Little Gasparilla Island house description
Looking for a uniquely wonderful vacation that offers miles of an almost deserted beach, the ultimate in fishing, and lots of privacy, quiet times, and a glimpse of yesterday's Florida? Gasparilla Villa offers this and more. You have found a true island paradise for beach goers and fisherman alike. Your family and friends will never forget this wonderful experience.
Gasparilla Villa is tucked into mangroves and palms on the bay side of a quiet bridgeless barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico next to Boca Grande.
The Boca Grande area is world famous for its quality fishing and hosts one of the finest backwater flats in Florida. With a choice of bay fishing, surf and deep sea fishing, almost anything goes. Try your fishing skills on tarpon, snook, redfish, mullet, mackerel, red snapper and grouper. Gasparilla Villa has its own private dock, a newly expanded deck and covered fish cleaning table and lots of freezer space. Leave your fishing gear on the boat.
For the beach comber, there are miles and miles of almost deserted pristine beach with no condos, stores or gift shops. Abundant shells await with swimming and shore birds only a three minute walk away. At sunset, it is an island tradition to always be on the beach with your favorite beverage to watch the dramatic show and try to spot the elusive green flash.
Snorkel, kayak, canoe or sail in the waters that surround the island. Rent a golf cart and explore the miles of nature trails and roads. There is even a local captain that will give you and your guests a scenic tour. There are several excellent restaurants available by water taxi or your own boat for some of the finest seafood on the Gulf Coast. Numerous golf courses surround the area on the mainland.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted by your personal island mate who will acquaint you with the Villa and the Island. Your island mate will be available all week to meet your needs.
A water taxi is available for transportation is you do not own a boat.

Great time at the island!
Great time at the island!
We place was amazing. We loved the fact that it was located away from all the spring break madness. The villa was as described and the pictures are accurate. The canoe was used many times and we spent a great deal of time fishing off the dock. The nature around us was unforgettable, we even had dolphins playing by the dock. The 3 min walk to the beach was never an issue. The island mates were great at taking care of any issues that arose. The owners did a great job at giving us information to help plan our trip. If your planning on staying the villa, all I can say is to make sure you plan your meals and take a little more than you think because taking the water taxi a few times can get expensive. The grill could use some TLC but it did the job as we used it almost everyday. Don't forget to stop by the fish market near the marina for some excellent fish. We look forward to staying there again next year. Thanks Teresa

Manager response: Thanks for the excellent feedback. We are thrilled that you and your family had a great and memorable vacation. We also appreciate the heads up on the grill. Being around salt water it certainly takes it toll early. We hope to host you and your family in the future.
Wonderful place to unwind
Wonderful place to unwind
What an idyllic setting! The house was not ostentatious but impeccably clean with everything you'd need for beach-going fun (kids' toys, beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards). Don't miss the kayaks either (2 kids' and 4 adults' when we were there). The dock is wonderful: we would sit out there for most meals and enjoy the waterbirds, mullet and osprey. From the dock, the only noise is the wildlife and you can hardly see any signs of modern worries (the Boca Grande causeway is WAY off in the distance). A short path (3 min walk, tops), only steps from the house takes you directly to the gulf beach right at the edge of the Don Pedro Nature Reserve so the beach is wonderfully barren; you could walk for 30 minutes and only pass one or two other people. The owners were very helpful and provided quick response to all questions. Our "Island Mates", the next-door neighbors, Phyllis and Charles were also great. They were a font of information if you wanted it but were non-intrusive otherwise. The property is planted in native vegetation which made it particularly appealing to those wanting to experience the real Florida. The boat ride to/from the marina takes about 15 min. Unless you have your own boat, this is not an action-packed vacation place. The beach, the sound and the island are about all there is to do but if that's what you're looking for, it's a wonderful retreat. And while the cleaning requirements are rigorous, they seemed reasonable considering that you'd want a house that clean if you were going to be the next people renting it.

Manager response: We are thrilled that you found our property up to your liking and that you found it everything you expected. One other activity that folks like to do is fish and fishing off the dock can be extremely gratifying. We do offer an optional cleaning service for $100. We have chosen not to increase our rental rates so you can opt to clean it yourselves. We appreciate your feedback and hope you consider us again in your future vacation plans.
A relaxing place
A relaxing place
This was the perfect antidote to Orlando. A very well appointed and looked after property. The dosk was a wonderful place to relax, fish see dolphins and manatees. The Island hosts were a great help as well as being lovely people. The kayaks make a huge difference and we all enjoyed exploring in them. The only negative I would suggest is that the extra cleaning requirements are almost impossible to achieve on check out day. I think it would be fairer to include some of these tasks in the rental price.

Best place we ever stayed!
Best place we ever stayed!
This place looked great online, and it was even better 'in person'. The house is comfortable and open (plenty of ceiling fans and windows). The master bedroom is bright and breezy with the most comfortable king-sized bed I have ever slept in! The kitchen had everything I needed, even a well-stocked spice cabinet. My 4 children, my husband and my dad enjoyed fishing off the dock at all hours of the day and night - they caught 9 different types of fish, and many of them! We saw dolphins just yards away from the dock on several occasions. There is a closet FILLED with all kinds of board games and puzzles, and we had fun using them. The beach was a short, pleasant walk away, and what a beach! The water was incredible, even in February. The shell-collecting was addictive - our 10-yr-old son collected 116 shark teeth in a week! The absence of automobiles on the island was refreshing - such peace and quiet, and also no worries about our younger kids' safety as they roamed and explored. Our island hosts were very knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife - they gave us a jar of 'beach grape' jelly when we arrived, which was tasty on toast. This was absolutely the nicest vacation I have ever had. Know how you often feel at the end of a vacation - that feeling of looking forward to your own bed and your own 'stuff'? I didn't have that at all this time - I was sorry to go. I will definitely be coming back!
