Enjoy the best month of the year, warm days, cool nights-hear the waves with your windows open! 'JUST PACK YOUR BAGS- WE'VE GOT THE REST!!' We help you in your vacation planning by providing the following items: all kitchen needs including dishwashing supplies, laundry detergent, laundry softener, toilet tissue, paper towels, trashbags, towels, sheets and pillows. We updated our kitchen in 2012 and updating our primary bath in 2013. The home offers a open floor plan and water view is available from every seat in the living area. All three bedrooms are spacious and two bedrooms face the water to enjoy the sounds of the waves at night. We offer 42' flat screen TV with Comcast and wireless high speed internet. There is also a TV in the Master bedroom.
We offer two queen beds, one full size and one single beds. We provide large weber propane grill, outdoor shower and outdoor and beach furniture.
Enjoy the 360 degree view from an all-sided wrap around gated porch. Face the beautiful Delaware Bay from one side, and simply turn around to view Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge on the other. Bring your binoculars to enjoy many, many species of migrating birds and various wildlife present in the refuge. Come out at dusk for the gorgeous sunset or later at night to see all the stars in the dark sky. Also visible from the porch are the lights of Cape May, NJ and those of Lewes, DE. Take a few steps to the sandy beach and collect such treasures as seashells, seaglass, sharks teeth and beautiful stones.
Broadkill offers a quiet, relaxing setting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Kick back and read a great book on the private beach without the crowds of the public beaches to disturb you. Kids will enjoy the small waves of the Delaware Bay as you sit in the water nearby. Visit the Broadkill Store which offers fishing tackle, an assortment of grocery items, sandwiches and great milkshakes to order, a small gift area, and don't miss the homemade donuts on Sunday!
Just five miles away enjoy the historic ship building town of Milton. Home of Dog Fish Brewery (tours available), casual dining, grocery stores, pharmacy, antiquing and seasonal festivals. Just down the road is Lewes, the first settlement in DE, with a great deal of shops, museums and fine dining. For the kids (and kids at heart alike), try the Rehobeth Beach boardwalk for rides, games and strolling the boardwalk.

Great week for myself and the Goldens!

Due to my husband's new job he was only able to join me on the weekends, so from Sunday evening to Friday night, it was just me and the Goldens. I felt comfortable staying alone with my dogs. Loved taking long walks, watching them swim, relaxing on the deck (loved the gates, so the dogs didn't run off). The house had everything. Bedrooms and master bath a bit outdated but suited our needs. Drives into Lewes and Rehoboth were easy. When my husband was with us, he was able to fish right off the shore and caught quite a few! If you want to stay in and relax you can but there are also options to go out and about if that is what you desire. Hoping to go back again next fall.Recommended for: Pet owners.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautifully located home, with the Wildlife Refuge across the street and the ocean behind us. John and Cathy graciously greeted us on arrival. Our week was peaceful and relaxing. We especially enjoyed grilling out on the gas grill. Hope to visit again next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

My husband and I have rented from John and Cathy the past two years and will continue to rent this home every time we visit Broadkill Beach. They are wonderful to work with and the place is the perfect get away. The morning coffee on the deck watching the dolphins swim up and down the water makes for a perfect vacation. The home is clean, very roomy and stocked with those items that usually "fill your suitcase". Our dogs love to play on the deck and it's such a nice size that all of us can relax, kick back and enjoy vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our 2 week stay was amazing! The house is comfortable and has everything you might need. Sheets, towels, beach chairs, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, coffee filters, a blender, crab traps...and if it's not there, John and Cathy (the owners) will be sure to find it for you! You really couldn't ask for better hosts. The house is just steps from the beach. And if you like privacy, this is the beach for you! It feels like you have the whole beach to yourself. Our 2 dogs had a great time. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed for a week in April and had a great time. The house is not fancy but clean and comfortable and well set up for 6. The beach is fabulous and the sunsets from the deck were memorable. John and Cathy were helpful and very easy to deal with. A great vacation in a great spot.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What an idyllic setting! What could be better than to be situated just a few yards from the beach on one side and about one hundred yards from the wildlife refuge on the other side? This was nature at its best. The beach was quiet, peaceful, and totally uncommercialized. There were times that we walked the beach without seeing another person, but enjoyed the dolphins as they headed down the coastline. The wildlife refuge is as pristine as it comes. Be sure to have your binoculars handy. And after time spent on the beach, walking down the lane, or sightseeing in local towns it was always relaxing to return to the comfort of the homey beachfront house. It was so nice to be able to feel at home away from home. AND, we were able to share this vacation with our Golden Retriever, Sophie. She had a great time, too. This was our first visit to Broadkill, but it is not likely to be our last. Thank you Cathy and John for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The place was perfect and is highly recommended. We have been going to Broadkill Beach for many years and this is the first year we stayed in this home. Wish we would have found this place sooner...we will definitely be repeat renters. The owners are super friendly and very accommodating. The house had everything we needed for our stay and was very clean which is always the most important! Many items that are normally packed when renting a home can be left behind...the owners have it covered. The house is extremely roomy and had the perfect deck for our two dogs. We were able to sit on the deck, listen to the ocean and watch our dogs play. The view is fantastic and peaceful on both sides of the house. If you're going to Broadkill Beach, this is the place to rent.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed at this property for a week in August 2011 with our two dogs. We chose this proerty for location but there were two other main reasons - pet friendly and linens and towels/beach towels were rpovided (woo-hoo) - did not have to pack all that extra linen! There is new living room furniture, very pet friendly (dogs got to be on the beach and in the ocean for their very first time!). The owners were more than accomodating and we enjoyed the available TV channels and DVD player.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
About the owner: We have been offering the home for rental for over 15 years with no negative feed back. We live across the street and perform needed maintenance asap and clean the home ourselves. Things do happen, we are there to help remedy any issues. One thing we do is quickly introduce ourselves to the guests after they are settled in and make sure they have what they need. Our goal is to provide a relaxing vacation away from the over crowded beaches of neighboring towns along the coast. Our oldest daughter loved the marine aspects and went on to receive her PHD as a Marine Parasentologist-her goal was to provide fishing for young people for years to come!
Why the Owner Chose Broadkill Beach:
It is designed for a couple wanting to get away or a family retreat where the access to the water is virtually steps from the sand and water. We continue to upgrade the home and provides an open floor design with large bedrooms.
We are dog friendly and provide the security of both stairs having locking gates for the wrap around decking (360 degrees) for children and animals. Our kitchen is equiped like your home and provide new appliances except our antique double oven, four burner stove.
You can sit on the east deck facing the water to view the sunrise and the west deck to view the sunsets. Traffic is minimal due to South Bayshore Drive being a deadend street lined with vacation and full timers homes'
If you are looking for a multi-story property, this is not for you! One floor living plan offers easy access for seniors but we are on piling so their are steps to get up to the decks.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We make your packing easy! We supply the linens, towels and beach towel, needed detergents, foil and plastic wrap to name a few. We also have two seperate areas on the deck to relax with two sets of outdoor funiture. Beach chairs and umbrella are also included with a large 3 burner weber propane grill. There is no additional charges for what we supply.
You are right on the beach and from the deck, you can see the dolphins swim up and down the bay as they feed-wow what a sight. Dogs are permitted on the beach year around but leash laws are in effect.
Private beach, look right or left and you may see 30 people. No one can park and enter the beach unless they are home owners or guests by the home.
Alcoholic beverages are permitted along with bone fires.
