Our luxurious adobe vacation home, “San Juan”, is located in the exclusive and private community of Pueblo Encantado in Tesuque, New Mexico just minutes from the center of Santa Fe. This traditional adobe home is nestled in the hills of the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountain ranges adjacent to Tesuque Indian Tribal land. “San Juan” sits on the most prime location of this prestigious community offering the best 180 degree unobstructed sunset views of the peaceful and serene Jemez Mountains. This beautiful home has been completely redecorated to the highest standards in the unique Santa Fe style, featuring the owner’s private collection of New Mexican photography. “San Juan” comfortably sleeps four in the two well-appointed bedrooms including luxurious 400 count sheets and can accommodate up to four.
Staying in Tesuque makes your visit to Santa Fe memorable and unique because you can enjoy both privacy and accessibility. You have the option of feeling totally isolated, surrounded by the stillness and beauty of the New Mexican sky, while at the same time being close enough to enjoy a variety of activities.
In less than five minutes you can experience the fine culture of the famous Santa Fe Opera or hunt for unexpected treasures, jewelry and antiques at the weekend Tesuque Flea Market. Only 15 minutes from the colorful Santa Fe Plaza, you can buy handmade jewelry directly from Native American Artisans or you can shop and dine in world-renowned galleries and restaurants to return to the privacy and serenity of “San Juan” for the stunning sunset views. Or if you choose, relax at home enjoying our tranquil pool and surroundings or just walk across the road for pampering spa treatments and 5 star dining at the Auberge Encantado Resort and Spa. There’s also the renowned El Nido Restaurant, a favorite for the opera crowd. For more casual fare, join the locals in outdoor dining at the vibrant Tesuque Village Market.
Day trips abound and our location makes them quite doable because of the easy access to I-25 and Hwy 599. For suggestion, visit Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu to see where Georgia O’Keefe painted for over 50 years. Take the exquisite scenic drive to Taos and visit the traditional Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been continuously inhabited for 1000 years. Stop at the chapel, “El Santurario” in El Chimayo along the way, famous for it’s miracles. The sports enthusiast has many options with snow skiing at near by Santa Fe Ski Basin in winter, and river rafting, hiking, hot air ballooning and horseback riding in the fall, spring and summer. No matter how you choose to spend your time, our very special paradise, “San Juan,” lets you experience it all!

We enjoyed our recent 4 night stay at Pueblo Encantado so much that we will try to stay here every year when we come to Santa Fe. The home is furnished with a lot of attention to detail and has a very warm and inviting feel. The views from the patio were to die for. The master bedroom made sleeping so very, very comfortable that it was hard to get up in the morning. Overall, I would highly recommend this home for anyone planning a Santa Fe getaway.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We stayed a week at this condo and loved every second in it! My favorite time of the day was when my husband and I would get up early in the morning and take our coffee out on the patio and watch the sun creep across the hills. The colors were magnificent and we were often serenaded by birds and coyotes. The condo is beautifully furnished and there was plenty of room for us and our two grown children. It was a delightful visit and we will most definitely use this as our "home" base from now on when we visit our family in Santa Fe.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We booked this condo for a girls getaway and enjoyed every minute. The spacious bedrooms, comfortable living room and incredible patio and view were all better than pictured on the website. No other unit in the complex has this view. There were plenty of ways to get exercise with the surrounding hills to walk or hike. We picked up groceries at Whole Foods and cooked most of our meals in the well stocked kitchen. The sunsets, full moon and shooting stars were spectacular. We also enjoyed the locale--only minutes away from downtown Santa Fe and so many day trips to choose from. We managed to take in Bandelier National Monument, Chimayo, Truchas, and Taos, but will have to come back next year to enjoy more of the surrounding area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving week here with our two children ages 6 and 7 and loved it. The inside is well represented in the photos but the view is much better then even the photos demonstrate. The location was a quick 10 minute drive to Santa Fe but the location was wonderfully remote and surrounded by mountains and high desert. This house had all the amenities and was in pristine condition. The full kitchen allowed us to cook our own meals on several nights. It was quite cold while we were there but the heating system worked fine with or without the fireplace (though we used the fireplace in the family room a great deal). Leslie was wonderful to work with and gave us plenty of helpful suggestions for our stay. I am sure we will rent this wonderful place again in the future!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

"...descriptions and pictures on the VRBO site didn't do justice to actually walking on the the patio and into the front door for the first time. I could tell this was going to be a special stay and the smile on my wife's face at first arrival and the experience the following morning relaxing with coffee and the chiminea on the patio will not be forgotten any time soon. Only problem was I couldn't sit still for too long on the patio before I wanted to put on my shoes and start exploring the hillside or jump on my bike and go for a ride. Mountain bikers alert: take the road left out of the Pueblo Encantado entrance/exit and climb 592 to Pacheco Canyon road and climb some more until you come to either trail 254 (Winsor Trail) or keep going to Hyde Park road and then climb SOME MORE to the top of the Aspen ski area (over 10,000 feet!). Get on the Winsor trail 254 at the top there and enjoy an epic 1-2 hour DOWNHILL 10 miles of singletrack descent to Tesuque Canyon road, take that to Bishops lodge road to the Tesuque village market, take a right on 73, coast a couple miles to 592 and climb the road 2.5 miles back to Encantado and VOILA, a terrific half day 17-20 mile loop epic ride!"Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I were looking for something special to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and this Tesuque retreat exceeded all of our best expectations. The solitude, colors, light, and scents of the surrounding pinons and chapparal--gorgeous. The elegant decor was warm and inviting with well-appointed amenities. Everything we needed to simply cocoon, but a quick and leisurely drive into Santa Fe proper, w/tips on great restaurants, the Opera House & Flea Market all nearby. Private pool just across the street from the condo. Fabulous Encantado Spa a short walk, and hiking trails all over. All this for less than other condos we shopped in the area! We will never stay anywhere else when we return--and next time, we'll bring the kids. The place was spacious!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

About the owner: I am an artist who has enjoyed coming to Pueblo Encantado for nearly 20 years. I love being so close to town, yet only minutes away I can be in the quiet and solitude of nature to refill and renew my soul.
Why the Owner Chose Pueblo Encantado:
I have returned again and again to this quaint little village for quiet respite. The traditional adobe architecture of Pueblo Encantado with free standing condos make it an idyllic vacation spot to enjoy what I like best: swimming, hiking, skiing and relaxing in nearby spas.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
I love hearing the distant coyotes howl at night, gazing at the stars, enjoying a fire from the two indoor kivas. Visiting the flea market just a few miles down the road is a must for me when I am there!
