Our Stay at Hale Alana

Our stay at Hale Alana in Maui Meadows was simply splendid. As frequent vacationers to Maui, we are well acquainted with this island's beauty and serenity. Hale Alana provided us with accommodation and amenity that made this trip the best ever. Each day presented us with a difficult dilemma. Would it be the magnificent South Maui beaches where we would normally go (a mere 10 minutes away)? The Shops at Wailea (5 minutes)? Tennis? A sunset restaurant dinner? Or should we stay put and lounge around Hale Alana's private refreshing waterfall pool and expansive lawn or sun bathe and whale-watch (binoculars supplied) from the upper entertainment-size ocean-view deck. With its generous view- oriented interior and exterior spaces and special touches, we found ourselves (much to our surprise) choosing to remain at Hale Alana the majority of days! Daytime we were drawn to the spectacular ocean views from the huge, open plan entry/dining/kitchen/vaulted living room (truly a "great room") and two main bedrooms, each space flowing out onto the continuous two level deck. Sunsets from the deck invariably rated a "10". At night, we star-gazed from the hot tub. Day by day, Hale Alana drew us in. The more practical components of Hale Alana were all excellent. Beds and linens, fully equipped kitchen and appliances (2nd fridge in the garage came in handy), 3 bathrooms and a 3rd bedroom, laundry room, outdoor shower for after-beach rinse...everything was there. And Martha provided just the right amount of assistance and management (a decidedly non-emergency comment to her that the hot tub temperature could use a slight adjustment brought a serviceman within two hours). Needless to say, we would heartily recommend Hale Alana.

A Vacation To Remember

As a first time visitor to Hawaii, Maui was a wonderful location to spend Christmas vacation with my husband and adult children. Renting a house gave us the flexibility to relax, spend wonderful dinners at the house or dine out. One of my favorite experiences was watching the sun set and the stars fill the entire sky on the deck every night. I would highly recommend this house for a family retreat. It met the needs of all ages from the well equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the spacious deck, bar-b-que, hot tub, and swimming pool. This vacation was my favorite of all time. Aloha

Hale Alana was a near perfect place for our short visit to Maui. The setting is gorgeous, w/ ocean views, the tropical garden w/ its absolutely refreshing lava pool, and in a quiet neighborhood above the typical busy-ness of the south Maui coast. The house itself is more than promised in the description and photos w/ beautiful, open spaces yet a cozy, relaxing ambience. We woke each morning to bird song and soft sunlight; we went to bed each night under starry skies and soft breezes. VERY Hawaii. And best of all was Martha, who welcomed us, answered any questions, pointed us in the right directions, and was ready w/ any assistance we might need. We've promised ourselves to return to Maui and of course to Hale Alana..

We found Hale Alana on the internet. The description was very accurate and the home was perfect for our group of 7. We loved the location even though we had to drive the 5+ minutes to the beach. The view from the lanai made you feel like the ocean was right there. The house, the pool and the property are an oasis all by itself. Martha was very welcoming and she referred us to a great concierge who took care of our excursion needs. We will stay at Hale Alana again and again when we return to Maui. We have already passed the word to our friends about this property. Thank you for an awesome vacation!!!!

Hale Alana No Ka Oi

When we started visiting Maui over 20 years ago, assorted condos in Wailea met our needs. As the kids grew we started renting houses. An extensive search for that elusive house that "had it all" but wouldn't break the bank resulted in our recent stay at Hale Alana. Although there are “swankier” (and much more expensive) rental options in the area, we can't imagine any place that is more comfortable and functional than Hale Alana. The on-line photos and video of the property are a rarity in today’s world of hype - they underpromise and then the reality of Hale Alana overdelivers. Hale Alana (and the very thoughtful and helpful rental agent Martha) provides everything you need for a wonderfully relaxing vacation. The two King Master bedrooms are sizeable and both have spectacular views. The bedroom with the 2 doubles and its own bathroom is perhaps a bit less opulent than the masters but is certainly no less comfy. We are still talking about the dramatic rock wall that separates the dining room/kitchen area from the sunken living room and the expansive lanai, featuring a beautiful ocean view from its elevated perch. The lanai also features a large hot tub for relaxing and soaking the muscles after a day of frolicking at the beach. The property is beautifully landscaped, with lots of statuary and tropical trees and flowers. The lava rock swimming pool is a real oasis that spends most of its day in the much welcome cooling shade. On the practical side, the fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, garage-accessible “outdoor shower”, and the generously provided ice chests, beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear, pool toys, etc. all combine to help you just relax and enjoy your vacation. By the way, the extra large garage not only keeps the rental vehicle out of the sun but also provides lots of extra room for drying your towels, swimsuits, boogie boards, water shoes, etc. To sum it all up, the title of this review really says it all – Hale Alana No Ka Oi (Hale Alana is the best).

Second visit to Hale Alana

We had stayed at Hale Alana back in 2001 for our 20th wedding anniversary and enjoyed it so much that we decided to celebrate our 30th anniversary there. We spent the first week in May there with our grown-up children and really had a great time. The pool in the back was not there in 2001 and is a terrrific addition to the property. It also makes it hard to get up the enthusiasm to go to the beach when you have your own private lagoon in your back yard! Since the house is up on a hillside and the deck is quite a ways up off the ground the view from the back deck is spectacular. The back deck also has an outside dining area, gas grill, and a hot tub. Even though you do have neighbors, the property is situated so that it still feels quite private. I do need to point out that there is a small cottage out on the back of the property that is occupied. However, during the week that we were there we never encountered the tenants. They were very quiet and kept to themselves which made it feel very private. The 2 master bedrooms are very nice and have great views off the back deck. The third bedroom is really better for children or young adults since it has two double beds and is not as large as the other two bedrooms. While the property is not close to the beach it is a short drive to many of the nicer south Kihei beaches as well as to several very good restaurants-the Five Palms is highly recommended for a great view and good food. In summary, it is a great place to stay if you want a nice private atmoshpere with all the amenities.

my husband and i have the pleasure of spending a week at hale alana. we have been coming to maui for years (20) and this vacation was the best of maui we have breakfast every morning in the hot tub relaxed by the pool and had the best whale watching on the island. this house is so welcoming. we will go back susan

Wonderful Vacation Home!

This home was perfect for our family vacation! There were seven of us at the house - age range from 14 months to 65 years. There was plenty of space and the three bathrooms worked out wonderfully. Here are some details: - stunning ocean views - kitchen absolutely fully stocked - amazing selection of beach and pool toys - plenty of chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, umbrellas, etc. - wonderful, refreshing pool and waterfall - although not heated, we were able to enjoy it and swim! The small pool was great for our 1 year old daughter - great location - a short drive to shopping, the best beaches in Maui and restaurants - access to a very helpful concierge - nice hot tub - perfectly tended landscaping - great outdoor shower off of the garage for coming back from those beaches without facilities - abundant supply of Maui literature and tourist information - we did have a bit of a bug problem, but the property manager had it cleaned up the same day We loved our stay and hope to come back.

What a week in Maui!!

My family just spent a week at Hale Alana and had a wonderful vacation. There were seven of us and the house accommodated us quite nicely. Having three bathrooms with seven adults is a definite bonus. The rental totally met our expectations, beautiful decorations, outstanding views and a pool that was not only beautiful to look at, was delightful to swim in. Not sure how it would work with small children because the pool is quite deep - but there is a smaller pool that would be okay for kids that is only about 4-1/2 feet deep. The house is as described, and it was less than 10 minutes by car to the closest white sand beach. I also have to say that the beds were VERY comfortable - not sure I can say that about every rental we've been in. We had one issue with the jacuzzi and the owner dealt with it immediately, the repairman was there within an hour on a Sunday!! I highly recommend this property and will rent it again when we return to Maui. Aloha!
