Private family retreat home with 500' of frontage on the Blackfoot River. It is a perfect location for an escape from the urban scene while close(10 min.) to the downtown and the University. One can easily fish and float more than 100 miles of rivers in the surrounding area. It is a float in float out location! The Clark Fork, Bitteroot, and Rock Creek provide a great variety of opportunities for the floater or fisherman.

This spot is a wonderful place to watch birds, and mammals from the deck. We see beaver, big horn sheep, bobcat, bear, deer frequently. The river is a major flyway for eagles, osprey, ducks, geese, and provides nesting sites for many smaller species. With more than an acre of lawn along the river, there are plenty of places to read, play cards, or nap in the hammock.

The primary house has @ 3,000 sf with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 4 fireplaces, with a wonderful view deck looking across the lawn at the gazebo and river. .It has a great kitchen for cooks with all needed cooking supplies.

There is also an adjacent 2 bedroom 2 bath guest house on the river that can be rented separately.

The house has not been offered for rent for the 20 years we have owned it, as it has been exclusively for family and friends. It is very child friendly and a great place for families and or friends to relax, cook together and have fun.

Beautiful Property. Very peaceful setting.Yard is very nicely maintained. Owner and property manager were great to work with. Lots of room for cooking, visiting, sleeping,Great place! My one complaint is that the main house hasn't had a good cleaning in quite some time. The shower in the master had hair in it and the shower stalls are pretty dirty if you look close. Lots of creepy crawlers in the basement,Kitchen counter tops, drawers and floors haven't had anything but a quick wipe down in quite some time. A good cleaning is needed. If you don't mind it not being very clean you can not beat the location and room. Caught some nice Rainbows right out the back door!

Owner response: I attempted to tell all the August guests that the turn around time between stays was very tight. Sorry for the superficial cleaning, I was not able to get the normal cleaning service in before these guests arrived.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Riverbend House! We stayed in the main house and the bedroom setup was perfect for our group. Plenty space in the rooms and bathrooms. No one felt crowded. The kitchen has everything a cook could ask for and the pantry was stocked with great spices/condiments (not found in a lot of rentals). Since it has been one of the hottest summers Missoula has experienced, we spent a lot of time on the balcony, gazebo and the backyard. The hugh pines gave the yard much needed shade and the river felt great on those hot days. We didn't even miss not having a TV or internet connection, it was a nice break from the media world. I would definitely recommend Riverbend to friends/family. We will be back!

Very nice home with a beautiful view of the river. We took a guided fishing float on the Blackfoot, caught and released 30 or more trout and ended our float at this property. The home is very comfortable and nicely furnished. The only minor issues were that it was warm upstairs in the living areas with no air conditioning and there wasnt Internet service or TV. The downstairs with three bedrooms was very cool and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Owner response: This summer has been the hottest since we purchased the house over 20 years ago. Global warming in MT? A/C has been unheard of along the Blackfoot, but may become necessary. Internet access is actually slower and less reliable in the Blackfoot canyon than the 3G networks on phones and pads.

This house was fantastic for our large family gathering. I would highly recommend this house. The property is on a beautiful setting right on the river. We rented tubes and paddle boards and had a great time in the river. It was even fun for the little kids too ( ages 3-8)..they loved looking for interesting rocks and small crabs. The large lawn made it fun also for the kids to play frisbee. The kitchen was well equipped and it was nice to have some stocked spices to be able to use ( most rentals don't leave you anything in the cupboards). There is plenty of space for everyone to sit and not feel crowded. The beds were all very comfortable and it is especially nice to have a great pillow when you are away from home. The owners were lovely and very easy to work with. If you need a house in the Missoula area this is a great spot!!

My family searched very carefully for a home to accommodate a long-awaited family reunion. We were in the market for an affordable, comfortable home with memorable appeal. We found that and then some at this property. Our large group included three generations, and I can honestly say that every person, young and young-at-heart, was comfortable, relaxed, and happy for the duration of our time together. We can say without reservation, that the accommodations surely made the trip such a success. The experience as a whole was delightful and the home perfect in every way. It surely covers the basics including a well-stocked kitchen, charming decor, comfortable bedrooms, and friendly, available managers. But then, it goes beyond the basics and meets your highest expectations with a beautiful yard perched on the edge of a gorgeous river. This yard, or little slice of heaven, is perfect for those who would sit, wade, swim, or fish with friends and loved-ones in harmony. There is even something for those who might prefer a good book with an even better view from an incredible porch overlooking it all. Further, if you are looking for something that has a very private setting and yet is convenient to the services and offerings of a fantastic town, then this is it! Our family enjoyed every second of the time spent here and only regret that we didn't book for a longer stay! Can't wait for next year! Enjoy!

About the owner: I am a retired professional who has enjoyed fly fishing since a child. Our family's primary residence is Santa Barbara, CA. When looking for a retreat spot, I wanted to be in nature and the feeling of privacy. I was unable to find any place that had the feeling of being away from the busy world of today, while still providing access to the stimulation of a great town and University near by. I have been one to spend my spare time in nature. My last job was as Director of the Santa Barbara Museum on Natural History.
