Welcome to Glen Cove, located on Hatteras Island in Rodanthe and only 4 houses from the oceanfront. Rodanthe is a small, unspoiled village not far from Nags Head. The beaches are wide, never crowded, and perfect for families, fishing, surfing, and sailing.
Glen Cove has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 (2 queen beds and 2 singles). Bedrooms are colorfully decorated, with attention to detail. All beds come with comforters, pillows, pillow covers and pedestal fans.
There is an outside shower (hot and cold water) with a dressing area, a picnic table, charcoal grill and a fish cleaning table. We also have 2 covered decks where you can sit and relax after a full day of activities.
A well-equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator with icemaker, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, many cooking gadgets and ample dishes, serving pieces, and cookware - all the amenities of a home.
There are several other nice touches: DSL internet access, DVD library, 2 TVs and DVDs. The house sits on a 1/2 acre lot, so it is very private, on a quiet street. There are ocean and sound views from the decks.
Glen Cove is available from SUNDAY to SUNDAY. One of the best features of this cottage is its location!!! Just 3 doors away from one of the most beautiful, family friendly beaches on the east coast. You're sure to enjoy your stay in this quiet, scenic location so close to the beach!
Thank you for considering Glen Cove for your next family vacation.

One of the most unique features of vacationing on the Outer Banks is staying in a cottage vs. a high rise condo or motel/hotel. When you find a place that is a short walk to the beach, spectacular views from the decks, a clean and cute décor, comfortable bedding, you know you’ve found paradise. That is what you have at Glen Cove. I would stay here again and again for any trip to the Outer Banks.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the review, Carol. I hope you guys will visit again. You are always welcome.

I absolutely love the Outter Banks and for that classic Hatteras vacation no house beats Glen Cove. It my second go round for this home and I rate it a keeper. Yes there are bigger and fancier homes, but for that down home comfy feeling this cottage is dead on. While being the 4th house back may seem a great distance don't let that get in your way. From the deck and the living room couch room you can gaze out upon the ocean and watch the beautiful sunrise while sipping that morning cup of joe. Beach access is just a short walk which is actually closer than some "ocean front" homes just down the road in waves. The thoughtful owners have added a pair of beach cruiser bicycles and a bunch of boogie boards. If you're looking for a nice relaxing vacation you can't go wrong with this cottage. Looking forward to future visits.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the great review. I glad you enjoyed your stay. It is always nice to hear what people think of our cozy cottage. Looking forward to even better things next year. Hope to see ya next year.

This is a great cottage. Well taken care of and fully stocked with everything. The kitchen is stocked over the top with everything you need to prepare REAL meals not just knock together snacks. In fact, the only time we ever eat out is for our traditional Friday night Lisa's Pizza (a must!). Everything in the kitchen they have 10-20 of...not like those rentals with only one place setting of utensils, plates and glasses. The bathrooms are clean and functional with up to date fixtures. I cannot comment on the indoor shower however since in all the years I have been renting at this cottage I have only ever used the outdoor shower!! (My personal favorite amenity) There is a Washer and Dryer as well. Many people look past this as a convenience since the idea of laundry and vacation are not always synonymous, but we rent for two weeks and I travel light so I may need to do a load mid week. The beach is right there...just a few short steps. I surf and there is a decent break on this section of the beach. If the waves are firing expect others to be in the water (testimony to the break) This cottage also allows dogs. Our dogs love it here. They know where they are when we pull into East Point Drive!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Clean, comfortable and convenient, The Glen Cove Cottage is the perfect single family beach lover's rental. Just a short walk to the ocean and a fun offshore break which you can surf even at high tide. No need for a cooler because you can walk back up to the house in a minute for a cold beverage. And, no need to drive because on the cruiser bikes from the new shed you can ride anywhere in Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for that great review! I am so glad the bikes are a hit. We hope to add something new every year. We have the best renters ever!!

My husband and I stayed at this rental June 3 - 10th, 2012. I would like to say, the house is immaculate! The pictures on the site do this home absolutely no justice! We were expecting just your average small beach rental, but this home was amazing. We are actually moving to the Outer Banks, and said several times we wouldn't mind having a home very similar. The three bedrooms are great sizes, and I must say the master bed was incredibly comfortable (so much so we peeked under the mattress cover to see what it was). The kitchen had EVERYTHING! The living room was comfy, and my husband really enjoyed the MANY DVD's to choose from. The location of the house is perfect! It's very centrally located if you're like us and enjoy going around to explore all that the outer banks has to offer. The home itself has everything you would need at home AND MORE! We ate breakfast and lunch all week at the house, and ate dinner out. It saved a ton!! Another plus is that we were allowed to bring our dogs (one service dog, one spoiled dog). They loved the house just as much as we did, and really enjoyed the short walk to the beach where they could chase crabs and waves. My husband and I never even wore shoes to the beach, it's so short you can just walk down the road and up the dune and you're there! When you get home and you (and your dogs) are covered in sand, there is a great outdoor shower and a water hose to spray off before you go inside. If you prefer to be totally alone on the beach, we recommend taking a right onto HWY 12 and pulling off the road when you can (don't park in the sand if you have a 2-WD, OOPS). We enjoyed 5 straight hours of swimming, sunning, and driftwood/shell hunting totally and completely alone. It was awesome! The only issue we had was with the door lock. After a phone call with the owner, we decided it was an easy fix and she helped us to fix it over the phone so we were on our way again. :) I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who would like a good roomy home, a central location, and something very close to the beach. We will definitely stay again if we haven't moved down by next June! Thanks so much for making our vacation/house hunting trip SO enjoyable! :) Elaine & Kenny PS - Take the trip on the Crystal Dawn! Not only did we see dolphins, we also caught flounder, a sea bass, and a puffer fish! :)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Wow, thanks for that great review. We are very proud of our little cottage and hope it feels homey to everyone like it does to us. I will say, I have to give credit where credit is due. That kitchen is so well equipped thanks to the previous owner. She thought of everything. We only added a few little things. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and good luck with your house hunting, Lori
