We arrived on Friday night and found a warm loaf of banana bread waiting for us on the table. The owner had left it for us. The keyless entry is great. The apartment is exactly as pictured and very, very clean. We had no problem with the electric fireplace in the living room that is provided so the renter can ramp up the heat if needed. Parking is right in front of the door. We would gladly stay here for another weekend visit.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing.
Owner response: Janice, thanks so much for the wonderful review and very happy you and your husband enjoyed your stay at Holly Haven! When in residence and possible, I love to provide the personal touch of a welcoming loaf of warm homemade banana bread to my renters for their enjoyment after traveling in. Hope to see you again at Holly Haven on your next trip to the Ashevlle area!

Description and photos on listing are largely accurate for this nicely decorated and maintained property although map directions were insufficient -- even Google Maps couldn't find it, but we have submitted a correction. We arrived when Asheville was having a "cold snap" and were not exactly comfortable since we renters did not have any control over the unit's temperature settings. (Electric fireplace only helped in the living room.) This can be a delightful stopping-off place for a couple that wants to do it all -- downtown Asheville attractions as well as Blue Ridge Parkway environs. Eating and cooking in helps offset the rental costs. We recommend the nearby Food Lion for groceries. Our main destination was Biltmore House -- not to be missed -- and we also enjoyed visiting the Grove Park Inn and browsing in interesting downtown shops. The busy Tupelo Honey Cafe offers reasonable and tasty food.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your stay at Holly Haven and enjoyed some of the wonderful venues Asheville has to explore! Thanks to your review, we've added detailed information in the welcome packet on the extra comforters and blankets in the rental bedroom closet for those 'cold snap' snuggling evenings when the preset rental unit 72 degrees year round temperature may desire something extra cozy.

Clean and spacious living area, well furnished, reasonably stocked kitchen. Only recommendation that bed linen be replaced, as rather tired and not of comparable quality to the rest of accommodation. Both my husband and I had a very comfortable, relaxing stay for our six weeks at Holly Haven.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your review and after a 6 week rental we have 'retired' bed linens for new ones. Holly Haven being surrounded by over an acre of woods creates a serene retreat with wonderful vista views of mountains and provides easy access to 74A a two lane road at bottom of hill. Very rarely does two lane road noise penetrate the woods surrounding Holly Haven to be heard from the outside and is never heard from inside the apartment. We appreciate your feedback and glad to be part of your transition to Asheville area as your new home!

We have used this website many times in our travels and have never been disappointed. Holly Haven is no exception and the pictures are 'spot-on' for an accurate overview of the premises. Situated a few miles down 74A from Asheville proper, it gives easy access to all the area has to offer but is tucked away from the hustle bustle of the city. The place is spotless, well equipped and we certainly will check for availability on our future trips to AshevilleRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: So very glad you enjoyed your stay at Holly Haven and look foward to your return visit!

Apartment was very clean and excellently decorated. We had a traffic accident and was unclear whether we needed to extend an additional day. Christi, the unit representative, was outstanding in her concern and willingness to help. Two suggestions-an additional television in bedrooom, even if increase in rate, would be nice. No phone in apartment-no problem with cell phones but should be mentioned in discreption of unit. Heating and cooling control not in apartment but in house above.Owner response: As Holly Haven is a retreat environment, our guests thoroughly enjoy the living rooms 42" flat screen with an 'electronic free' zone in the bedroom for maximum rest and relaxation. Thanks to your review, in the future we'll be providing more visible instructions to use the brand new hand carved wood Amish fireplace with heater for controlling warmth should any specific environment adjustments be needed. Thanks so much for your review and we look forward to your return stay at Holly Haven on your next trip to Asheville area.

My boyfriend and I stayed here during the fall foliage in October of last year. We had a great weekend. The apartment was clean and bright. The views were excellent with the foliage and it puts you right near Chimney Rock and/or Asheville. The homeowner was in town that weekend and was very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again in the fall (and I see the old furniture is gone!!!)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the excellent review and we appreciate your understanding as had just acquired the property on Oct 7, 2011 and you were one of our first renters under new ownership. Yes, all the old furniture is gone and have now completely redone apartment into "Holly Haven" creating a relaxing retreat environment with new living, dining and bedroom furniture, Gabeh rugs, open slat blinds to let in even more light and a brand new Amish fireplace with remote control electric heater for the cool evenings. Would love to see you again for 2012 fall foilage and to enjoy all the upgrades!
