Our First Family Beach Vacation was a HIT!

Our family stayed in this beach house and we loved it! The house was perfect for our family of 4. We were able to cook most meals, make as much noise as we wanted (good for our two energetic boys, ages 2 & 4), and get to and from the beach easily! We will definitely be back. I can see it becoming a wonderful end of summer family tradition!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children.

Our stay at Seashore Cottage was so pleasant. We were able to cook our own meals, which of course saved us money; all the necessary supplies/utensils were provided. We loved the fact that we didn't have to worry about our young children (ages 1 and 4) being too loud for the downstairs (or upstairs) neighbors since there are none, of course. The price is so affordable too! Suzanne was so accommodating and helpful from the time I began planning our trip, til the time we left the cottage. Definitely will recommend and hopefully return!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband, our puppy and I could not have been more delighted with the comforts and location of this sweet "Old Town Port Aransas" cottage. Dealing with Suzanne before and during our monthlong stay was a real pleasure; she was always accessible and responsive, plus she's an absolutely delightful and accommodating person. Thankfully, the cottage is well insulated and the central AC ran perfectly. Having the marvelous large canopy on the big deck gave us an enjoyable lanai, allowing us to be outside and shaded during August's heatwave, and to dine al fresco. We hated to leave and look forward to returning soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the review - and the note that the question marks were hearts when submitted! Loved meeting you both!

We had a very good time. The place was one of the best we have stayed at in our years of going down on our annual trip. We would recommend this place for anyone. Would be very nice for a family. Was close to all the action. Fishing action was what I was referring to, but not far from the beaches either. Thanks for the great time.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Stayed two nights at this cottage with my kids. We all loved it! Very comfortable, very clean, very well-maintained! Nice, quiet neighborhood. We will be back. I almost hate to give this a good review out of fear it will become very popular and will be hard to get back in!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a great time in Port A while staying at the Seashore Cottage! There was plenty of room for our 4 adults and 2 kids (7 & 10). Everything was clean and in working order. The house was just perfect for us, a short drive to the beach and right in town to make it easy to get out and about on a whim. Would defininely recommend staying here.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a wonderful stay at Seashore Cottage. The house was large enough for 4 adults and 2 children (age 3 and 1). We never felt too cramped and the dinning table was large enough for us to have friends over for dinner one night. Everything was fully stocked (only had to get paper towels) and Suzanne even got us a new coffee maker after I asked if she had anything larger than a 5 cup pot (we drink lots of coffee). Thank you, thank you! Every appliance was in working condition and the house was very clean. The large deck is awesome and I wish we would have taken more advantage of it in the evenings. The location is super close do downtown and the IGA grocery store and only 5 min drive to the beach. Thanks so much for letting us stay and providing such a comfortable place. This marked our third year of taking a one-week beach vacation in Port A. The last two years we selected a condo found on VRBO and enjoyed it just fine. Last year, though, we found we already outgrew the condo (family grew to x2 children) and we knew this year we'd want a larger place. This cottage was all we hoped it would be, and SO much more! Excellent location close to groceries, restaurants, AND beach! The deck is outstanding! Interior is impeccable! Appliances, living space, decor, we cannot say enough about just how pleased our experience was. This year it was our core family (x2 adults, x1 3yo, x1 1yo) for the full 7 days. For a few nights we had additional family members AND x2 small dogs. So, x4 adults, x2 children, x2 dogs for about 3 days...PLENTY of room for all to be comfy and enjoy the surroundin area!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Leona Belle Turnbull Birding Center. View on map
From SH 361 at the ferry landing, take Cut-Off Road to Ross Avenue and follow the signs to the Leona Belle Turnbull Birding Center. This birding facility attracts birds and birders alike. The boardwalk stretches nearly a mile over the shallow, brackish water and allows for close observation of many birds. From the observation platform look for waterfowl (Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Cinnamon Teal), grebes (Least included), heron and egrets, cormorants, shorebirds (such as Black-necked Stilt) and flaming pink Roseate Spoonbills, the Port Aransas city bird. The parking area and land along the boardwalk are planted in native species, so be alert for landbirds during migration. Keep your eyes open for the resident American alligators Boo

Port Aransas Nature Preserve View on map
Formerly known as "Charlie's Pasture". The recently opened Port Aransas Nature Preserve encompasses 1,217 acres where early island residents once grazed their cattle. The Preserve features over two miles of hike and bike trails and includes a pavilion, boardwalks over algal flats, crushed granite trails on the uplands, covered seating sites and a tower overlooking wetland areas around Salt Island. The natural area’s extensive tidal flats provide feeding areas and important habitat for shorebirds and endangered and threatened species such as the piping plover. The entrance to the Preserve is at the end of Port Street, and adjoins the Community Park and the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: We moved to Port Aransas in 2008. Suzanne is a Massage Therapist (Massageworks Port Aransas). Charlie was a Merchant Marine Officer but is now remodeling houses and restoring a 1966 Hinckley 48 Sailboat.
Why the Owner Chose Old Town:
We bought this house because it was on a great street close to town! It was a lot of fun being creative with the remodel. We took the place back to studs and added all new sheetrock, cedar accents, central a/c. We thought since it was a small place we could do lots of fun finish out with it. It turned out to be more work and way more money than we intended, but it's great now! I love how everything turned out. It's sunny and cozy with everything you need!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love having a quiet place to walk. It's so much fun to be able to walk out of our quiet spot and be right in the middle of restaurants and shopping!
We love Port A! There's so much to do here.
