Costa Tropical - Granada villa description
“Carmen de Santa Ana” is a beautiful, spacious and tranquil villa with delightful and famous terraced gardens and its own charming large secluded private swimming pool, overlooking the ancient centre of Granada, one of the world’s most beautiful and historic cities. It is a perfect haven for large families or groups of friends to paint, read, make music or just relax in spacious tranquility right in the vibrant bohemian heart of Granada. Your base too for the exploration of Andalucia, or in winter for a skiing holiday with a difference.
It sits in total privacy next to the Alhambra itself a two minute walk up the hill from the Darro river that runs through the heart of the old Moorish town.
The furnishing is mainly 19th century in the living areas, with very-high-quality beds and bedding on larger than normal beds .....and an ultra modern underlying infrastructure.
The house has a fabulous view over the incomparable Albaicín, the medieval Moorish centre of Granada, and, remarkably, shares a garden wall with the gardens of the Alhambra, the greatest of the wonders of the Moorish period in Spain.
A haven with astonishing gardens, feels like the country, yet as central as it is possible to be......

Lovely villa and location, not good for physically impaired
Lovely villa and location, not good for physically impaired
This is a spectacular property backing up to the Alhambra. The house and gardens are lovely, clean, and well managed. Just be warned -- you have to park a good distance away, and the path up to the villa is STEEP, and I'm guessing about 6 flights of stairs. The elderly in our party were really struggling. But as long as you understand that about the location, it's spectacular, lovely, and highly recommended. The kitchen is huge and well equipped. You can have groceries delivered. Beautiful. And it was really a kick to look down from the Alhambra, or across the ravine from the Albacin, and pick out "our" villa.

Owner response: Thanks for your lovely recommendation. I could not have written it better myself. If you're elderly, you do need to be ready for the steps. My parents are in their late 80s. Dad prefers to spend most if his time in the villa enjoying the view and surrounded by his children and grandchildren, although Mum walks down to town at least once every day. By the way, I'd say the steps are LONG rather STEEP. We younger types (55-60) still take our bikes down to town most days. Bringing them back up the steps is an extra bit of exercise, but not so arduous. And as Joy says, you can have all your groceries delivered by the local supermarkets. Finally, we have had a number of visitors in wheelchairs, surprisingly. After we've got them into the villa, more on that below, the main floor of the house has a bedroom with en suite bathroom, the living area, the kitchen and the main terrace where we normally eat outside. No steps. Getting a wheelchair guest into the villa requires Mikel's help. He's our wonderful caretaker. Strong, kind, discreet and willing.
