The house was everything it was purported to be and more! My boyfriend and I rented the cabin for the weekend and had a fabulous time. We used the hide-a-bed as a chaise lounge to watch the TV so we were comfortable no matter where we were in the house. The place was clean, neat and well organized. It had all of the luxuries of home with the added bonus of beautiful wooded area and nestled in the fabulous Wisconsin countryside. It was a short drive to many quaint towns and attractions such as The House on the Rock. We're already looking at when we can go back next year!

Great place to stay. We met family for our annual "apple weekend". It was a nice drive up to Gay's Mills to the orchards. The scenery was great -- nice sunrises and sunsets through the woods. The cabin had all the amenities we could want. It is close to dining and coffee shops in the small towns around.

Stayed at the cabin with my two brothers and two cousins for a weekend of fishing and catching up. The cabin is very well appointed and was more than comfortable. The owners were great to work with and everything went very well. We checked out the stream, hiked around a bit, and visited some of te local parks and towns. There are some local places we checked out for foods hat were good as well, but we also made use of the kitchen and grill. The one item we wished was available was a fire pit. Other than that, we had a great time.

I'll go back. The cabin was very tasteful and appropriate for the setting and our needs. Great location for accessing Castle Creek and several other scenic trout streams. Perfect size for 3-4 fishermen on a weekend get away. Would not hesitate to recommend this cabin to others. Would love to come back in the late fall when the tree canopy is thinner and the views more apparent.

In an effort to get on the water opening day weekend, I ran across this rare find quite by accident. Castle Creek is an exceptional fishery and this property is an equally refined base camp for some of the finest spring creek flyfishing anywhere. Warm and inviting, this home-away-from-home is well appointed and perfect for up to four non related adults or families of six. Nestled in the woods overlooking the valley and stream below with a great view of the Castle Rock formation out of the kitchen windows, the floor plan is efficient with lots of light and plenty of exterior decking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Although we were there primarily to fish and relax with friends, it was clear that this is much more than a fishing destination with hiking, biking, and just getting away from it all as some of the many reasons to visit. I highly recommend this property and expect that our group's experience will result in a few more visits over the coming months, so you may want to book this gem quickly before it's too late!

We rent a lot of homes when we travel and by any standards this was one of the best! The location is close to best towns in Western Wisconsin, yet still secluded. The descriptions are very accurate and we found the place to be very clean. All communications with the owners were clear and helpful. The one thing that is different, as others have said, is that the family room and master bath are on the second floor in the lofted space. This wasn't a problem in any way, it's just something you should be aware of if stairs are an issue. There is also a stone patch with some steps to get from the parking area into the house. Again, not an issue for us, but something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. The open, modern kitchen is a huge plus - thanks for having excellent knives and a steel - you seldom see this in rental places! We loved the wrap around deck, the video library, the stars and the sounds of coyotes at night. This would be a great place for two couples to share or a fun place if you have kids.

                  Year Purchased: 2009

About the owner: We are Illinois farmers and have 3 young children who love adventure. In our spare time we love to hike, fish, read, play games and relax as a family!

                  Why the Owner Chose Fennimore:
The Driftless Area (an unglaciated corner of Southwest WI reminiscent of Upstate New York) is known for its scenic, wooded valleys, spring fed streams and rocky hilltops. It is a unique part of the country -- very different than much of the midwest -- and for those in the know, a special place to get away without having to go too far.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Our cabin was purchased unfinished and in some disrepair in 2009. Thanks to my architect wife's keen eye, some elbow grease and a desire to create something special we remodeled our cabin into the luxurious hideaway we have today. We enjoy sharing our little slice of heaven with others who appreciate the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the finer things in life. This is not a rustic cabin. While it is certainly off the beaten path, it is also modern, well-kept and luxuriously appointed. We appreciate guests who treat our cabin as their own home and have been very pleased to find that nearly all of our guests do so.
