This apartment is in the heart of the Historic Marais,The much coveted Marais district needs little introduction. From your door it is an easy, pleasant walk to the Picasso Museum, Musée Carnavalet and Place des Vosges, through a labyrinth of tiny medieval streets. Walking around the Marais is in itself like walking in an outdoor museum of the 17th century. Nowhere in Paris will you find such a concentration of magnificent mansions. It takes time to discover all the details of the architecture, the beautiful sculptures on the mansion’s facades, the ancient staircases, the quiet courtyards. Residing in the area you have time to stroll around, the ideal way to notice and appreciate all this.
The apartment has the advantage of being close to the Carreau du Temple, a very charming market square which bustles with cafes and restaurants.
One block away is one of the most divine delicatessen shops street of Paris, Rue de Bretagne, and a daily open air market (Marché des Enfants Rouges) where you will find the finest, most eclectic, cheese, wine, vegetable and meat shops in town. Parents with children will love the Square du Temple and its playground across the street. The square, popular still, was a favorite hang out for the aristocracy and intellectuals of the 17th century. This trendy area was recently featured in Gourmet Magazine. Many of the featured suggestions from that piece are just a block away; for example, Chez Omar, a very popular restaurant and the Web Bar where one can eat and be connected to email in the same sitting!
If you love shopping, the cutting edge shops of the rue des Francs-Bourgeois are steps away!
A choice of metro lines take you wherever your fancy leads you.

Comfortable Beautiful Duplex-Marais-Notre Dame-Quiet
Year Purchased: 1999
Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 3
The Marais is my favorite area of Paris. I never tire of the beauty of the environment. Even today, after having spent more than twenty years in the neighbourghood, if I look around I spot things I had not noticed before: a beautifully carved wooden door, an ancient iron shop sign, an interior garden. Even chores like going out to buy groceries are a pleasure here. I particularly appreciate finding everything I need, food, places to eat, nice shops –not to mention museums– within a walking distance. I seldom have to take the bus or the metro.
I bought the apartment in 1999 and lived there very happily until I moved a few years ago to a new place, still in the Marais. Before renting the apartment I completely renovated it. In addition to its ideal location, it is wonderfully quiet and bright. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did !

A fantastic apartment for a wonderful stay in Paris

We had a wonderful stay and look forward to a chance to come back again soon! The apartment was cozy and quiet at the top of ~4 flights of stairs and we felt easily at home. The neighborhood has all of the nooks and crannies that make Paris a great city to explore. And all of the major tourist destinations are easily reachable either by foot or Metro. Our first apartment rental for a vacation and we had a great time!

I recently spent a week in Paris with my two daughters (in their early 20's) and stayed in this apartment. We LOVED it. Right in the heart of Paris, it's close to almost everything, and what you can't walk to can be reached easily by the nearby and very convenient public transportation. We found getting around Paris very easy. The apartment is located near several restaurants, many of them VERY good. One of my daughters is vegan and was thrilled to find an excellent vegan restaurant just two blocks away! Inside the apartment is homey, well maintained and nicely decorated and really makes one feel like a Parisian. It is up four flights of stairs, but that didn't really bother us, although it might be harder for someone with small children or older people. It is well stocked with everything one might need - big, fluffy towels, clean bedding, some kitchen essentials, etc. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here so much we can't wait to come back!

My wife, my 2-year-old daughter and myself stayed for a week and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The apartment is well furnished and very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and yet close to so many things. It is extremely easy to get around Paris and this place makes for a great headquarters. I highly recommend this apartment!

I can't say enough about this charming apartment. It's in an ideal location and has plenty of room (since it has two floors). The floor to ceiling windows on each level let in sun and fresh air, and yet was quiet too because of the enclosed courtyard below. The apartment is well-equipped with everything you could possible need for your stay. My girlfriends and I really enjoyed our week-long visit there and would definitely come back and stay there again. **The only issue for older travelers or anyone anyone with a disability is walking up five flights of stairs to reach the airport. The stair case is wide and was no problem getting luggage up and down, but it might be an issue for anyone who isn't up for a little extra exercise.
Owner response:Yes, it is a pity that the building has no elevator, this is rare in this 8 centuries old neighborhood. By the way, it is "only" 4 flights of stairs , not 5. I had several guests who were happy to have the opportunity to spend some energy after a great meal in a restaurant....

We can whole-heartedly recommend this lovely apartment—we had a wonderful stay here! It is actually even prettier and more comfortable than the photos and description show. It is light and sunny and tranquil, and in a great location—overlooking a quiet courtyard, but literally only steps away from the lively Rue de Bretagne, the shops of rue du Charlot etc. We really appreciated the attention to comfort: a bottle of wine and fresh flowers as a welcome, large fluffy pillows on the bed, big thick towels, unlimited hot water, good WiFi connection, quality appliances (both kitchen & bathroom)—even a thoughtfully provided laptop and iPad! Waking up to the sound of spring birdsong, distant church bells, morning sunshine peeking through the wooden blinds on the high windows and the prospect of a pleasant leisurely day of strolling and eating before returning to a restorative hot bath at night was blissful. There are a plethora of good eateries & wine bars within easy walking distance, as well as both the Enfants Rouges and the Bastille markets for great fresh produce, and both lines 1 & 8 of the Métro had stations close by (so convenient!). We loved poking into the many small art galleries dotting the area, as well as the pretty green parks and the conveniently located museums. We were met at the apartment by Sauveur himself (as he did not want us to have to wait until his greeter, the charming and friendly Dominique had finished his teaching class). From the first contact onwards, Sauveur was impeccably professional, and he went out of his way to make our stay a pleasant one—even accepting delivery of our item of lost luggage late at night for us. We would certainly stay here again and shall be hoping it is available the next time we visit Paris!

Sauveur, Thanks for sending this - you don't need to mail the cheque back to me. My daughter and my sister Monika had a wonderful time in Paris and enjoyed your apartment. I have asked Monika to write a review. I know they found the apartment comfortable and safe and the kitchen well appointed with everything they needed. It has been a pleasure to deal with you, I appreciate your prompt responses to my questions and your professionalism. Merci beaucoup, Barbara

Hi Sauveur, Just to let you know we have arrived back in Australia having had a wonderful time in Paris! Our holiday was enhanced by our accommodation at Rue de Turenne. Dominique was there to receive us and we were delighted by the fact that the apartment was so well equipped with everything we could possibly need (including a nice bottle of red wine!). Thank you again Saveur. We will not hesitate to recommend your apartment to everyone ! Kind Regards, Karen and Mike
