Artists Home Downtown Very Close to Georgia O'Keeffe Museum and Plaza
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Wheel chair accessible:No
Just before New Year 2010, the Biscochito House was recreated from an artist couple's residence and gallery into an ideal vacation residence only 3 short blocks from Santa Fe's downtown Plaza. And it just gets better every year. Quality and attention has been placed into every detail of comfort, convenience and pleasure pairing with the quiet, private and historic neighborhood for guest hospitality.
One bedroom has a gorgeous queen bed, leather arm chair, antique bureau and good closet space. The romantic second bedroom with king bed also has tasteful appeal with complementary furnishings and museum-collected artwork. Adjoining the king bedroom is a jewel-like twin bedroom with handpainted armoire and small TV. Fresh with fluffy towels and stunning tile, the bathroom adjoining the queen and king bedrooms offers a tub/shower. The house sleeps 4-5.
The light-filled open living room and dining room design invites at-home relaxation with adjustable mood lighting. Up to 6 chairs fit around a long country-style dining table and there is a convenient desk for laptop use with an excellent lamp. Watch a movie on the 32' Preferred Cable//DVD flat screen TV or - depending on the season - swing on the cushioned front portal porch swing, stretch out on the lounge chair by the grapevines while food is browning on the back patio barbeque, or gaze into the crackling wood burning brick fireplace.
The kitchen has everything you need - gas stove/oven, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, D/W plus coffeepot (and complimentary specialty welcome coffees), toaster, blender, colorful plates, wine goblets, and - yes - a full set of stainless pots and pans, cutlery ... it's all there! And a full-size washer and dryer (W/D), too.
Park your car safely beside the house. In fact, park 2-3 cars, if need-be. You may be driving off for day trips, but otherwise, those cars might just sit there while you walk to fabulous nearby restaurants, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Fine Art Museum or New Mexico History Museum (just opened a year ago), or for groceries or movies or performances at The Lensic or to attend an event at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center just up the street one block.
Other amenities: Free Wi-fi or ethernet cord provided. A/C in bedrooms and kitchen that cools the house nicely augmented by ceiling fan and portables for heatwaves. Assistance with planning and recommendations (especially for restaurants, museums and music) by the owner/manager - a professional and resident in Santa Fe for 31 years. Exceptional and timely massage available by a Nationally Certified massage therapist makes your vacation a retreat or enjoy a private artist studio tour by arrangement. (see art tabs at www.victoria-rogers.com). Guesthouse available for rental for 2 additional guests.

The house and yard were beautiful, and perfect for our family! Victoria was gracious and helpful, letting us know about some outstanding, reasonably priced restaurants that we weren't familiar with, making our trip even more enjoyable. We love the neighborhood--residential and quiet, but easy walking to the plaza, etc. Great house, owner, and location!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This very livable place became our home for three days. The bedroom configuration was perfect for us, two large bedrooms, one queen, one king and a small bedroom with a single bed. The kitchen was fully equipped and served us well for the meals we cooked. A definite bonus is the proximity to the plaza, and the museums, restaurants and galleries, less that 3 blocks. We loved the small fireplace and had a fire every night and even in the mornings. Off street parking is provided…park the car and walk everywhere. Highly recommended for women’s weekend get-away or for a family with children.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house was perfect for our family of 5. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean. The house had the basic necessities such as coffee filters, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, spices, etc. the only thing that was needed was a coat rack in the front room for our winter coats. Victoria was there if we needed her but gave us our privacy. I would recommend this house. Close to downtown and grocery store.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

As I'm now planning my return to the Biscochito House this coming summer I can't say enough about my visit last summer. My mother, sister and I spent a week at Biscochito, it was everything we expected and more. Victoria was most accomadating also including a wonderful list of her favorite restaurants (Ill Piatto is my favorite) and things to do. The house was immaculate with that 50's bugalow feeling but having all the modern conveniences. The beds were oh... so comfortable. Did not use the TV but loved having the wireless internet. The kitchen was lovely with the granite countertops and old cabinets. After a busy day on the plaza we had drinks on the front porch in the afternoon and enjoyed the quaint neighborhood. We are so looking forward to next summer at the Biscochito House. The house is just a described and I have recommended to friends. Thank you Victoria!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This lovely adobe home is perfectly located in Santa Fe. We walked everwhere and took the car only to out of town road trips and to stock up at Whole Foods. Victoria is a gracious, helpful, knowledgeable host who went above and beyond to help us have the best of good times. The home is spotless, the beds heavenly, we three girlfriends spread out with luxury. We loved the French bakery for breakfast and lunch, and Osteria di Assisi Italian restaurant for a wonderful dinner. Would highly recommend this property, this host, and massage by Victoria!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house is in an excellent location to walk all over central Santa Fe without using the car. Us three had our private sleeping area. The small fenced in backyard is a quiet, quaint, cozy, relaxing, meditating area. The information received from Victoria was extremely helpful. She knows the area very well and she is very informative. For those unfamiliar to the area, she'll suggest places to visit, things to do, restaurants to dine. This is a highly recommended place to stay. We would definitely return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Three of us shared the wonderful Biscochito House for ten great days in Santa Fe. The house became our home away from home. We enjoyed the spacious living areas, comfortable bedrooms and ndewly remodeled bathroom. The front porch and backyard patio were put to good use for early morning coffee and afternoon cocktails. We loved the well equipped kitchen and created a number of delicious meals when we weren't out enjoying the fantastic restaurants recommended by our gracious hostess/host/owner's. We even used a chili pepper or two from the driveway gardend. We tried to stay away from all things electronic, however there was cable, dvd and WiFI available for our use and the WiFi worked without a hitch when we had to monitor hurricane activity in our home state of Florida. My husband treated himself to a massage by our hostess/owner and highly recommends it anyone visiting the Biscochito house or casita. We toured the casita adjacent to the house and are considering a return stay in the casita for just the two of us. This property is very affordable and convenient, so close to everything in Santa Fe and a great base of operations for day trips to Taos, Albuquerque and points beyond and around the area. You won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house is a wonderful place to stay, in fact, to really stay and be at home. The hostess has her original artwork throughout, and which accents the handsome leather furniture and beautiful antiques. The kitchen is fully equipped and modern, yet it has a 50's feel. I loved the gas stove! There is a large yard and garden in which to spend time reading on a chaise lounge, or having a cookout on the grill and dine in style at a table complete with umbrella. The owner is a master at creating this blend of contemporary and at the same time, historical Santa Fe style house. The location could not be better: quiet, safe neighborhood and only five minutes' walk to the Plaza. Last but not least, the owner is a licensed massage therapist; I treated myself to one of her massages and am able to say that this was the best and most thorough massage treatment that I have ever had anywhere. This is definitely a house with outstanding amenities!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Bringing beauty to the environment, love to the people and happiness to the experience is her specialty, and meeting guests who expect less but get so much more gives her pleasure. She was entranced by New Mexico in 1979 and since then, has had a romance with the land and the culture that is wonderful to share with new discoverers of the region. Her photography is permanently archived at the New Mexico Museum of Art. In April 2011, her book 'Santa Fe's Historic McKenzie Neighborhood' was published with history and original artwork of the architecture of the area where the casita is located. Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Historical Downtown:
As an artist, I felt fortunate to have such a wonderful downtown lifestyle living in this house in the midst of the history and new cultural offerings in Santa Fe. When the time came to move elsewhere for more studio space, I enjoyed the creative opportunity to make a special home for visitors to have this unique experience. Since the sweet guesthouse had already been named the Biscochito Holiday Casita, I called this the Biscochito House. The biscochito is New Mexico's State Cookie, served for special occasions!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Walking into town for a stroll on a Summer's eve or when snowflakes are falling, spontaneously stopping into a cafe for delicious New Mexican cuisine just a couple of blocks away, snuggling up in the living room in front of the fabulous fireplace while fragrant pinon is burning, relaxing on the porch swing, listening to the quiet during siesta or at bedtime, not having to get parking when going to a nearby museum, restaurant or performance. Finding out about Santa Fe and receiving a massage from the owner (a retired RN in private massage therapy practice more than 16 years).
