Don't break a dish or glass, you'll be paying for a whole set. It would be safer to provide unbreakable stuff since the outdoor dining table is only a few feet from the pool. We cleaned the whole place and did all the dishes and still paid for a new set. Even if you get in the contract the use of clothes washer and dryer, the staff will give you the evil eye and you'll have to present the contract to prove it, even then they want you to pay Marlena to do your wash. We do our own dirty laundry. Be sure if they send you a refund it's in your countries currency, they wanted ours in US$ but returned Canadian.

After a week at the beautiful Casa Amarillo, I am pleased to write that it was a luxurious and relaxing time on the friendly island of Ambergris Caye. Our trip started with the knowledgeable property manager Joy. Thanks to her, we arrived to find golf carts waiting in town and a case of beer in the fridge. Once at house, the first thing we noticed was the beautiful ocean view that can be seen from the pool deck and the second story patio. Upon our arrival, we received a warm greeting from Marlena and Cruz, the house and grounds keepers, respectively. They were both friendly and made us feel right at home. We took advantage of Marlena's cooking and dined in one night and had lunch in another day. I must recommend the beef and shrimp burritos! Her homemade tortillas were to die for; better than any we had in town! Cruz kept the yard raked every morning and the sand always looked fresh like we just arrived each day. Cookie, the house dog, is a sweetheart! She was so friendly and a great watch dog. The house itself was lovely. The kitchen and bathrooms were all modern and up to date, and the house comfortably accommodated our party of 7. We were able to have the whole second floor to ourselves with the kids in the three downstairs bedrooms. Though we never used the A/C upstairs, the kids loved having private A/C in each bedroom. Having a large outdoor ice maker was a huge plus, not to mention three 5-gallon bottles of water waiting for us at the house when we arrived. Another useful perk of Casa Armarillo was the two cell phones provided to us. They were very handy for our large family when we split up in town. In addition to the house, the locals and other tourists were a joy as well. We were fortunate enough to meet one of the neighbors, who also happens to be a licensed captain and tour guide. He took us on a private snorkeling trip out to the reef. Oh and I can't forget to mention my husband’s favorite feature that wasn’t listed: the small 30’ reef just off the end of the pier. He snorkeled daily with the provided snorkel gear and counted around 15 different species of fish. The mornings on the pool deck were so fresh and peaceful. We drank coffee and watched the sun come up. We considered it to be a luxury to have a house facing ESE! Throughout the whole renting process, Paula was always very attentive, prompt and courteous with replies and suggestions. The process could not have been smoother.

This open concept beach house was the perfect place for my wife and I, and our 3 other couple friends with small children to relax. The rooms have air conditioning for those warm nights, and shutters to block out the early rising sun for those lazy mornings. Enjoying a good cup of coffee while sitting on the second floor patio watching the sun come up is a nice way to start the day. The pool was always clean and a nice place to spend a hot day, whether it was playing water sports or just relaxing with friends and a cold Belikin. Joe's, which is just down the road a few miles has good food and is a nice close place to grab a quick bite to eat on the way home from town, or on a quiet evening. We highly recommend kariokee night at the Road Kill Bar, and all you can eat pasta at Pinochio's. For those lazy beach days, Ramon's Village has good food, comfy beach chairs and very pleasant wait staff that will serve you right on the beach. Mrs. Robin's kitchen right on the main drag is a low cost, good quality authentic island meal of rice, beans and Chicken. All in all, this was one of the best vacations our family has ever been on, and we look forward to going back to Casa Amarillo, and San Pedro in future years.

My 16 days in paradise, fun and sun at Casa Amarillo were unforgettable. A group of 8 adults and 3 babies were lucky enough to enjoy the fantastic accomodations (thank God for air conditioning) and hospitality of the onsite staff (Marlena who babysat and cooked and cleaned for us, Cruz for keeping the grounds impecable and Joy for being our Island contact) that made our trip what it was. Casa Amarillo has a great location and all the tours picked us up on our personal dock. We snorkeled, fished, went scuba diving and enjoyed our cart ride into town for those days of touring San Pedro and the night life. I would definitely 100% recommend Casa Amarillo for travelers looking for first class accomodations and dealing with Brad and Paula and there onsite staff made planning and enjoying our trip UnBelizeable! Thanks so much - I am already dreaming about my next night on the beach in front of the fire, or my dip in the pool while making drinks at the Palapa Bar, or the sites of San Pedro, the ocean and I could go on and on! The location and ammenities were as outlined in the ad and the place is extremely well kept matching and exceeding our expectations. I highly recommend this spot for families or for couples and there was an endless amount of things to do and see. Thanks again Brad and Paula for everything and all the extensive travel information and recommendations you gave us before we got there! Very helpful. I forgot my contacts (my entire bag of toiletries to be exact) and within 24 hours Joy had lined up new contacts and had them flown to the island for $5.00 plus the cost of contacts (which were cheaper in Belize than in Canada). They also guided us to fresh fruit stands, fresh fish, markets, restaurants, tour companies, bars and more... can't say enough! Thanks!

We just spent 11 nites at Amarillo. It is great. You have a caretaker, Marlayna, who will cook for you. $5/head plus you pay for the food. Cheap. Daily maid service and yard care. Private pool, as well as a private dock that runs out into the ocean. We saw rays, octupus, puffer fish, baracuda, bonefish, permit, shark and a host of other critters that call that part of the ocean home. Definitely take the snorkel trip to shark ray alley. Very cool. You get to swim with and pet wild, huge nurse sharks and manta rays. The snorkelling on the marine reserve is spectacular. Tons to do and see in San Pedro which is loads of fun. I am an avid flyfisherman and my guide picked me up and dropped me off at our dock the 4 days I fished. Cheap. $300 per day for 8 hours. I hooked 2 permit and landed one. My spouse caught 4 barracuda the day she came fishing with me, including a 35-40 pounder. I caught countless bonefish to the point I didn't want to fish for them anymore. The main floor is best suited for 2 couples and 2 children. The third bedroom has 2 single beds. Kitchen, dining area, entertainment room and access to the pool and dock. Nice covered outside seating area with bar b q is poolside. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms, another kitchen, dining room. outside wrap around veranda. 2 baths plus an outside bathroom with shower which u will use lots. Accommodated 4 couples very nicely. You must have a golf cart as you are about 2 miles from town. 2 four seater golf carts cost us $940 for 11 days. Pharmacy, grocery stores, restaurants and bars and lots of shopping in San Pedro. We flew in on Tropic Air return to Belize City for $80 each. They had some deal going apparently so we flew versus taking the boat. All good. Can't hesitate to recommend the place. I'll be back. This holiday and vacation home met all of our expectations! There were 8 of us in total with plenty of room in the home! We arrived at the San Pedro airport and were met by Joy who had arranged our golf carts. It was so hot when we got there, we had Pina Coladas at the Jerk Pit across the street from the airport (they were very good!) Joy stopped at the store so we could buy provisions to get us by, then off to Casa Amarillo where we meet Marlena the house keeper/cook. She cleaned the house and would cook your meals for $5 a person. She was a blast we all enjoyed her! She cooked us some fabulous belizean meals, especially the fish the boys caught that day! Marlena toured us around the town to familiarize us with it, she was a great help. Then there was Cruz who did the yard work and looked after the pool. Joy and Dale lined up all our excursions which was a big help. We had an excellent guide, Zib, for our snorkelling trip to Hol Chan, Shark Ray Alley and to Caye Caulker. We also went to the Zoo, did Zip lining and Cave Tubing on the mainland with Jason (our guide and would highly recommend him) who was very knowledgeable with Belize and it's history! The boys went on a very successful fishing trip while the girls went into town for a day of great shopping! (with Marlena). Played volleyball every night on the beach that was raked daily and during the day relaxed by the pool and bar drinking Belikin beer and rum punch! Enjoyed reading at the end of the dock in the lounge chairs and hammocks, as well as snorkelling off the dock! Paula and Brad were very helpful and answered our many questions. They have all the connections to make your trip run smoothly! I would highly recommend this property! Take in as much as you can while you are there! It was a very exciting, relaxing and unbelizeable vacation!

First time to Belize and Casa Amarillo was great. We had considered renting another place that was a little bigger, but had no pool...boy am I glad we choose wisely. The pool is a big plus after diving, fishing , shopping etc. To be able to jump in the fresh water and drink a cold one at the end of the day...pure ecstasy! The house was not small, but could get a little cramped if you had the maximum occupants. House manager Joy was on the ball with a leaky A/C unit and it did not spoil the fun. She picked us up, and dopped us off at the Airport...even stopping at the grocery store to get provisions on the way in. Marlayna cooked a few times for us and it was always delicious. The house is located 4-5 miles south of San Pedro, which doesn't seem very far, but remember you are driving golf carts everywhere on dusty pothole filled roads (takes about 15 min). Don't miss "Hidden Treasure" restaurant...the area seems a little sketchy, but you will not be disappointed. Thanks, Paula

We have visited Belize twice and found our stay at Casa Amarillo perfect! The house is clean and spacious. The pool and beach area provide the extra space you need to enjoy your stay. Marlena the housekeeper is a doll. Cooks great Belizean food and provides daily services we didn't receive on our last stay at a different VRBO property. The owners were wonderfully helpful prior to our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Our experience was not as expected. Our biggest complaint ... agreements were broken. At various stages through our communication, prices and conditions were agreed upon, and then changed by the owners. What was supposed to be a great reunion of family and friends became a disappointing and a stressful experience, especially during the last week while the owners were there. Originally our understanding was that we had booked the entire house for our group of 10 people. but we later discoverd that owners booked our 10 person group in the lower 3 bedroom suite in spite of multiple emails and phone calls telling them how many were coming. It necessitated moving 2 of the couples for the last week. The quality of the accommodations was not luxury as advertised. Room sizes were very small with the 3rd bedroom in the lower suite having no AC, no closet or window to open for any ventilation. . The lower kitchen area and living room were really too small for 6 adults. There is only one indoor bathroom in the downstairs suite for six guests. The outdoor bathroom gave relief. Toilets were not working well during our stay so owner had the septic tank emptied while we were there. As you can imagine not a very pleasant day to be relaxing around the pool! There is a dog on site not mentioned in ad which disturbed some sleepers. Pool and dock area very nice. Make sure to bring lots of insect repellent! Property manager and housekeeper were great and very helpful during our stay especially with recommendations for tours and restaurants, etc. We were told we would receive the damage deposit after 7 days of leaving. When we requested it, instead we received a rude and threatening letter. Make sure to get everything in writing!!!

Our family has just returned from the best vacation ever. Casa Amarillo feels like home with all the fine things in life pool, ocean view, above and beyond service, safety. The kids had as much fun as mom and dad and will be looking forward to the next trip back. The house is a short drive in a golf cart south of town what a blast, tranquility, and privacy at its finest. The service was second to none, the kids loved her and felt as if they were at home. This is one of those places you put on your bucket list it is a must exsperince. I would be happy to recomend anyone looking for a vacation to Casa Amarillo Belize. 6 STAR Rating

We stayed at Casa Amarillo in December, WOW!! It was better than discribed, the pictures do not do the house, yard or beach justice. It was so easy, from the booking of the house, (they even mailed us a book on Belize), answering our non stop emails with a million questions, Paula even phoned us a few times so that we could ask her even more questions. Joy was amazing, and helped us in so many ways. The housekeeper Marlena, we wanted to take her home with us, daily maid service, that is unheard of most places, Marlena cooks great Belizian meals, babysat our grandchildren, and made us feel at home from the moment we walked in the gate. We rented the whole house and it was perfect for our group of 10 adults and 2 young children. Having a playpen and a fold out childrens bed was great. We have been singing the praises of this house to everyone. Paula followed up with us 3 days after we got home and sent us our damage deposit and a Thank You card. The outdoor shower and toilet by the pool sure is a great idea, we loved the pool and having a bbq and dining table outside was the best. We took the cooktop (which is on wheels) from the lower suite out to the pool deck and cooked out there. Nice not to have the fishy smell in the suite. As you can see we have nothing but absolute praise for our whole experience. If you want a perfect vacation, with great owners, great staff and the perfect house, come to Casa Amarillo. You will not be disappointed!! We will be back again and again!

My husband and I just returned from spending 17 days at Casa Amarillo and can not say enough great things about this place. In fact, we are already talking about going back next year and staying here again. If you think the pictures look nice, it's even better in person. The best way to describe our trip is that it was so relaxing. We flew from Belize city to San Pedro where Joy, the house manager, picked us up and took us to get a golf cart, checked us into the house and gave us lots of useful information. She is great and we spent a lot of time with her and her friend Dale. Dale can line up almost any adventure. He is located at the end of Fido's dock. We went on many trips, fishing, diving, snuba, snorkeling and were picked up and dropped off right at the end of our dock. It was so convenient. We had 3 friends visit us while we were there and the house was perfect for our group. There is plenty of room for families or groups and the owner's suite is available for larger groups. However, if you are lucky enough to be there while Brad, Paula and their daughter Kat are there you will have great tour guides that like to do everything. We came as strangers and left as friends. Marlena, the caretaker of the house, lives on site and is always there to help with any questions. She also makes great food and the last night she lined us up to buy 10 lbs of the freshest lobster for 100US and we had the most amazing BBQ by the pool. Also, if you have children she is the best. She is Kat's, the owner's daughter's nanny. The island is great, very friendly and fun people. We rented a golf cart for the entire time, which is the only way to go. It takes about 15 minutes by cart to go into san pedro town, which we did almost every day. There are many stores, restaurants and bars between the house and town so if you didn't want to drive that far there are many other options. We really loved having breakfast at Estelle's on the beach in town, Wild Mango was great for dinner, and for really great local food don't miss Waraguma's on middle street. Also, a couple great spots closer to the house are A.J's for wings, drinks and super friendly staff (ask for kevin) and Mr. Joe's Lonestar has great Tex-Mex. Another must do is ordering and picking up fresh juice, any kind you can imagine from the lady directly across from the yacht club. She has the best produce on the island. From Fiji, Thailand, Caribbean this place is in our top 5!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Owner response: Hey Guys: Thank you for the great review. You are right me may have arrived as strangers, but you are definatly friends now. We are always talking about the great time we had with you. Please come back, and you are always welcome to come to Canada. We dare you to come in winter! LOL Brad, Paula and Kat P.S. Kat sends hugs
