Bay House was completed in 2000 and is similar in design to the popular villa One Particular Harbor, with both homes having been built by the same designer/builder. From the parking area of this 2-level home you ascend stone stairs to the upper level, which houses the kitchen, dining and living rooms and half bath. Three screened sliding glass doors in the great room open to dazzling harbor views and a 420 sq. ft. wraparound covered deck. Interior stairs take you down to the two equal sized, air-conditioned bedrooms and the bedroom deck on the lower level. Every area of the great room has an enticing water view, and every bedroom looks out at Coral Bay.
The 20 x 10 foot pool and the sun deck are located at mid level on the southeast side of the house and enjoy sun from morning to mid afternoon, plus lovely harbor views and cooling breezes.
CARIBBEAN VILLAS’ COMMENTS. Whether from the great room, covered deck, sun deck or pool, the Bay House offers a “postcard from the islands” view of Coral Bay Harbor and the East End of St John. This enticing location is high enough to pick up the cooling breezes blowing off the ocean, yet close enough to the harbor to feel that you’re a part of the nautical scene spread below you. The upper deck is well above ground level but the tight railings on all levels provide good safety for children and the two adjoining bedrooms on the lower floor are also good for a family with children. Coral Bay is St John’s largest harbor and the harbor is usually full of cruising sailboats from everywhere, along with the colorful Caribbean sailors who crew these boats. This nautical essence gives Coral Bay a romantic and out of the ordinary character that our guests seem to greatly enjoy. With its superb harbor views and warm summer breezes, Bay House also has a romantic flair, especially at night and this is a good choice for honeymooners and couples. Bay House is also a fine home for couples looking for an appealing yet affordable villa.
Its location is perfect - a three minute walk to Coco Lobo shopping, Aqua Bistro restaurant and Lily's Market. Another minute walk gets you to Sweet Plantains and Island Blues restaurants and twelve more minutes walk, (three minute drive) takes you to Donkey Diner and Skinny Legs restaurants and shopping. Overall, if you’re a devotee of Coral Bay (and many of our guests are) this is an excellent location, a lovely home, and a very good price.
LIVING/DINING/KITCHEN. The living room is furnished with comfortable furniture for four and is equipped with a cable TV/VCR/DVD and a stereo system with a CD player. WiFi is available. Screened sliding glass doors provide picturesque views from anywhere on the top floor and ceiling fans and the trade winds keep the interior cool.
Bay House offers a choice of interior or exterior dining. The inside dining table seats 4, while both upper and lower decks offer dining for 4 with scenic harbor views. There is a gas grill, cooler and beach chairs available for guests.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a stainless steel four-burner gas stove and oven, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, cookware, dinnerware and a telephone. A washer/dryer, iron and ironing board, are also included.
BEDROOMS. The bedrooms are equal in size, one with a king bed and the other with 2 twin beds that convert to a king. Both bedrooms are air-conditioned and have tiled baths with showers. Each bedroom has screened sliding glass doors that open on to the lower deck offering cooling trade winds and harbor views.
LOCATION. To get to the Bay House you drive from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay (Coral Bay - Western hillside), and turn onto the scenic harbor road that runs along the west side of Coral Bay. Just after you pass the Aqua Bistro restaurant you make a short climb up the hill that overlooks Coral Bay Harbor and you’re home. Bay House is set in a peaceful and convenient spot with classic St John views – sailboats floating on a coral sea bordered by lush green hills. The view sweeps more than 180 degrees, from the northern hills surrounding Coral Bay, over Coral Bay Harbor to the East End of St. John and then southeast out to the Caribbean and the British Virgin Islands.
Coral Bay is St. John’s “other” community. It is a colorful, laid back and friendly small town. The name Coral Bay also refers to the neighborhood that surrounds St. John’s largest bay (Coral Bay).
The delightful National Park beaches at Salt Pond Bay and Lameshur Bay are a 10 minute drive, and it’s a very scenic 20-30 minute drive over Bordeaux Mountain into Cruz Bay, all on paved roads. For restaurants and bars in the Coral Bay area, you can walk to the Aqua Bisto, Sweet Plantains or Island Blues Restaurants and Caribbean inspired shops, or drive 2-10 minutes to 6 other restaurants, gas and groceries.

We had a fantastic week at Bay House and can't wait to come back! The photos are very accurate -- the house has the perfect layout, with 2 big bedrooms downstairs and living space upstairs. We loved the pool and the large deck with grill. The indoor living space was comfortable, but we spent 99% of our time on the deck or by the pool. The kitchen has everything you need. It is a perfect house for 2 couples - great privacy, as well as communal space. Coral Bay is a chill neighborhood - we loved having Aqua Bistro (delicious!) and bar right at the bottom of the hill. Nancy and her husband were very responsive to any questions we had. Advice: definitely rent a 4WD - the driveway is steep, as is most of the roads on St. John. What a fantastic island - hope to come back next year! Thanks, Bay House!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Just got back from St.John. From 12/19 to 12/26 2012...Had a great stay at the Bay house. The pictures are exactly what you get. Nancy, the caretaker of the property was great. She even took our daughter for the afternoon to swim with her girls and we were able to get Christmas shopping done for our daughter. Can't say enough good things about Nancy. The house was clean and comfortable except for the second bedroom bed, it is terribly uncomfortable. The AC in the second bedroom did not work either, but it did not bother us too much because it was nice to have all the windows open to the breezes and the sounds of nature. St. John is ok and I don't plan on going back, but if I did I would not hesitate to use this house again....Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children.

We had an amazing time at Bay House! We love this house! The views of Coral Bay are amazing. In the morning we sat on the deck looking for iguanas in the near by trees, we could usually find about 4. Then after breakfast we'd head to the beach. In the afternoon/evening we'd walk to one of the neighborhood restaurants (like sweet plantains or aqua bistro) then listen to music at island blues or skinny legs. This house is great because the house is lovely, well equipped and perfectly located. We've been 4 times and we'll keep coming back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
