I had such high hopes for this home, and while the house itself is pretty and well-equipped, we had a lot of problems. No propane to BBQ, after we'd already prepped the steaks for dinner. The heat in the hot tub wasn't working and they sent someone out, to no avail. There is a woman who lives under the house, who talked incessantly on her cellphone and kind of put the blame on us for not putting the cover on the Hot Tub, which had NOTHING to do with it. There is a rental in the back, as well - which takes getting used to. There is NO outdoor space, to hang out - no deck, lanai, nothing - just the hot tub itself. The Smoke Detectors ALL lost battery power at once, waking us all 2 nights in a row, with those cheep cheeps… We couldn't reach them to pull the batteries out, they were so high. There is a sink IN the master bedroom which is odd, and the showers are not very nice. The neighbors on both sides are LOUD. Look, it's Kauai - which IS Paradise. But the weather wasn't great, so we wound up spending a lot of time in the house, and a HOT Hot Tub would have been swell. We had a good time, but only because it's Kauai. The location is great, walking distance into town and the beach - but because of all the above, especially Sheila who became an unwanted, annoying roommate almost… we would NOT stay there again.

Manager response: Aloha, Thank you for your comments. The caretaker that lives below is available to help remedy maintenance issues and assist the guests. I'm sorry she was more of a nuisance than help. We hope you were able to enjoy your stay after the hot tub heated and propane tanks were filled. Please contact me via email to find out how we can make it up to you on your next visit to Hanalei. Mahalo, Kahea
This is a beautiful and well maintained home located a few blocks from the beach in one direction and a few blocks from the main road with shopping, eating, and drinking in the other. My wife and I explored quite a bit of Kauai and were convinced that Hanalei was the perfect place to stay. This home, though expensive, is a good option for this neighborhood. That said, I have one complaint regarding the management company. Prior to booking I inquired about whether the jacuzzi was private to this home or shared with the other home on this property. I was told that it was not shared and completely private. We were surprised that, upon checking out the outdoor jacuzzi that it was located about 8 feet from the living room window of the small apartment below the main house. This is where the live in tenant resides - a nice lady who was polite and kept to herself. We soon realized that it would be a bit awkward enjoying a hot tub under the stars so close to somebody watching tv in their pajamas. We would have appreciated an honest and transparent reply from the management company when we inquired about the hot tub. That said, we had a wonderful vacation in Kauai and fully enjoyed the home.

Manager response: Thank you for your review and we hope you will return to Camp Magic! As for the hot tub, there are two hot tubs on the property, one for each house. I think what I should have been more clear about is that there is a caretaker that resides on the property. But to answer your question, the hot tub is private in the sense that it is not shared with anyone else. Mahalo!

We are coming back!
We loved this place.Location is great, it is well-equipped, and the view is lovely...would have preferred a larger deck but that didn't stop us from spending many evenings on it. Only problem was the internet connection which was sporadic at best. It obviously needs new wiring. I would strongly recommend this lovely place.

I just stayed at this great place with my wife and two kids. Its the best. Walk to Pine Trees beach, Pavilion Beach, "town" and the famous Saturday farmers market (not to be missed). The host was fantastic and had all kinds of great recommendations for us as well. Can't wait to get back...

Happy in Hanalei
Happy in Hanalei
We thoroughly enjoyed the location. My daughter loves to surf so the proximity to the beach at Hanalei really was convenient. We rented a board for the time we were in Hanalei so she had it available whenever the waves were good, which was almost daily! We could see the surf conditions from the window in the kitchen. We found the house comfortable as well. The air conditioning was helpful, but the house typically cooled with the tradewinds. The house was quiet; road noise was not an issue due to the location. Loved the clothes line for hanging laundry "Hawaiian style". Great access to kayaking, north shore snorkeling and beaches, and hiking. Minutes to restaurants and the quaint village of Hanalei, and minutes to two miles of sandy beach. We would definitely rent again...Mahalo!

On 2012 this home was completely renovated and transformed into a chic and cool beach house. Lots of spacious living areas to relax and get comfortable. The lower level is a game room with stereo system, foose ball table and card table.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Saturday morning farmer's market right in town - fresh local produce with a small flair of arts & crafts. We are located close to vendor rentals if interested in paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking or setting up other type of activities. Taking a helicopter ride or a boat trip to the Napali coast is all part of the site seeing adventure. Don't miss it!
