We stayed in the house for three nights in late December 2012 and absolutely loved it. It is incredibly clean, modern, stylish, well equipped and with amazing views. The kitchen had everything we needed, including implements for a delicious crab boil we enjoyed one night. Heated floors in the bathroom and an amazing waterview from the shower were also highlights. Seems like a bit of a small point, but the linens are really great - clean, fresh and new - always a great thing! It was perfect for our party of three. We could not give it a higher recommendation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Where do we begin? This house has everything you need to enjoy your trip in Ucluelet/Tofino. In addition to the amenities listed, the owners provided binoculars and a national park pass, both of which got a lot of use. The house was spotlessly clean and very well-maintained. You'll see plenty of wildlife from the deck (eagles, herons, otters). We also saw numerous whales from the Wild Pacific Trail and a mom and baby bear while kayaking Ucluelet Inlet (highly recommend Majestic Ocean Kayaking). If fish and seafood is your thing, get fresh halibut and mussels from Fishfull Thinking in Ucluelet. As for dining out, we really enjoyed Cyn at Night in Ucluelet and Shelter in Tofino. If you enjoy craft beer, you have to visit and get a growler from Tofino Brewing Company. The owner, Jo, is very helpful and responds to your questions very quickly. We loved staying at this house, and will definitely recommend it in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I will first start this review by saying the owner Jo was infinitely patient with us as we struggled with our travel dates and itinerary. We'd had to change our dates several times, and she was never anything but gracious, helpful and understanding! You know you are in a fantastic place when you can see a picture postcard perfect view ... from the front door ladies and gentlemen! I won't share my exact exclamation here :) but I will tell you it was accompanied by a squeal of delight. The view out the back will take your breath away ... Let's then throw in a spotless, well decorated home with a wonderful beachy feel. One that is well equipped from the well stocked kitchen - to comfy beds & thoughtful things like little coolers for your day trips and the perfect binoculars (!) for wildlife watching right off your private deck. Not sure if the PM I spent in the tub w/ local blackberry wine was my favorite, (did I mention there is a view out of the TUB people?!) Or perhaps it was the PM a deer grazed not 4' from our bedroom window for hours ... That night it was 'Deer T.V.' - it was perfect. This home is a short ride to 'town' - perfect for day runs in, far enough for that wonderful private setting feel. Jungle size greenery, and wildflowers envelop the backyard making it a treat everywhere you look. I can not say enough about this home, in fact - I'd briefly considered locking myself in the spare bedroom and asking Jo if I could live there ... but sadly (sigh) it was time to move on to the next part of our journey. This is the place to be, whatever season you may consider visiting ... I can only imagine how cozy it must be in the winter or storm watching season with the fireplace and front row seat windows! If I can find a way to ever make it back there for that - I will be the first to tell you all about it! Thank you Jo for sharing your wonderful home with us. I will recommend it to anyone and everyone! It truly made our 20th Anniversary, the trip of a lifetime ...Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you for the use of your beautiful home in Ucluelet. My sisters and I had a fabulous time for my 50th Birthday. The quiet and calm surroundings coupled with the more than comfortable amenities was beyond our expectation. The kitchen was more than adequate - we cooked every night and everything We needed was there. The bedrooms were very cozy - a deer even came to visit in the early morning from the bedroom downstairs. Loved the birds that came during our visit - especially the diving hummingbirds. The tide changes brought different moods that can't be described in photos. We enjoyed the view at any time of the day. We booked a spectacular tour to the hot springs. We spotted whales, sea lions, bears, seals and eagles and even a bear. We totally recommend this great adventure. Had an amazing dinner at the Floating Restaurant - it's right on the water and a sea lion came by while we enjoyed the last heat ofthe day! Thanks to the owners for allowing us to experience their home and make it the best 50th birthday ever!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you for the use of your beautiful home in Ucluelet. My sisters and I had a fabulous time for my 50th Birthday, we were not disappointed at all. The quiet and calm surroundings coupled with the more than comfortable amenities was beyond expectation and cannot be captured in a photo. We dined in most days since I like to spoil my sisters then we found a place in Ucluelet for some awesome ribs and a one of a kind location in the harbour! A sea lion came by while we enjoyed the last heat of the day! Jamie's Whaling station made my dream come true when they provided us with a spectacular tour to the hot springs- whales, sea lions, bears, seals and eagles were all viewed before and after our hot spring dip!! I will not forget my 50th!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We (two couples + small children) had a terrific time in this very beautiful, spacious home and would come again anytime! Our preschoolers would disappear (within sight and earshot) and play in the loft just above the living room or the wonderful, large balcony, and the changing views of the inlet at different times of the day were just spectacular. It also felt very secluded even though there were lots of houses nearby. The place is beautifyully furnished with many stunning details, yet robust and minimalist enough for us to have felt extremely comfortable with our two 4-year olds roaming around. And Pacific Rim National Park was just a short drive away. We had a perfect stay, the place truly exceeded our expectations!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We've had many trips to the Tofino area and love it! This is the first time we've stayed on the Ucuelet side and really enjoyed it! This property looks out over the Ucuelet inlet, with beautiful views. Perfect for bird lovers! We had a small flock of trumpeter swans arrive and stay for about 24 hrs., it was a real treat to be able to watch them. Many marine birds and eagles to view. The property is very comfortable, spacious and newly modernized. It is a 5 minute drive into Ucuelet, which offers amenities, nice restaurants, and a few galleries and shops. There are trails to the local beaches and a paved bike/walking path all the way into Ucuelet. The Wild Pacific Marine Trail is beautiful, with lookouts and benches. We would definitely stay at this property again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

After starting our week long holiday in a cramped, noisy condo in Victoria walking into Beechwood was like a breath of fresh air. Our kids immediately took over the loft and found the bouncing donkey toy and were happy and didn't want to leave. Even though the weather was overcast while there the view was beautiful and ever changing. I can see the owners have put allot of work into the house and seem to be planning a deck on the lower level which will be awesome, even better if they make the water accessible by putting in a path. The beds were comfortable (though the mother in law thought the 2nd bedroom one was a bit lumpy) and the kitchen very well appointed. My only suggestion is a 'medium' weight quilt for the beds, the duvets were HOT and just a sheet was COLD. Oh and lastly, I'm thinking of replicating the main bathroom in my own house! Sadly, I won't have that view from my bathtub! Thank you for sharing your beautiful 2nd home! You are SO lucky!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at this home! It was very nice, comfortable and quiet! The home is very spacious and clean. It is close enough to hiking trails that we didn't even have to drive. Within a very short drive are great restaurants, hiking trails and many other fun things. Our evenings were spent relaxing in comfort while enjoying the great view. The owner is wonderful about helping provide information about everything there is nearby. Thank you for sharing your beautiful vacation home, we would defintely stay there again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When my sister signed up for the Edge to Edge marathon in Ucluelet this year, we decided to make a weekend out of it and have a girls getaway. After extensive searching to find the perfect place to stay, we settled on this charming property. It looked nice online and appeared to have all the amenities we would need. A bit of fumbling on my part led to me booking the wrong dates but Jo was kind enough to reschedule our booking for the correct dates. She was a very nice lady and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Upon arrival we were all extremely impressed with the house. It looked even better than it did in the pictures! The first thing you see when you walk in is the panoramic view of the ocean through a wall of glass windows. Gorgeous! The house is very clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. The weather was nice so we spent most of our home time out on the big deck enjoying the weather and the view. We made good use of the board games and books on hand and were pleased to find condiments and spices to hand for cooking. A very nice touch and a first for me in any of my travels! Super comfy beds with big fluffy comforters made for some great sleeps as well. All in all a great place to stay and I would highly recommend this property to anyone choosing to stay in the Ucluelet/Tofino area. You will need a car to stay here though as it is closer to Ucluelet than Tofino and would be about an hour to walk into town. We had a rental and found it very easy to get around. Thanks you Jo for sharing your home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay in Ucluelet. The Maltby's newly renovated home is an absolute gem - from the great view, stylish decor, the exquisite bathroom - it could not have been better. The location is fantastic as well...just a few minutes to the town and beaches. I highly recommend this property for your next vacation to Ucluelet!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were delighted with the accommodations. The location was ideal. We were close to both Ucluelet and Tofino and were able to take advantage of the many tourist facilities in the area, including whale watching, beach combing, and fine restaurants before heading "home" to enjoy the well-equipped kitchen and the deck where we could watch the tide rise and fall. We plan to return for another visit soon. We highly recommend this delightful home away from home to anyone wishing to experience the magic of the West Coast of Vancouver Island.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
