  As an older couple tying the knot my bride and I were looking for a place to rent that was big enough to accommodate as many family members as wanted to attend. We have family from all over the country and wanted them to enjoy the trip without the concern of booking hotel rooms. What was got was an almost "Big Chill" experience with so many special memories built into it that I would fail to try and recall. What made this home special was that it lacked all of the "stuffiness" many rental homes make you feel. You felt like you could kick your shoes off as you walked in the door or walk about without shoes at all. I spent the days prior to the wedding in the "apartment" inside the home which is very private from the rest of the house. I had my own kitchen in the studio for my groomsmen to enjoy some drinks with me throughout the week. The two and a half kitchens allowed my mother-in-law to feel at home preparing for the big day. I spent my days leading to the wedding hanging out at some old stomping grounds, drinking cold suds at the Wind Jammer, which is just blocks from the house. A five minute walk put me on the ocean each morning to watch the sun rise, and the home's back deck was more than ample to hold our reception of about 20-25 people. The owner was incredible as well and quite acommodating. When our hotel reservations collapsed the day before our rental started he allowed us to take occupancy a day early since it was empty. Forget all of the 5000+ a week beach front rentals. This place is a HOME away from Home, and we plan on returning to celebrate my 50th already again this year!!!

  We just returned yesterday from a wonderful week spent in the Isle of Palms at the Sandy Castle. We were there for one of our son's wedding, and this house was perfect for us. The listing description was very accurate, but, the house was even better than it was described and we had expected! The many bedrooms were perfect for our large family, and the 3 different living rooms gave plenty of space for the different age groups to mingle, or "hang out" as our teenagers would say. Being only 2 blocks from the beach, and 5 blocks from the stores and restaurants made this a great location. The large balcony was perfect for our small rehearsal dinner we hosted, and a great place for coffee in the morning or eating lunch after going to the beach. The owner, John, was very helpful and very easy to work with, which made this rental excellent in our opinion. If we had a question during our time there, he was always available. We have already recommended this rental to other friends and family, and we hope to return again. When we were able to convince our children and teens to leave the beach, some of the places we loved were: eating at one of the restaurants at Shem's Creek and watching the dolphins play while we ate; visiting antique stores in Mount Pleasant; going to Charleston and visiting the market, museums, and the battery (plus looking at the historic houses and building along the way). We are looking forward already to our next visit!

  John was very accommodating and the house was a nice little compound. Plenty of beds, 3 living rooms, 3 kitchens large deck and close to the beach. Awesome rental!

  This rental was wonderful and so was the owner of the location. John made the whole process easy and was extremely helpful and responsive. The description on VRBO is accurate and in fact, it's even better in person. We were extremely pleased with all of the accomodations of the house and with everything that was provided. It was above and beyond what we expected. This house is perfect for a larger group because of the layout. It provides a large gathering/communal area while still giving everyone space and privacy. We went with a group of 9 girls and it couldn't have worked out better for us. There was plenty of linens, space, bathrooms and refrigerators! We could all get ready at the same time without running into any problems. The house is decorated in a very comfortable decor that is nice and upscale, while still livable at the same time. I recommend this spot and look forward to being able to return in the future. Two big thumbs up!

  This house couldn’t be better. We rented the Sandy Castle for a family reunion and our experience was wonderful. We played in the ocean, toured Charleston, eat fabulous local fair, and caught fish in the near by canal. The house layout is designed so that you are together but not without privacy. The location is steps from the beautiful beach, restaurants, small retail shops and the amenities in the house are very well appointed. I recommend the house to large families, groups of friends, and small retreat groups.

  We had a wonderful stay at the Sand Castle. The layout of the property allowed for great family time as well as some down time in our respective units. The quick walk to the lesser crowded part of the beach is great. The use of a washer, dryer, grill and the covered breezeway were very nice. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. Anyone staying here will not be disappointed with the property or the endless things to do in Charleston: the beach, the Aquarium, the Battery, the Market, the restaurants and on and on. My advice: book for at least a week to take it all in!

  We rented the entire Sandy Castle during the last week of June. We could not have been more pleased! It was the ideal location for our families to stay during preparations for my daughter's wedding. Each unit was extremely clean, nicely decorated and equipped with all items needed for a week stay. This rental is unique as it provides the space for family or friends to be close but also lends privacy between the three units. The owner was a pleasure to work with and accomodating to all our needs.. This was our first stay on Isle of Palms but it will, hopefully, not be our last. We were all in agreement that this was the ideal spot for us to meet for our next family vacation!

  This place is great! The photos do not do it justice! The place is adorable. The location is excellent, less than two blocks from the beach, close to town and other area attractions. Extremely clean and well maintained. The owner was very nice and helpful! I would highly recommend this place. We plan on returning next year!

• Perfection On The Water

  From the very start dealing with this property and owners was an absolute pleasure! My wife and I moved up our wedding to this August and needed a place for both sides parents and close friends to stay and really didn't want to deal with hotels. From the first moment I spoke with the owners till the final walk-through at checkout the experience was amazing. The property was awesome, we had 11 family members staying for a week and the accommodations were perfect. The three separate houses gave everyone plenty of personal space to relax, while the large "19th" had plenty of room for everyone to come together for meals, games and socializing. The owners provided everything you would need outside of stocking the refrigerators. There were fresh towels, clean bed linens (on amazingly comfortable beds!), kitchen utensils and flatware. They even provided a Barbecue (which cooked up some delicious ribs). The house is conveniently located withing walking distance for the Windjammer and shops in IOP. The beach is only 3 blocks away with access paths on either side. Only a 15 minute drive to downtown Charleston. The only thing that went wrong was my wife blew a circuit breaker in one of the houses on the wedding day, I called the owner and he was there within 20 minutes to not only reset the breaker but show me how and give me access to the panel. We spent a lot of time out on the covered porch where we could enjoy the lovely beach weather and keep out of the direct sun. This is a great property for a couple or a large family. Who knows, we may just have to make this our annual family vacation location
