with neighbors on both sides, we did not see anyone; the neighborhood is very quiet so you'll have a lot of privacy. Dealing with the owner Rob could not have been any easier. He is an honest, responsive, flexible, and very generous person to deal with.

We had a wonderful, snowy time here in December 2011 and are eager to return! We stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days prior to Christmas. Our group included four adults, two very young children, and a dog. The cabin was able to comfortably accomodate us all with its spacious and sunny layout. The property was clean and well-maintained, as described; the owners were responsive and VERY gracious. The location was perfect-- it's very close to a playground and an easy drive to the main part of town (where we bought groceries and dined), and best of all, its large back deck opens right into the National Forest. The kids and dog were able to frolick in the fresh snow amongst the trees. Meanwhile, we adults enjoyed the huge, stone fireplace, the entertainment system, and well-equipped, new kitchen to cook, sip wine, and relax.

All of the appliances are new and user friendly. The most amazing part of our trip was waking up to the view of a snowy forest from the second floor bedroom. Oh, also this view is on an incredibly comfortable bed with a TV that has hundreds of channels. This place is cozy, clean, and perfect for a romantic getaway. We will definitely be back.

The best quality cabin rental we have ever had in CA (in this price range). Nothing was old or creepy which can’t be said for some other Big Bear cabins! Here are the highlights: Beds – firm, huge and beautifully presented. Furnishing - new and good quality. A little sparse but that gave us plenty of room. Kitchen – A pleasure to cook in. Fully equipped with every conceivable thing (including crock pot, sharp knives, good pans) Bathrooms – new fittings, good shower Neighborhood – quiet except for crazy amount of dog barking in the distance at sunset. Safe and family friendly - Kids playing with their Dads in the street. Wood to have an evening stroll through right out the back door Dog memorabilia – lots Thank you for a lovely weekend. We just got back from an amazing weekend in this beautiful home! Our kids enjoyed the wonderful backyard (national forest) This house is kept very clean, the beds are very comfortable, tons of games for everyone to play. Honestly, we did not want to leave.....and cant wait to go back!

We had such a great time at the cabin. It was clean, comfortable and very affordable. Almost a steal would say. There was so many amenities provided for us, like all the dishes, the movies, the board games and sheets and towels. We have been here twice already. The first time we were only two people and the second time we had six. Excellent both times! Nice space to explore out back and build snowmen =). Extremely close to slopes, sledding and the lake. We make it our first choice for the Big Bear/Arrowhead area.

I loved that we could go out into the backyard and be among the trees and snow. The cabin was clean and spacious. It was well stocked with games--we played Monopoly till quite late! It was a short drive into Big Bear. We went sledding at Snow Play and hiking near the Discovery Center. But the best was tooling around in the backyard with my Corgi for her first encounter with snow. My tween sons slept together in one of the comfy King beds without disturbing each other's sleep. Will go back.

We stayed at this cabin for the weekend of Jan. 7th. It was perfect for our family. We have 2 little ones 3 and under and I agree with a review I read earlier on this cabin. It is not necessarily child proof but not dangerous either. Everything was well maintained and clean. We loved that the back yard is national forest. We are already telling our friends and families about it and spreading the word. We can't wait to go back!

Our family of five had a great time. The cabin is very new with all the amenitities for a perfect mountain get-away escape. Very clean and kept in great condition. Great location and great value. Close enough to all the fun in Big Bear but quietly tucked away with lots of space behind to wonder and explore. Owner was very helpful with suggesting alternate route which saved our vacation. Can't wait to return.

My family and I just finished spending 3 nights in this wonderful cabin and I wanted to share some thoughts that I think will be useful to others who are trying to decide where to stay. First, I was initially concerned about how far this cabin was from all the activities in Big Bear. The reality is that it is truly minutes away from anything you want to do and is much more affordable than cabins by the lake. As for the property itself, the cabin is beautiful with modern furnishings. It is perfect for a family or two. We comfortably slept 5 and did not use the pull out bed or air mattresses. We had a very active 2 year old and while it wasn't specifically child proofed, it was not particularly dangerous either. It is well supplied with cooking utensils, entertainment, linens, and more. I can guarantee you that I will be coming back to this cabin for all my future Big Bear excursions.
