I read all of the reviews before renting this property for a 30th birthday getaway for my girlfriend and all of our friends and I couldn't believe how spot on all of the 5 star reviews were. Ron and Laura are definitely the best feature of this property. They go above and beyond to ensure your trip is spectacular. Upon arrival Laura had fresh cookies and gluten-free brownies waiting for us as well as some fruits and veggies from her garden. The barn pavilion waiting beautifully decorated and had 3 tables set with candles, lanterns, table settings and was perfect for our Italian feast, DIY wine and cheese tasting. If you dig breathtaking views, accommodating hosts, jacuzzis, dance parties in barns, hiking trails, tempurpedic beds, and celebrating all things wonderful and rad, then the choice is obvious, Get your tail over to the Plateau Home.Did you find this review helpful? I, along with 20 other friends, had the pleasure to stay at the Plateau Edge last month for my sister birthday. I thought that it might be crammed sleeping 21 people but every person had their own real bed and space to spare! The balcony is incredibly spacious and was the perfect place to hang out and relax during the day. One of the coolest features is the barn pavilion attached to the house. It is a huge space where we all ate a formal dinner that soon turned into a dance party. Laura was a great host and made us feel very welcome. We are definitely coming back to Plateau Edge again next year!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

What an amazing weekend we had at Plateau Edge Retreat. First I have to say that Ron and Laura are the most wonderful and gracious hosts. Ron and Laura recommended a private chef who cooked us the most delectable, tender and moist chicken in four different flavors. Laura baked us the most yummy chocolate chip cookies and brought us melons, squash, lemons and other goodies from her garden. They both are truly fantastic people. They are so welcoming and accommodating. The house lacks for nothing and is super clean. It is even more gorgeous in person. The pictures do not do it justice. You feel as though you are in a 5 star retreat. 24 ladies attended a spiritual retreat and every one of them did not want to leave. There is such calm and peace surrounding the grounds and the house. The kitchen is a gourmet kitchen and lacks absolutely nothing. The linens were upscale and so comfortable. The beds were comfortable even the queen sofa beds. There are CD, DVD and IPOD docks throughout the house. The pool and spa are salt water and was absolutely divine. We also used the 10 person Jacuzzi that was right outside our front door, super nice. Ron and Laura have spared no expense when it comes to their guests’ comfort. I have already booked for next year. This is the type of place that once you come you just want to come every year. If you want to be surrounded in the lap of luxury with the most gracious hosts then this is the place for you!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Our group of 11 family members and friends came from the East Coast for a wedding in Temecula. The photos were accurate, it is an amazing house with amazing views. Laura, Ron and Alex are a wonderful family and were always available for any questions or assistance. We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner in the "barn" and whatever we needed was in the house (or a phone call away to Laura!). We had perfect weather and a great time. I only wish I wasn't so busy so I could have relaxed around the pool more often and ventured out to explore the Santa Rosa Plateau area.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We enjoyed our stay at the Plateau Edge tremendously. The setting couldn't couldn't be matched and the house is designed to enjoy its surroundings. The house was very accommodating to additional family members we invited to share this retreat. We had 16 people stay at the house and 29 came for a family gathering. All the teenagers expressed the desire to return. The proximity to the Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve was a plus. We all enjoyed the hikes it offered and two of our company enjoyed mountain biking directly from the house. It was a quick trip into Murrieta and Temecula for shopping and additional activities. Laura and Ron's hospitality made the stay special and Laura's cooking, with added surprises, was appreciated by all and made this trip a true vacation. Thank you for everything!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

I took a group of 22 women to this retreat and we had an amazing experience. Laura was so warm and welcoming, with fresh baked cookies, vegetables from her garden, and a personal tour around both properties. We loved the layout of the house, it's hard to tell from the photos, but it is set up for large groups to really relax and enjoy. The walls of windows all open up to the deck, allowing us to enjoy the perfect California weather. (the photos don't do it justice, it is a magnificent home) I slept on a comfortable mattress on the deck and enjoyed the cool misty mountain air. We enjoyed the hot tub and I ran down the hiking trail that is a few feet from the property. It was a lot of fun. This is my fourth year planning this women's retreat, we've had different locations each year, and this is the first one that everyone wants to return to. There was something special about the feeling of the home, we felt extra peace and healing that we've never felt before. I expect that we'll be back again next year! Thank you so much Laura and Ron! You are wonderful hosts and great people.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Rather than a review per say, I thought I'd just add the email I sent to the kind hosts of this wonderful gem.... Hello Laura and Ronald - I just wanted to let you know that we all had a fantastic time at your beautiful property! You are both amazing hosts, I have never experienced such hospitality with a vacation rental. Laura, everything you made was delicious, and your generosity with your garden is such a lovely gesture. It really is so gorgeous and idyllic there and it was great for everyone to have the time to go out and hike and adventure. We will all remember our 2012 New Year as especially warm and wonderful! Thank you, and I'm sure I'll be writing again to see when I can visit with friends again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: We are a semi-retired couple living our dream overlooking the Santa Rosa Plateau! We have a beautiful family, home, organic farm, and a fabulous rental property which gives us the opportunity to share our beautiful paradise with our guests! My husband,Ron Komers retired from Riverside County as Assistant Ceo, HR Director. I am Laura Loring Komers, a green architectural designer. We have combined our knowledge of people, eco-life, design and architecture to create "Plateau Edge". We welcome you to the Plateau!
Why the Owner Chose Murrieta:
This area is beautiful; the beach weather comes over the mountains, only 14 miles away as the crow flys; the weather provides seasons but is perfect for sports and recreation year round; and this area has the only natural plateau in Southern California (8300 acres) that is literally on the property's doorstep. This area is one of only 7 Areas in the world to have a Mediterean Climate. This climate can grow almost everything, avocados, wine grapes, vegetables, fruits, flowers. Our organic farm is on an adjacent acreage and we do grow everything!! This area is the best kept secret in California!!!!
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
The property's architecture has a lot of connectivity to the outdoors with over 2,000 square feet of decks and 2,500 square feet of patios with glass doors that open up to those areas. Placed on 5 acres of a tree-filled property (manzanita, oak, and pine)with amazing views in a rural setting for gatherings, hiking, biking and the Plateau--and wine country. The property has all the amenities for entertaining and having fun with outdoor dining and sleeping, ping pong, horseshoes, and darts. There is a jacuzzi and a shared pool and firepit. Waking up to the magnificent sunrises and taking walks is everyone's favorite but evening stars out on a deck is fabulous too! This property truly combines the convining with nature of camping and the luxury of a beautiful home. There are hawks, barn owls, and many birds unique to the plateau that you will hear and see during your stay. And with our organic farm on an adjacent acreage, there is every seasonal fruit and vegetable available for our guests use. There is also an abundant amount of english lavender and english roses at the farm. there is something for everyone whether you are seeking peace and quiet or a fun time with friends and family, this property has it all!
