Welcome to our adorable Craftsman guest cottage! It's located in the lovely, quiet, close-in neighborhood of Phinney Ridge. The cottage was built in the early 1900's and remodeled extensively. It has a large formal dining room opening into the living room, with a cozy efficient fireplace. High ceilings and large windows in all the rooms look out on gardens.

In a park like setting, yet it's only 2 blocks from neighborhood amenities - excellent bakery, new pie speciality shop, pizza, restaurants, delis and of course coffee shops. We are very close to the Woodland Park Zoo and rose garden, etc. Hop in your car and drive 4 blocks to a main arterial and be in downtown Seattle in about 10 minutes. Or drive 10 minutes through hip and urban Ballard to beautiful beaches and parks on Puget Sound.

We just returned from a stay at this adorable cottage, and we could not have been happier with our visit. The cottage itself is well-decorated and extremely comfortable. We loved the private porch with comfy chairs and a perfect breakfast table. The owners have stocked it with everything you could possibly need to make it feel like home, from nice-smelling hand soap in the bathroom to cookbooks and spices in the kitchen. We really "lived" here for three weeks, and we never felt like anything was lacking. The neighborhood is great, with plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance and a very convenient bus line to get you everywhere you want to go. We even decided to buy a membership to the great zoo up the street just so that we could walk up in the evenings to watch the gorillas eat dinner. This cottage was the perfect vacation spot.

Since we were staying for 3 weeks, we really wanted to like the place. And, the cottage and garden were even better than we expected! The patio/courtyard setting and the cottage itself are both beautiful, clean and inviting. It's easy to get to all the shops & restaurants Phinney Ridge has to offer and yet you're tucked away in a quiet garden setting. Kate and Cathy were very helpful and friendly and have thought of everything you'd need away from home, and even provided some juice & coffee to make sure our first morning started off comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, and they provide all sorts of helpful extras like a hair dryer, iron & ironing board and laundry soap. In spite of having every single thing we wanted, the cottage is elegantly simple - which made it an easy place to settle into into immediately. Since we had lived in Seattle a few years ago, we knew how fabulous this location is, and the cottage & its owners made our trip just perfect. I wish we could have stayed longer...we'll be back again!

In this cozy, stylish, comfortable and private cottage you can prepare a gourmet meal utilizing a full baterie de cuisine with the help of excellent cookbooks, in English; the ingredients from a well stocked market only a few blocks away . Or, you can walk to a variety of interesting and excellent restaurants including gastropubs, burger joints, fine dining and a variety of ethnic eats, not to mention a fabulous pie bakery. The setting is private and so quiet, who knew we were in the middle of a bustling city? Have coffee or cocktails on the porch if it's raining, or on the patio when it's sunny. Enjoy the flowering trees and a perfect raised bed vegetable garden. Did I mention that the cottage has floor to ceiling windows so even on the grayest of Seattle days, it feels light and green and lush inside. Stay for a long weekend or for a month or more, you will have a delightful time and will want to return again and again. The owners who live on the property protect your privacy, but are available and knowledgeable about the neighborhood and city. Thank you so much for sharing this perfect place with us.

We loved this place! Located in a lovely walkable neighborhood, the cottage overlooks the owners beautiful garden. This well maintained and decorated unit has a well stocked kitchen, high quality 100% cotton linens and towels, a comfortable bed, and comfortable furniture. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and juice, coffee, and breakfast cookies to get us started in the morning. The cottage is located in the owner's backyard but is situated so that the cottage and it's outdoor spaces (nice covered porch and small sunny patio) are quite private. There are lots of great restaurants just a few blocks away, we enjoyed a breakfast at the Phinney Market on Kate and Cathy's reccommendation and also stopped by the pie shop which is way too close for comfort if you know what I mean! Many other choices for us to try on future trips. Convenient to public transportation, minutes to downtown or the U of W, 2 blocks to the zoo....this cottage is an excellent value

While visiting our daughter, son-in-law & grandson during Thanksgiving we needed additional space for sleeping to accommodate the whole family during the holiday. Our daughter and son-in-law were very excited to find this charming bungalow blocks from their house and said we'd love staying there; they were right! Our expectations were exceeded! We enjoyed staying there so much we insisted our daughter and her husband have two nights there while we stayed at their house taking care of our grandson. We thought they'd never come home! Though we didn't cook there; the kitchen was well stocked and it would have been fun to cook there and eat in the dining area. In warm weather the outdoor spaces would be perfect for dining. Pristine would be the word to use to describe the interior space. We enjoyed the extras...fireplace & washer/dryer and WiFi which added to the charm and ease of our stay. We could easily live there full time. Kate was very helpful and nice; we weren't able to meet Kathy. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a place that is private, convenient, charming, cozy, clean and has great energy!

If you're looking for sleek urban rental with cookie-cutter decor, this isn't it! If you're looking for a cozy little nest in the heart of a lovely residential area, look no further. Staying in this guest cottage is a vacation in itself. Tall, sparkling-clean windows let in fresh air and light, and the outside foliage provides privacy even when the curtains are open. Kate and Cathy have thought of everything you could possibly need during your stay, including a washer and dryer, a handy, well-equipped kitchen, and thick, fluffy bathroom towels. The furnishings are eclectic and comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean. One of my favorite features, not shown in the VRBO listing photos, is the outdoor space adjacent to the cottage porch -- a stone patio area with a small table and chairs and two adirondak (sp?) chairs, surrounded by lush greenery that affords plenty of privacy. It's a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book or just listen to the songbirds. You'll find restaurants, coffee and gift shops, the Woodland Park Zoo, and the neighborhood farmers' market just a few short blocks away on Phinney Avenue. (Breakfast at Mae's is a must!) Groceries at Ken's Market and access to public transportation are also within walking distance. However, the guest cottage is far enough away from local businesses to be very quiet and peaceful. We hope to return to this perfect hideaway during a future visit to Seattle!

It hardly ever happens that the actual rental is better than the pics, but in this case, it did. I was very impressed by this listing, but when we arrived, we were overjoyed. This place is PERFECT!!! The attention to details is beyond compare. Everything is new, clean, and well thought out. The perfect location to walk to coffee, beers, burgers, the park, and so much more. Kate and Cathy are incredibly professional and very friendly - take a peek at their gardens, too, which are FAB! All in all, I can't wait to get back here on my next vacation to Seattle. Two thumbs way up.

My husband and I arrived rather late in evening but the lights were on for us and the cottage was warm and inviting. We were in Seattle to visit our son who lives in Phinney Ridge and we were glad to visit his neighborhood. We walked everywhere with ease. We tried the 74th Street Ale House, Red Mill Burgers, of course coffee from Starbucks, and we got pastries from a wonderful local coffee shop. There is a 7-11 very near to pick up supplies. The cottage is quiet and cozy and located in beautiful gardens. It has everything you need to feel at home. It has so much charm and is very nicely decorated. My husband loved the little gas fireplace! The owners are so nice and helpful and were so welcoming. They left welcome treats for us and enough coffee to get us going our first morning. We would love to go back for a longer stay!

I've had the pleasure of staying in this lovely cottage for almost a month now. It is beautifully appointed, has all the comforts of home, and is bright, spacious, cool (even in the heat) and quiet, nestled back in a beautiful garden setting. The front porch or garden courtyard are perfect for enjoying a quiet morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. The location is unbeatable for walking access to restaurants, shops, the Woodland Park Zoo and more. Phinney Ridge is a great hub to work from. If you like to walk, Greenlake, Ballard, Fremont and Wallingford are all within range. (I'm a big walker, so please refer to a map to check your comfort level on this!) The bus stop for the #5 bus into downtown (a quick ride) is only a few blocks away. Zipcars are available within a few blocks. It's also an easy drive to most places from here, as the entrance to Aurora (99) and I-5 are nearby. The owners are extremely considerate and thoughtful - wonderful and easy to work with, and provided a very warm welcome. Everything is clean, neat and obviously well cared for. The kitchen has everything you need. There is a washer and dryer - very nice for a longer stay. The bathroom is located off of the kitchen, which may seem a little odd at first, but I promise you that in the whole scheme of things it will not be an issue at all as it is just such a wonderful place to be! I have lived quite comfortably and happily here, and hope to have opportunity to stay here again.

Why the Owner Chose Phinney Ridge:
We love Seattle! Phinney Ridge is a wonderful close-in neighborhood, convenient to Ballard, Downtown, Fremont and Wallingford neighborhoods. Each have a unique vibe and are fun to explore. One of the best reasons is being able to get downtown easily (most of the time) on Aurora (Hwy 99) and avoiding the Interstate. When taking walks in our neighborhood, we see beautiful views of the Olympic Mountain Range and Puget Sound because we are sitting high on the Ridge.
