Secluded, with 205' waterfront, this cabin is our personal family vacation home. It's all about playing on the water. We are located on deep water towards the back of a long slough (but water is still deep and clean), so there's not as much boat traffic. This makes our location ideal for swimming (particularly great for children), or relaxing on the large private dock, which has a diving board, slide, and even a refrigerator/freezer to keep your beverages chilled or popsicles frozen. Less boat traffic means peace and quiet, and great water skiing on calm water. Plenty of room to roam if you want to boat or jet ski and look at the breathtaking views on one of the south's cleanest, deepest lakes. In addition, we provide a canoe and a paddleboat for your enjoyment (at not extra charge). We are located on Rock Creek, where the fishing is amazing. Bringing your own boat - a public boat launch is only 10 minutes away.
The house is clean, comfortable and open, with vaulted ceilings and wide plank pine flooring. Comfortable mattresses, and many books, games, video games, and puzzles are available for our guests. Three shaded decks with beautiful views overlooking the water allow for relaxation or entertaining . The cabin is located on over an acre lot, which provides lots of privacy. And Bankhead National Forest is across from us, so your view is unspoiled.

We loved everything about this cabin. It gave us that "at home" feeling, but it was a wonderful get-away! Our kids also loved it! We have a 12 year old, 9 year old and 4 year old. Our 12 year old loved the canoe. Our 9 year old loved the paddle boat, and our 4 year old adored the slide off of the dock! The only thing that I would suggest for the oweners is Pest Cook's Control or some type of exterminator. There were millions and millions of spiders. Of course there are not any on the inside of the cabin, but they are everywhere outside! We could barley walk through a door way into the cabin without seeing one, walking into one, or having to dodge to get past one. All in all, beautiful location and great stay! :)Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Let me just start off saying this was one of the best vacations my family and I have ever taken. The house was perfect. The deck was amazing with a water slide and diving board. The kids were entertained with access to them plus a paddle boat and canoe. If you are looking at a relaxing boat house with the availability to fish or do watersports, this is the place. My family and I could not have been any more pleased with this house or the owners. It was set up exactly as described and due to some of the rain we had, we were able to spend quality family time togethor relaxing and playing many of the board games inside the house. The lake was amazing and due to the locations of the house, we were able to teach my 15 & 9 your olds how to ski and wakeboard. Very little to no traffice in the lake area. As far as the owners (Kathy & her husband), these two are top notch. We had a small problem with the air not cooling on one night and they offered to have someone come out that night. We were eating with friends so I declined, but they had someone out there first thing the next day and corrected the problem. No inconvenience to us at all. Friends of ours staying on the lake had a/c problems and went three days without air. Kathy and her husband really know how to take care of the people using there house and want it to be memorable. Once again this is the perfect get away spot if you love relaxing on the water. Thanks, again for making our stay unforgettable. Kids already wanting to come back before school starts!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We arrived for an extended weekend getaway for our first vacation as a family of 5 (children ages 3.5yr, 1.5yr, and 7wk). The owner could not have been more helpful with all of her tips and notes (where to get gas, bait, food, ice cream recipes, etc) with quick communication and answers to any questions. We brought a misting fan to help keep us all cool on the deck (the owners already had a hose system in place), and the quiet water and undisturbed location was so relaxing. We are already on the search for our own place in this area...it was the perfect family vacation!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

This was a excellent property to vacation with small family and children. The property was located at a great location on the lake, very quite and relaxing. The atmosphere at the home and dock was all we were looking for. The owner was very informative on what to expect and suggestion of what we may need to bring along to make this a great vacation. I would not only recommend this property to others but I will return myself!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Troy, it was certainly a pleasure talking to you, and I'm so glad your family had a wonderful vacation! We make every effot to ensure that our guests have a clean, comfortable atmosphere to enjoy, and that there are no unwelcome hidden surprises. We would love for you to return - please keep in mind that this lake is also absolutely beautiful in the fall, and still warm enough to swim until mid or end of October. And one of your friends has already contacted me, so thank you for that. Look forward to hearing from you again. Kathy

From a recent email after I inquired about their stay: Oh my gosh Kathy…it was FANTASTIC!!! We loved your house! It was probably one of our best vacations ever. My husband fished off and on most of the time and Kennedy and I rotated between swimming, sliding and jumping, and paddleboating. We were able to all be around each other on the dock but do what we each enjoyed doing. My birthday was great but the Angler was in fact closed on Tuesday. We went to Arleys Lighthouse on Wednesday but stayed at the house all the other nights. We did get ribeyes from Smith Farms and oh my! We could very likely rent from you again next summer if you don’t sell the house. It was a wonderful time. Thank you so much!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at this cabin for 3 nights in July 2010. We had an absolute wonderful time. We were fortunate enough to arrive while the owners were just leaving after preparing the cabin for our stay. They went out of their way to make sure that we knew where everything was, both in the cabin as well as with shopping for groceries and giving advice on navigating the lake, fishing, etc. They could not have been more welcoming or accommodating and even offered their help unloading our truck - which we declined, of course. :) Prior to our arrival, we received by email information on what they have at the cabin for us to use as well as suggestions on what we might considering bringing along. This proved invaluable. The written directions to the cabin were excellent as well. This part of the lake provides for a relaxing and private lake experience. Additionally, the water skiing was exceptional as the water surface was like glass in most parts of this slough. The kids loved it. From the owners' canoe, which was available for our use (awesome), my son caught a beautiful bass. He was elated and it was one of the highlights of our stay. If you are looking for a clean and simple family cabin on a quiet part of the lake, renting from property owners that truly care about their property and your comfort, I would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

This was a very relaxing vacation with my family. We have two teenage daughters who love the sun and the water. (Each brought a friend) The paddle boat was a huge hit with all of us. Loved the slide and diving board. My youngest daughter caught a turtle, we all caught fish, this would not be something we would have done, but you could just drop your hook in the water and have a catch. As a mom I did not have to worry about when the girls wanted to go up to the room to eat or just take a break. We would stay on the dock late to look at the stars, the sky was so clear. The kitchen had eveything you would need for cooking. We still love the beach, but this was eveything we wanted in a family vacation. The directions was very clear, property clean and well maintained, I have recommend this property to family and friends. This will definately be somewhere we will vacation again, thanks for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.
