I think having high expectations from all the other reviews being excellent set me up to be a little disappointed. My husband and I were excited to stay at a "romantic and affordable" bungalow for our 8th wedding anniversary, but I wouldn't describe the place as feeling very romantic. It also felt much smaller than it appeared in the photos, but that can be common. There were a few quirks that also seemed to put a little kink in things. First impression when we arrived wasn't the best with the key not being in the lock box and a neighbor having to let us in with a master key, which made me feel a little uncomfortable to know that a non-professional stranger to us had a key to the place. The owner was out of town and very apologetic that the cleaning person failed to make sure the key was in the lock box before leaving. My husband didn't notice it, but the place did not smell very fresh to me, but upon entering and also from time to time, I noticed a faint cigarette smoke smell in there. I don't know if the previous vacationers did not follow the no smoking rule or if it was possibly coming through the vent system from one of the neighbors. This is not a huge deal either, but there was only a half used roll of TP in the bathroom with no more in stock anywhere. It was comparably affordable, but still on the high side for us, which made these little quirks more disappointing to me. We still had a wonderful vacation though.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+.
Owner response: Michelle, I'm so sorry that we did not live up to your expectations however I would like to respond to your comments. First as far as the key not being in the lock box, the man who let you in not only is a resident there but also works for us as well which is why he let you in. I am sorry that it was not put back as it should be and if there was a smoke smell in the unit I was unaware of that and so I can only assume that the people before you did not follow the non smoking. I asked you when I called back if the unit was clean and you said yes! I wish you had called me back and I would have had the cleaning people come back and fix the problem. We really try to respond as quickly as possible to any problems and to please our guest . I hope that this satisfies your concerns and thank you for choosing us.

We had a wonderful experience at the Bungalow in Gulf Shores! The location is great, the Bungalow is clean and has everything needed. The only thing I had trouble with is we didn't have a place to store our none refrigerated food that we brought. But, we worked that out. It is a cozy spot for a couple for a romantic vacation which is what we were there for. Loved the beach even in the cold weather:) I would recommend Surf and Suds across the street for meals. Was not impressed with the Oyster Shack - overpriced for the meal we recieved I thought. Island Pancakes in the Best Western has an awesome breakfast with tables overlooking the ocean. That was nice. Walmart has a full wine selection and the prices were exceptional! Overall it was a great getaway for us. We truely enjoyed our time in the Bungalow and on the beach. Thanks so much to the owners for sharing your "Paradise" with us!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Mary, We thank you for choosing us and for the nice review. We hope that you will return soon. Thanks, Terry and Cathy

The owners were superb and very accomodating. It was a beautiful cottage and put in mind the old sea homes and the new seaside condos. The place and experience was exceptional...we found pleasure in every aspect of our trip and never wanted for anything. I simply cannot wait until I am able to return to what I now consider my beach home. I am most grateful to the owners for the fun and the beautiful experience. This cottage is the young and the young at heart to build memories and adventures also with a true sense of peace.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We really appreciate you wonderful remarks about Banana Bay Bungalow. We are so glad you consider it your beach home. We welcome your return and again Thank You! Blessing, Terry and Cathy

I would recommend this bungalow to anyone wanting a quiet and peaceful getaway. It is close to everything and walking distance to good places to eat and shop. Only a couple minutes across the street to the beach. You can enjoy the balcony with a view of the gulf and enjoy your coffee each morning. I would go again and enjoy this nice bungalow and feel right at home. Everything was just as stated in the photos. Thank you Cathy for let us share your bungalow and will return again.
