The house was everything it was advertised to be. It was clean, comfortable, roomy and well equipped. We enjoyed the weekend stay. We used it to ski at Whitetail @ 45 minutes away.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The Mrs. myself and our long haired miniature daschaund were pleased beyond words. Everyone prior has given so many rave reviews we are at a loss for words...(really different for both of us). There were so many subtle design enhancements, such as pine cone light switches, wood branch table lamps...just look at the fine touches. We hope to visit again soon.Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I had only a couple of days to get away and happened to find this beautiful cottage at The Woods - it was our first time there but it will not be our last! The pictures do not do it justice and it was decorated just beautifully. If you happen to forget something - don't worry - it will be there for you! We enjoyed a day in Berkeley Springs and any information you may want about surrounding areas where listed for you at the cottage. We had dinner one evening at The Club right on the golf course (not far from the cottage) - it was delicious and not overpriced. Greg, the owner, was very nice and very helpful in answering our e-mails and phone calls promptly! There are so many nice things to say about our stay and I would recommend this cottage to anyone coming for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. You will not be disappointed and we highly recommend it. Our stay was much too short but we will be back! Thanks again, Greg, for a wonderul couple of days in your beautiful cottage!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When we decided on this property to spend a week of total relaxation away from the daily grind of Metro Washington, DC, we set our goal of spending our time at The Cabin in The Woods by not structuring our time and activities. The Cabin in The Woods exceeded our expectations and allowed us to completely fulfill our goals. The stay was magnificence! We were totallly relaxed, spend quality time together getting reaquainted, read several books and enjoyed the splendor of the woods, wildlife and quiet invironment. We enjoyed the artsy-craftsy locale of Berkeley Springs and savored dinners there in some splendid restaurants that would revel Washington, DC. For history, we toured the Antietam Civil War Battle Fields and for more history, we spent time in Shepherdstown, WV shopping and discovering other spectatular restaurants for dinner. For recreation, we attended a Shepherd University football game in Shepherdstown, WV, not to mention the wonderful golfing available at The Woods and surrounding areas. But, the hightlight of our holiday was always returning to the comfort of The Cabin in The Woods for a restful evening of sleep, reflection of our daily activities and unwinding. We will definitely recommend The Cabin in The Woods to all our friends and have already begun the plans for a return visit for ourselves soon; perhaps in the winter when we can really enjoy the splendor of the area in the snow. The Woods Community is a gem in the wilderness of Panhandle WV and gives one the impression that you are in a totally different world but factually you are only an hour and a half from the bustle of the Washingon, DC Metro area. For all you readers of this, don't miss out on a wonderful get-away-time in a pleasant, comfortable lodging facillty (The Cabin in The Woods) that is beckoning your call for relaxation from the hectic stress of daily life. .Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We are a professional couple from the Washington, D.C. area who needed a peaceful weekend getaway from the city, and we could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Mountain Cottage. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, going out of their way to provide information about local bike rides, places to eat, and other things to do locally. The home itself is modern, clean, comfortable, and has every amenity we needed for our very pleasant stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. The master bed is incredibly comfortable- the sheets have a very high thread count and you just melt into the mattress. The living room is also comfortable with a cozy feel. The TV has cable and the DVD library has great choices. We loved the screened-in porch too; the couch on the porch is big enough to curl up on and read a book while listening to the crickets and the other peaceful sounds of nature all around the cabin. We also really enjoyed the mountain lake pool, which is a very short walk from the home. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Greg's house for the first time, and we found it amazing. My best discription is isolated, yet connected. We felt as if we were alone in this beautiful woodland full of deer, and other wildlife. But, it also has WIFI, which was great for keeping in touch with family. Loved the screened in porch for breakfast. Everything you need is in close proximity to the house. What a great way to unwind!!! Beautifully decorated yet cozy and comfy. Close to historic places and beautiful views of the mountains. Just loved it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have visited this house on a number of occasions and enjoy the furnishings, large deck, screened porch and all of the updates. It is always clean and the owners are great people. Never a problem and we will return and would recommend it to others. Great golf, nearby restaurants, quiet and relaxing. Hassle free like a vacation should be.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

This cottage was perfect for our family. It was clean and comfortable. The beds/linens were better than some hotels we have stayed at! It was our home away from home. The area was just the right amount of privacy we were hoping for. This was our first experience with VRBO and Greg made it a good one. He was helpful with all my questions and left detailed information about the cottage/area for us. Our young children had a great time hiking some of the near by trails. The location to DC was good for us since we traveled there and back throughout our stay. If we are ever in the area again, we definitely plan on staying at this cottage!Recommended for: Families with young children

We enjoyed our stay at the woods. The house is just as described and nice and clean. The beds are very comfortable. Greg was a wonderful host and even took time, from his own vacation, to help us out when the pool pass he left didn't let all of us in to the pool. The screen porch was great and a wonderful place to let our 2 small grandsons play. The kitchen was very nice and had everything we needed. Also loved that it had a washer and dryer!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My husband and I, with our dog, stayed at the cottage for 2 weeks this summer. The cottage is perfect. Most furnishings are new, beds comfortable, everything working, bathrooms and kitchen updated. Everything is neat and clean, as shown in the pictures. The cooking utensils were complete. We enjoyed visiting Berkeley Springs and Tari's restaurant, the WVA glass store in Martinsburg, and the bookstore and cafes in Shepherdstown. The minimalist shoe store there was featured in the Washington Post yesterday (9/15/11). Most places have outdoor seating and our dog was welcomed by all. We also liked the soft-serve ice cream shop in Hedgesville, which serves a "pup cup" for dogs. A minor disappointment was that the restaurant at the Woods Resort is closed, leaving only the Grille at the golf course open. However, the Spa is unchanged and we very much enjoyed massages and the Sleepy Creek Scrub with Vichy shower.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners.

This home was even better than described. The setting was absolutely amazing. Both the porch and deck were a dream. The furnishings were of superior quality and left nothing to be desired. Anything you needed was right at your fingertips. The golf course and pool were within close proximity of the house as well. We can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Greg's place is better than shown and described. I have done 3 of these now and one was a brand new log cabin in Luray, nothing could go wrong. The second was described as another place and the pictures were from 25yrs ago. It was awful and left a day early. Everything you need to be comfortable is provided and make meals and snacks. The place was sooo clean that it felt like a premium hotel. The furnishings were so nice and comfortable, the decorations were very creative and nice and the beds were great. The towels were premium, as was the bedding. I could live here and will go back as often as I can. It is quiet and the dog loved it and was relaxed and had great walks. This is by far the very best vacation spot I have ever choosen on line or with an agent. Greg, the owner was very helplful from the start and I have told many folks about vbro and how he was the best. I would reccomend this for a weekend getaway or longer if you have the time. The golf courses are beautiful and the pools and clubhouse are clean and inviting. If you are going to the Woods, this is the place, if you haven't been you must and you will love it at Greg,s Restful Mountain Cottage.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This was the nicest rental we have stayed at in the Woods Resort area. We loved it the first step inside the door. Everything was comfortable and visually it was artfully furnished. The added touches made it really special. The bedding and linens were really excellent, the screened in porch was a delight- and had really nice furniture in it. Anything we might have needed was there for us. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is only a half hour from the Hagerstown outlets that we enjoyed while the guys golfed. I wanted to stay longer when it was time to go.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful time at the cabin. Your place has everything we could have wanted and we appreciated the thoughtfulness evident in so many details. We especially enjoyed the screened-in porch (as did our cat) and deck; they were fantastic. Thank you for sharing your cozy cabin with us. Two people and one spaniel had a terrific time here over the long Thanksgiving weekend. The cottage is spotless, the furnishings are fabulous, and the kitchen is extremely well stocked, which was perfect since I cooked a big dinner and really needed a variety of pots, pans, measuring cups, strainers, beaters, etc. There's a nice flat-screen TV, and there's WiFi, which worked great. Because it was cold, we didn't get to use the large screened porch, but we hope to return in nicer weather. We took advantage of the spa at the Woods (great facials), visited the fitness center and also played tennis on the Woods' indoor court. Berkeley Springs is a short drive away, and there are parks nearby with good hiking. You really cannot go wrong renting this lovely cottage in this casual, low-key resort.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin is nicely outfitted, it's very clean and very well cared for. The description doesn't do it justice. The linens are top notch, the furniture comfortable, everything we needed was right there. The spacious screened-in deck nestled in the trees is a great place to socialize and to enjoy the scenery. Greg was extremely helpful in setting up our visit, and he made sure we knew he was available should any problems arise. (None did.) A+ all the way around.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented this home in October for a mother daughter get a way weekend and had a wonderful time. The house is very nice, clean, modern. We loved the open floor plan. The cold weather prevented us from using the enclosed patio, but hopefully we will be able to return in the spring or summer and enjoy that area of the house too. I would definitely stay at this home again, and would recommend it to friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin is a gorgeous vacation getaway. Nestled by a quiet street in a resort community, it offers privacy and solitude when you want it, room to socialize, a well-equipped kitchen, and clean, comfortable furnishings. The linens and towels are top notch. The dining and living area are great for a small group - we used it for a mini reunion of high school classmates. Well suited for two couples or a family, also. The deck is fantastic - there is a large covered and screened-in portion where you can take in the outdoors without worrying about rain or bugs, with tables and seating for a cozy outdoor meal or conversation around the coffee table. There's also room outside the covered and screened portion, with lounge chairs to relax in the open air, with nothing between you and the birds and deer. My dog loved the stay; Greg the owner is extremely thoughtful, and put out a dog bed, bowls, and a container of treats to make him feel at home. Greg's hospitality is fantastic, he was helpful throughout the reservation and stay. He made a point of providing his contact information should any need arise, but there was no need, everything you might need is there. We didn't take advantage of the many nearby amenities, aside from the grocery store and barbecue shack in Hedgesville. The ribs and brisket are both delicious! We did enjoy some walks on the quiet streets, and I took my dog for a stroll around the nearby pond. There are hiking trails within walking distance, for those looking for more vigorous exercise. This was my second stay at the cabin, and both visits were top notch! We're already looking forward to our next trip out!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family had a wonderful stay. The house is located in a quiet, peaceful setting backing to the woods. It has a large screened-in porch and a deck which we really enjoyed. In the morning, my son and I were able to watch the deer on the grass off the back deck. It was decorated very tastefully, and included every amenity needed for a comfortable stay. Even our dogs felt welcome with the bowls and treats that were left in the pantry! We also enjoyed the resort that was very close by, which included three pools, a spa, tennis, golf and fishing. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to stay longer than we did. Greg, the owner, is a genuinely nice person who made sure we had everything we needed, and was very accommodating considering this was a last-minute reservation. We hope we will be able to come back again soon and stay there in the fall!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My husband and I were so impressed with the cabin! The decor is outstanding (the photos do not do it justice). It felt brand new. The owners provided thick towels, luxurious bedding and small treats that we were not expecting (like Starbucks coffee, a selection of movies and board games). The main bedroom has a full bed with a large bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds with a smaller bathroom just outside the door. But the most wonderful thing is the living space. The kitchen is open with a six person dining table. The living room has a large L shaped sofa with a flat screen TV and cable television. The WIFI worked wonderfully. And the large screened-in porch out back is the best! We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My wife and I, with our Lab spent three days in this wonderful cottage home. A short hop to the Woods Resort Lodge, pool/spa and sports facility and a few steps to one of the two golf courses. Only 25 minute country drive to Berkeley Springs and Martinsburg. This home is very well kept and quality furniture and excellent taste in decorating. The huge screened elevated back deck is well furnished, private and a totally rerlaxing envirnoment. The photos do not adequately convey the quality of the property an the obvious attention the owners have given it. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone and intend to return this fall to see the trees in full color, play some golf and to relax by the fireplace. Our thanks to Greg and Kent Lynn for their hospitality and for accomodating our last minute reservation. Our expectations were well exceeded.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
