Kauai Garden Cottages is 1,000 feet above sea level, that offers cooler temperatures especially welcomed when time to retire for the evening. These clean and comfortable tropical suites are a quick twenty-minute drive to the popular Koloa and Poipu Beach areas, twenty minutes to the entrance of Waimea Canyon and a scenic thirty minute drive from the Lihue airport.
The cottage is your own home away from home fully appointed with tropical decor. You are surrounded by trees and exotic flowers. Your hideaway is nestled at the end of a private road yet easily accessible to the main highway. Don’t miss the lovely walk from your cottage to explore the farms and pastures of the Kalaheo Highlands.

How did a Hawaiian, Japanese, Jewish hula dancer hook up with a Colorado boy who used to play blue-grass music... and come to be a prolific, creative songwriting team?
After many years living in L.A., the hula dancer moved back to her family home on the island of Kauai in the 80's to help her family. The Colorado boy who picked up a guitar when he was 13 and has played ever since, found Kauai on an impromptu vacation, fell in love with the island and relocated there in the 80's. She, a former x-ray tech and an always-artist who dabbles in paint, glass and ceramics. He, a talented and successful entrepreneur with no fear of new adventures and an always-artist with a guitar.
It was a chance meeting - okay, it was a pick-up - Lynn was a little drunk on champagne, out cruising with a girlfriend and asked the guitar player to dance. The rest reads like your basic happily-ever-after love story – some unusual twists and turns – but your basic love story. On their first date, Thayne plays guitar for Lynn and sings her some of his songs - she is immediately under the ether.
They operate a nice little bed and breakfast, with their beloved cats, Gypsy and Samantha and their environmentally friendly lawnmowers - three St. Croix sheep.
The couple spends as many available hours as possible collaborating on songwriting - Thayne with a guitar and Lynn with a notebook developing lyrics. The boom box has been replaced with a laptop outfitted with Logic software that they keep in their living room - the place where most of their impromptu jam sessions happen and most of their songs are born. A charming place to stay away from the high prices of the beach resorts. Near the quaint town of Kalaheo. Cool breeze felt fabulous after days at the beach. A fabulous and affordable way to experience Kauai.
