The Pisgah Suite has its own large private bath. It is decorated in a comfortable "country" motif. There is a wide-screen TV with DirectTV and a comfy chair for relaxing. Just outside the room is a shared "conversation loft" with two large chairs, a reading light, fine art works and a beverage center with a wine-chiller and single serve coffees and teas. In season, the room is stocked with fresh-cut wildflowers.

Breakfasts are a special treat and are usually served at a time of your choosing. Special consideration is given to individual preferences such as vegetarian, kosher or gluten-free diets. To the extent possible, we grow our own breakfast ingredients in two on-site kitchen/herb gardens or buy locally fresh, organic produce. Juices are always fresh squeezed and non-pasteurized. Every breakfast begins with a fruit cup featuring seasonal favorites.

The Montford neighborhood is a designated historic district containing more than 600 contributing homes, some dating back to the 1890s. Louisa's Porch is on the Southern edge of the district which is closest to downtown Asheville. The Civic Center and Grove Arcade are only three and four blocks away, respectively. Built in 1906 and totally rebuilt from the inside in 2007, this property is totally modern and "green" built. The HVAC is a geo-thermal system, which cuts electricity use by 70%, hot water is generated on-demand and almost all lighting is either compact fluorescent or low-voltage. Bath supplies are provided in bulk to avoid small plastic bottles in landfill.

The property includes an irresistible front porch with rockers and hi-quality landscaping. A private deck in the rear, enclosed garden is perfect for sunbathing (and soon, hot tubbing) or sitting by the open fire pit on a cool evening.

A beautifully restored Victorian home, sparkling clean, divine breakfast, lovely artwork. Friendly host who offers great recommendations for restaurants. Downtown Asheville is within walking distance. Rocking chairs on the porch invite conversation and relaxation. YES! I would recommend this B&B.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: I'm a database analyst who works contract positions in the IT industry. I have an active interest in architecture and the adaptive reuse of older buildings and the restoration of quality older homes. I lived in San Francisco for 32 years before moving to Asheville in January of 2008.

              Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
Asheville and Western North Carolina is a delightful area filled with friendly and creative people. This area is diverse in demography and in its attitude toward fresh faces and new ideas. People take time to visit with one another and to watch over the children and property of others. And the natural beauty of the area can be breathtaking.

The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
A stay at Louisa's Porch combines peacefulness and relaxation with a quick and easy opportunity to visit quality artists' shops and a plethora of fine dining restaurants... all without having to drive. People frequently park their cars here and spend the rest of their time walking to and throughout Asheville's village-like downtown.
