Our piece of paradise overlooks the Umbrian countryside and is surrounded by corn fields, sunflower fields and olive groves. The gated farm house, barn and surrounding buildings have all been tastefully converted into 8 homes / apartments with shared use of pool and grounds. We are part of a quiet, private 17 acre estate that is yours to explore, yet minutes by car from the closest hilltown for morning cappuccino! Our corner 2 story home, which is part of the old barn, has a large private walled and gated garden. The grounds and pool are magnificent, this is a very special property.
This home is beautifully furnished with local works of art and modern touches, to a very high standard, this is not your usual rental property. The two large bathrooms have stunning Venetian plaster walls and are tiled with tumbled marble, both have showers. All ceilings have old traditional beams and cotto floors. We have also had screens especially made for all the windows to keep the insects out and let the breezes in. The kitchen has every convenience and is fully stocked with everything you need. There is private parking adjacent to the house, providing easy access for luggage - no dragging it through the streets of a hill town. The pool is typically open from mid June - early September.
Situated on the road that runs between Citta della Pieve and Piegaro on the Tuscany / Umbria border there is easy access to both. Towns nearby are Panicale, Cortona, Montepulciano, Perugia.
This is Umbria at its best with easy access to the A1 that runs between Rome and Florence it is an ideal base for day trips. If you don't feel like driving the main rail station of Chiusi is close by and in 70 minutes you can be in Rome or Florence.
There are 4 other owners who are in residence on the odd weekend or for the Italian vacation in August, most of the time you have the whole estate to yourself.

My husband and I spent six weeks at this restored farmhouse property in Piegaro recently. It looked just like the photos and was definitely large enough for the two of us with two modern bathrooms and a good kitchen. Both bedrooms were of a good size and we had lovely views from the windows. It wasn't far to the town of Piegaro, but due to the narrow road and traffic, it wasn't safe or convenient to walk to the town. We did require a car, but found the location provided a very good base to visit other local towns both in Umbria and Tuscany. While we were there it was very hot and it was a little disappointing to find that the pool was covered, as we could easily have used it during the hot weather. The town of Piegaro is on a hill, very old and very lovely with narrow streets and lots of atmosphere. The townspeople were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We would recommend this property to others without hesitation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Sharon The setting was beautiful, the accommodations pristine and very comfortable, if only we had craftsmanship like that back home. We loved our long lazy lunches outside - (you should see the new pool furniture!). We loved our early morning cappuccino's at Gloria's in Piegaro, and our evening aperitivos (prosecco!) in the old town - thank you for all of your wonderful recommendations - we will be back. Missing the place already. Hope this finds you well. SDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We are an English American family living in the US with a love for Europe which is why we purchased this home as our European base. We have only been renting our home to friends and family until recently as we take great pride in the care of our home, however having used VRBO ourselves and having stayed in some wonderful places we decided to list our home also. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Piegaro:
To us Umbria offers the very best of Italy - as beautiful as Tuscany yet less touristy. Fabulous food and wine at half the price. This is the "real" Italy - most often it is you and the locals enjoying dinner in a restaurant. The hilltowns are abundant, and you are never far from Lake Trasimeno if you need to be near water, as is the case with my husband who cannot live far from the beach!
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Peace, tranquility, stunning surroundings, interesting wildlife - wild pig and boar! Yet you are never far from a hilltown with a fabulous restaurant.
