Enjoy your vacation in a unique mid-century modern home. This is an extremely kid-friendly residence. This house is ideal for families. This house is not available for parties, gatherings, or events.
Built on a half-acre lot in 1961, this house has a Zen feel to it. It features six 'pavilion' style rooms with sliding glass doors (either of glass leading outdoors or shoji style leading to an interior space). There is flat roof on the utilitarian spaces (such as the kitchen and bathrooms) and gorgeous high, peaked wood ceilings and clerestory windows in bedrooms and the family and game rooms. This is an original indoor-outdoor home. Every room in the original house is flooded with natural light, via clerestory windows and skylights. The family and game rooms have sliding glass doors to outside patios. Two bedrooms also have sliding glass doors to the outside. A 2005 addition added a cement block structure with a fourth, more private bedroom and a laundry room.
The house has lots of books, fine art photographs and toys appropriate for children between the ages of 8 and 12. Our children like to 'build,' so we have LOTS of Legos and K'nex.
The house is a mile from Windansea Beach, and from shops and restaurants in La Jolla Village.

La Jolla is a beautiful town filled with smart, interesting people from around the globe. The coastline has gorgeous rocky spots, and spacious sandy shores. The village has interesting shops, quality restaurants, and gorgeous galleries. University of California, San Diego is located in La Jolla, and, as a result, there are quality plays, performances, and talks year-round. There also are other La Jolla organizations, such as the Athenaeum Music and Art Library and the Birch Aquarium, which offers quality programs year-round. As for outdoor activities, there is a huge variety of sports and recreation activities that can be done year-round. The weather can be summer-like any month of the year: July, August and September tend to be the hottest months. The following rental agreement details on the rental of the 4 bedroom, 3 bath home, located at 1321 Muirlands Vista Way in La Jolla, CA. A damage/reservation deposit of $1,000 is required at the signing of this agreement. An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is also required at the time of booking. The BALANCE OF RENT is due thirty (30) days before your arrival date. 1. CHECK IN/CHECK OUT-CHECK-IN TIME IS AFTER 3 P.M. P.S.T.CHECK-OUT IS 10 A.M. PST. 2. TAX-All rentals of 31 days or less are subject to a tenant occupancy tax (T.O.T.) of 10% of the total rent. The tax is subject to change without notice as it is set by government officials. 3. CONDITION OF PROPERTY – Tenants agrees to keep the property, furnishings, and appliances clean and in good repair and to pay for any damages. If any furniture is moved from its original position please return to original position. If premises are found in an unacceptable condition upon arrival, report immediately. If no report is made, we will presume that the premises are acceptable. 4. CLEANING – Tenant will be responsible to leave the dishes, utensils, and appliances clean. All trash is to be disposed in the receptacles provided on the property. Linens and bath towels are provided. A weekly cleaning (on Tuesdays) is included in the rent. Daily cleaning services may be arranged at an additional fee. A cleaning fee of $150 applies. 5. REPAIRS- Tenant agrees to allow management to enter the premises to make necessary repairs during business hours and on weekends. 6. SUBLET – Tenant shall not let or sublet all or any part of the premises nor assign this agreement or any interest in it without the prior written consent of the management. 7. SMOKING-This is a NON SMOKING property. 8. PETS-One dog is permitted in rental unit. Guests must pay $100 a week to have a dog on the premises. May not exceed 50 lbs. Must be at least 1 year(s) of age or older. Must be spayed or neutered. Must be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and all other vaccinations. Heartworm preventive is highly recommended. Guest will have to sign a separate pet agreement. 9. AGE-We will not rent to vacationing students or singles under 25 years of age unless accompanied by a guardian or parent. 10. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT- A damage/reservation deposit of $1000 is required. This must be received at the time of booking the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (21) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met: a. No damage is done to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. b. No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay. c. All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure (For example, long distance or pay per view charges. d. No linens or other provided items are lost or damaged. e. NO Early check-in or late check-out. 11. PAYMENT – An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required at the time of bookingl. The advance payment will be applied toward the rent. Please make payments in the form of traveler's checks, money order, cashiers check, credit card (+2% processing fee), PayPal (+3% processing fee) or personal checks payable to Sharon Jones. The BALANCE OF RENT is due thirty (30) days before your arrival date. 12. CANCELLATIONS: A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation without penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay or that are made within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit the damage/reservation deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. 13. RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice. 14. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check-in. 15. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved in writing in advance. 16. STORM or BAD/POOR WEATHER POLICY – No refunds will be given for issues arising out of poor weather. 17. TRAVEL INSURANCE-We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance. 18. ABANDONMENT – If tenant abandons the property or vacates before the termination time, the landlord may at their option re-enter the premises and take possession of and remove all property. 19. PROPERTY-Tenants’ personal property is NOT insured. The landlord is not responsible for articles left behind, lost or stolen. The tenant agrees that all rental monies are non-refundable per cancellation policy above. The tenant has read their rights to purchase travel insurance. By signing below, the tenant agrees to all terms and conditions of this agreement. In addition the parties hereby indicate by their signatures below that they have read and agree with the terms and conditions of this agreement in its entirety.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
We often use the grassy hill for sliding (either a cardboard slide in the winter months, or slip N slide in the summer months). There is a 'club house' hidden in the bushes on the property. There is an Olympic pool at the nearby high school which is open for community swimming for most of the day. The village of La Jolla offers quality dining and shopping. Downtown San Diego is just 20 minutes away. The weekly farmer's market is at the local elementary, just one mile away.
