This was the perfect house for us while visiting family in Charlotte for the Christmas holiday. Only 7 miles from our relatives the house was spacious and well stocked. The bedrooms were large and the living area accommodated 7 of us easily. Definitely a better solution than a hotel. Thanks.

Travelling around New England we stayed in some great places but this was our favourite. It is spacious-- both in the bedrooms and in the lounge/dining area-and is spotlessly clean There are laundry and good cooking facilities and all necessary facilities for self catering-- such as towels, kitchen towels etc are provided. It is situated right on lovely Cedar Lake and, if the weather permits, there are outside sitting and eating areas. the lake itself is very pretty, especially in the Fall. It is handily situated for some wonderful areas, such as the Mad River Valley and only about 45 mins drive to Stowe. The owner had thoughtfully left lots of leaflets and ideas for places to visit. We would happily have spent the whole vacation here and plan to return one day. One slight downside,(maybe) is that it isn't ideally located within easy reach of restaurants BUT, with such a nice property, who would want to eat out?

We were very pleased to find a rental for our family reunion that would comfortably accommodate 12 people. Our grown children and their spouses and the very young grandchildren spent the week in comfortable bedrooms, a very spacious great room with screened porch. We were also met by the neighbor, Lee, and welcomed to swim at his cottage, however, after two days of clearing the dockside we were able to enjoy the waterfront without invading the neighbor's space. We enjoyed the peddle boat and the men liked the fishing with very nice catch of bass and pike. The "wired generation" were happy they could still keep their iPads, iPhones, and laptops going all week long. We did some hiking on the Long Trail and the young teens enjoyed playgrounds and baseball fields close by.

My husband and I stayed here the week of the 4th of July. We really enjoyed our stay and found the property to be clean, spacious and peaceful. The rooms are large and look as they are pictured. The kitcher was spacious with granite floors and granite counter tops. We especially enjoyed sitting in the screened porch watching the beautiful sunsets over the lake. While you can swim in the lake you cannot from this property. However, the neighbor, Lee, is very friendly and allowed us to swim from his dock. We also took the paddle boat out to a swim platform in the middle of the lake and enjoyed swimming and sunning out there. The owner is great to work with and very accomodating. All in all we had a great time. If you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all this is the place to go!

A group of friends and i stayed here and had a great time. The house is spacious with nice bedrooms and an awesome open kitchen and living room and nice balconies. Good space outside with the boats and hammock. Definitely would come back and stay again. Gives you the feel of being remote without being to far from all the amenities.

Our family of 6 came from Honolulu, Hawaii for the Middlebury College graduation. Even though the drive is about 40 minutes away, we didn't mind the peacefulness of the trip and we did not make that many trips anyway. When we were in Monkton to relax, this home was the perfect place to do so! The sleeping rooms are very spacious. The living room, balcony, and kitchen were very cozy. We hope to come back to this place again despite the long trip from Honolulu!

Our son was graduating at UVM, all hotels in Burlington were booked solid, we ended up looking "around" and we found a gem! Less than 30 mn from Burlington, the house offers a peaceful retreat from the busy UVM campus. We enjoyed the spacious bedrooms, the very large living room and deck and the barbecue on the lake shore. The property had all the convenience advertised and more... paddling and fishing on the lake was definitively a plus. Watching birds and chipmunks wandering in the garden fascinated our grand son. On the less positive side, the unprotected spiral staircase can be a hazard for under 6 years old kids. We had to constantly watch our 20 months old grand son to prevent him from climbing the stairs. But this is to be expected from grand-parents! All in all, we had a very pleasant stay.

The location is great and the rooms are very large but this is NOT a modern, let alone pristine or luxurious home. I have to second the previous review in terms of the humidity and VERY strong musty/mildew odor. There are air fresheners in all the rooms to hide the issue… air fresheners are NOT what I was looking for in Vermont…. Also, this house is not kid friendly (contrary to what is indicated on VRBO). The stairs are very narrow spiral stairs and young kids could fall through the top of the railing. There is an exposed outlet in the bunk bed bedroom that a kid can touch while laying down in the bottom bed!! Bugs were crawling all over the kitchen (racing with my 10 month old crawling baby…………). The rugs in the kitchen were disgusting. We were very disappointed.

Owner response: In response to the last couple of reviews. We were quite anxious to see what's going on at our property and took a trip to witness it ourselves. We had professionals over, pinpointed the moisture problem, as we were told that it was due to a very rainy sping and fall season with lots of storms. Since then, all the issues have been addressed and fixed. We are ready now to start the winter season. Thank you for the reviews, as it helps our future clientele. We take great pleasure in renting our home for vacations to 3 generations at one time as it has served 4 of our family generations.

When my family arrived, the house had not been fully cleaned inside, a load of dishes was still in the dishwasher and the outside porch and decks were covered in cobwebs, leaves and insect cocoons. The property is naturally very moist, being right on Monkton Pond, and so the 5 gallon dehumidifier had to run constantly and be emptied 2-3 times a day to keep the humidity in the house down. Nevertheless, the dehumidifier obviously does not run all the time and so the house has a musty/mildew odor. One couch in particular had a strong animal scent and while there are no pets in the house, we were told that some of the furniture was purchased secondhand, so they could not guarantee that an animal hadn't been around it. The location is unsuitable for swimming because the large amount of seaweed prevents any swimming. Although the fishing was good and the sunsets were pretty. We did complain about the conditions and the owner responded by sending out a young man to clean. He cleaned for 2 days to get the house into reasonable condition. Two days out of our six-day stay. It was unfortunate that we had paid in advance because we stayed after we were promised a discount, but never received it. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

I stayed there on the 4th of july weekend from friday to monday. This places is beyond thinking. We have enjoyed every single minute. The house is an excellent location. It has magnificant bedroom facing the lake. All the amenities inside the house is enjoyable and very very handy. You can view the evening sunset right from house. Our family is planning on the winter to go the same place. Even my 4 years old son said daddy this is call a living. It is truly a living paradise.
