We recently visited this condo and have some mixed feelings. We loved the location, the view can't be beat! Seeing whales and turtles all day was a treat. The condo was SUPER clean and the upgrades to the kitchen and bath were very tastefully done. However we were disappointed that they weren't carried throughout. A few decorations would make it feel more homey. Seeing screws in the walls where pictures used to be was distasteful. The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you would need which we appreciated because we enjoy cooking. For us the hammock, Bowes Radio and upgraded TV was a BIG plus. On the downside the extra small refrigerator and "Murphy Bed" were in our opinion bad choices. The bed was so uncomfortable and the refrigerator was so small. We had to make daily trips to the store which takes time out of your vacation and costs more too! There is plenty of room for a regular bed and refrigerator which I think would be a great improvement for this unit. The most disappointing part came at the end of our trip. We had originally booked our trip with the promise of a late check out, so we opted for the Red Eye flight back home which would allow us to enjoy a last full day of our vacation. Mid morning of our last day we received a phone call from the management company letting us know that the late check out that they had given us was being revoked due to them overbooking the condo - well all I can say is it was very disheartening the way it was handled. It put a BIG damper on our last day in what was otherside a nice vacation. As such when we do come back we will not stay in this unit again.

Owner response: Mahalo for taking time to provide your thoughtful insights. We appreciate the compliments regarding the view and kitchen & bath upgrades. However, we are disappointed that we failed on several other issues that are important factors in allowing our guests the opportunity to fully enjoy their limited time here. We have taken your insight to heart and added another small fridge so your time is spent enjoying Maui, the "Valley Isle", not the grocery aisle. Unfortunately, not every body is comfortable on every mattress but we do apologize for your lack of comfort. We have added a pillow top mattress cover for our guest's comfort. As far as the late checkout, our apologies for the poor communication. We failed on our end to communicate a misunderstanding about your late check-out and the incoming check-in. We are truly sorry that this marred your stay but your review has given us the opportunity to provide a better experience for the future. Perhaps we can even regain your patronage. Mahalo again for your insight and best regards.

This was our first visit to Maui traveling with our toddler (1 year old) and we decided on this condo based on the prompt and easy communication with owner Chris as well as the beautiful photos and video of the property. When we arrived to the unit from our long journey, we were ecstatic to see the gorgeous view of the ocean, island of Lanai, and a hammock on the balcony! We knew this would be our paradise for the next 10 days! Chris sent out a recommendation list of local purveyors before we arrived so we knew to stop by the grocery store to pick up our food for the week. With a full kitchen that has a stove, refrigerator and freezer, and a dishwasher, we knew we would be able to allow ourselves to truly live in the space. We were so happy that we felt like we lucked out on such a perfect condo for our needs. There were several nights that one of us would sleep outside in the hammock because it was so peaceful and relaxing listening to the waves crashing in. We brought home dinner several nights in a row from the chinese restaurant right across the street and ate outside on the patio table just watching the stars twinkling in the clear sky. On mornings, we would wake up to the calm ocean, the birds chirping of happiness, and the wind blowing into the leaves of the palm trees. During mid morning, we would view humpback whales spouting water and jumping in the air and splashing around. What a sight! The location of Pohailani is in the center of Kahana area which is between Lahaina and Kapalua. We thought it was perfect for our needs since we wanted to be in a more low key area. Some mornings for exercise, we walked 1.5 mile north or south along the coastal neighborhood street (lower honoapiilani street) to find cute shops and secluded beaches! There was an amazing farmers market nearby which we visited several times. As I've mentioned above, we loved this unit. It was super clean, furniture was up to date, location was good, and overall I would highly recommend it to a friend or relative. We are so fascinated by the magic of Maui and the hospitality of everyone around us. Our accommodations were perfect and even the baby items we arranged to rent with a local baby rental company. The crib, books, beach toys and indoor toys were already in the unit for us when we arrived! They had coordinated with the owner to come in and install everything before our arrival. We will be back very soon and would repeat our experience again!

The view and location are great, as advertised. The kitchen and bathroom are more than adequate. The Murphy bed is okay. But the place lacks decent, comfortable furniture. There is a small sofa, a footstool and a floor lamp. That's it. We had to ask for a coffee table and were provided a well-worn one. The two rugs, especially the one by the sofa, were very soiled. The description of furnishings uses the word "elegant" which is laughable. Where are people supposed to set cups, glasses and books while there? The unconcern for guests' comfort was a big minus for us.

Owner response: We are thankful for the honest advice you have shared with us. The compliments you bestowed upon us regarding the view and the renovations are very kind. We have taken a good look at the interior and have decided that we can do better to accentuate the attributes you heralded in your review. So, we've consulted an interior designer and are in the process of upgrading the furniture, window treatments, rugs, and coffee table so we may finish the condo renovation in the most comfortable and useful way for our future guests. Mahalo nui loa for your advice and hope this finds you well.

Great Location, really is very close to the beautiful ocean. We were visited every day my sea turtals just on the other side of the sea wall. Loved the beautiful bathroom and shower. Has a very large lani and is fairly private. The pictures are accurate but was smaller than I invisioned. We stopped and shopped for the week on our way from the airport. To our surprise the refrigerator is very small, two drawer's under the counter. We like to cook for ourselves. Their is only two burners and no oven. This is the main reason for not giving it 5 stars. I also wish the lani had some loungers instead of the hammic. If the hammic was up it took up the whole space. Overall we had a great and relaxing time and plan to come back. This would be a great condo for a couple that likes to eat out.

My busband and I stayed in this nice condo for a week and we had such a good time. It's so wonderful to watch the sunset on the balcony and fall asleep with the wave sound every night. The location is good too. It's close to many beaches. We like this place and recommend to everybody.

The condo is very modern, well maintained, very agreable to live in. The bathroom is fantastic! The lanai a dream! The view is breathtaking. The only things that we regret were: (1) you have to cross a road and walk 3 minutes to access the two swimming pools of the residence and these two swimming pools do not get a lot of sun and generally full of children. (2) there is no direct access to any beach. (3) the air conditionning was not working. So you need a car to get to the beaches, which is no big deal, if you have rented a car. All in all, this is a very very good value for the money!

Owner response: Mahalo for your thoughtful review Christian..I am sorry to hear the Air conditioning was not functioning properly. I wish you had brought that to our attention. We would have remedied ASAP. Glad you "injoyed" the experience all and all... Aloha Chris

We had a great time staying here. Chris was really great and provided a blow up mattress for my son. We used the grill almost every night. Beautiful sunsets! Watch the turtles swimming by from the lanai. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We loved this little oasis. Great view with soothing ocean sounds was the perfect vacation. Grass lawnchairs to sunbathe in the complex but not the direct beachfront property we expected. Beautiful beach within walking distance though. Great location to get to Lahaina and local grocery stores/restaurants but still peaceful and within drive a some beautiful hikes. Washer/dryer access across the street and wonderful shower when you get in from the beach. Will definitely stay here next time.

We have rented many VRBO properties in the US and Europe and this was one of our favorites. The size was quite comfortable for two adults and one baby and the sunset view each night was wonderful. We saw multiple whales, paddle boarders, and sea turtles. We cooked a fair amount in the kitchen and generally enjoyed ourselves. The bed was very comfortable. Kahana was a great choice for us. More low key than areas a bit south but still quite accessible to wonderful beaches and restaurants. Finally, we loved the bar height furniture on the lanai, which made the view easy to see. The only small recommendation I have is to replace some of the art work that seems to have been removed from the walls, which would make things even more comfortable. This is a very reasonably priced, clean, comfortable rental with the best ocean view around. Highly recommended!

Our stay here was excellent. This place was in an ideal location: a quieter residential area versus the busy hotel areas, ocean front with a breathtaking view, and a close drive to several beaches that are excellent for snorkelling. It is also right beside a nice sandy beach for relaxing. It is very clean with an updated kitchen and a comfortable bed. There is a wall air-conditioner (what is in most apartments), which we never used so I don't know how well it works. We just used the ceiling fans with the patio door open, for air movement. It is small - but perfect for a couple. The photos accurately reflect how it looks. The Lanai has an awesome view: a great place to relax out of the sun or enjoy a drink or two. This apartment is on the second floor. There are many good restaurants near by, as well as a dive shop and grocery store. There is also a parking spot - which I recommend renting a vehicle to get around the island. I recommend this place and will hopefully stay here again sometime.

we had a wonderful time in this studio apartment. It is small, but just fine for 2 people, and it has a large balcony with an incredible view of the ocean, islands and the sunsets. We loved having dinner out there on that balcony at sunset time. The place was clean, and had a great shower too. At night you can hear the surf; otherwise this place is very quiet. There is a nice beach right next door, snorkeling and watching the turtles right there. It is missing one star because there were small ants everywhere, and the WiFi did not work. We had to pack our food tightly, so the ants could not get in. However the owner was very responsible and helpful.

Just spent two weeks in this wonderful studio and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place on W. Maui. The unit is very nicely appointed with simple, yet tasteful decor, and has stunning oceanfront views. The sound of the ocean lulls you into a tranquil sleep after a day of soaking up the Maui sun. Sipping coffee on the lanai at sunrise and watching the day awaken over Molokai is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed BBQ'ing on the grassy lawn at sunset, toasting a day of snorkeling, sunning and relaxing at the beach. The unit has snorkeling gear, beach towels, beach chairs for your day excursions to any of the very near-by world class beaches. Mahalo to Chris Geng for sharing the Aloha and providing a very clean, comfortable place to enjoy Hawaii the way it's meant to be enjoyed. Can't wait to come back!

Stayed at The Maui Gengs beautiful Oceanfront Bliss Condo for 5 days in May 2011! The place was very clean, very comfortable, but the VIEW was the most amazing part... those photos don't do it justice! Great attention to detail (spices in cabinets, full bar of soap, lots of towels, beach equipment / chairs, laundry detergent, etc.) and the hosts were very flexible with timing! Maholo Chris and family for such a wonderful stay! Totally recommended. :)

We really enjoyed our stay in Maui and at the condo. The views of the water, sunsets, sounds of the surf and especially the great whale show that was put on everyday were remarkable. Next trip we'll remember the binoculars. For us, the condo is in the most desirable location on the island. Mahalo, Dale and Carol Hathaway Bellingham, WA

We stayed here for a few nights in February and the place was awesome; very accurate descriptions. Spectacular views! Loved the big hammock. We ate breakfast and watched the whales every morning on the lanai; it was great to have the ocean only a few feet away. Given the chance, we'd be back in a heartbeat. Thanks again Chris!

We came to Maui for our honeymoon and were lucky enough to stay at the Oceanfront Bliss condo in Kahana. We were very happy with the condo, especially the view from the lanai! The highlight for us was the whale watching - from the lanai - we saw humpback whales several days during our stay and it was amazing! The condo was comfortable, clean, well kept and had nice amenities! The pictures of the condo and the view are very accurate. We very much enjoyed our stay! Thanks to the Geng family!

We stayed here on our honeymoon last month we're still talking about how wonderful it was. The description and pictures dont do the balcony justice - it's fantastic - it's very large, has a hammock, table, etc - great for anytime of day. We watched the the sun set every evening right between the islands - and though there is no beach right in front (it's about 100 yards away), we could look almost right in to the water and saw sea turtles feeding in the morning from our balcony! It's in a great location - not far from lahaina, or the pineapple farms an coves to the north. There's great snorkeling on the reef in front too. The decor was nice and up-to-date, and though it isn't a huge place - it was perfect for the two of us. We didn't spend much time inside, though it has a nice couch and flat screen TV with cable. The owner, Chris, was also great to work with - nice person, quick responses, flexible with timing, the deposit was returned quickly. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this to anyone looking for a place in Maui.
