Why the Owner Chose Old Town

We bought this house because it was on a great street close to town! It was a lot of fun being creative with the remodel. We took the place back to studs and added all new sheetrock, cedar accents, central a/c. We thought since it was a small place we could do lots of fun finish out with it. It turned out to be more work and way more money than we intended, but it's great now! I love how everything turned out. It's sunny and cozy with everything you need!

The Unique Benefits at this House

We love having a quiet place to walk. It's so much fun to be able to walk out of our quiet spot and be right in the middle of restaurants and shopping! We love Port A! There's so much to do here.

UTMSI Wetlands Education Ctr

The Wetlands Education Center, an educational resource for the citizens of Texas and a "living laboratory" for students and scientists, is a 3.5 acre salt marsh surrounded by sheltering dunes. An extensive boardwalk system and observation platforms allow people to walk around the marsh area without disturbing the environment. Explore the marsh and learn how plants and animals adapt to life in this wet, salty habitat during biweekly guided walking tours. Tour days and times change seasonally, so please contact the UTMSI Visitor Center (361-749-6805) for current tour schedule information.

H
Leona Belle Turnbull Birding Center.

From SH 361 at the ferry landing, take Cut-Off Road to Ross Avenue and follow the signs to the Leona Belle Turnbull Birding Center. This birding facility attracts birds and birders alike. The boardwalk stretches nearly a mile over the shallow, brackish water and allows for close observation of many birds. From the observation platform look for waterfowl (Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Cinnamon Teal), grebes (Least included), heron and egrets, cormorants, shorebirds (such as Black-necked Stilt) and flaming pink Roseate Spoonbills, the Port Aransas city bird. The parking area and land along the boardwalk are planted in native species, so be alert for landbirds during migration. Keep your eyes open for the resident American alligators Boo

The natural area’s extensive tidal flats provide feeding areas and important habitat for shorebirds and endangered and threatened species such as the piping plover. The entrance to the Preserve is at the end of Port Street, and adjoins the Community Park and the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center.

Loved our stay at the Seashore Cottage!

Guest: beachmom (Burleson, TX)

We had a great time in Port A while staying at the Seashore Cottage! There was plenty of room for our 4 adults and 2 kids (7 & 10). Everything was clean and in working order. The house was just perfect for us, a short drive to the beach and right in town to make it easy to get out and about on a whim. Would defininely recommend staying here.

Awesome Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Seashore Cottage. The house was large enough for 4 adults and 2 children (age 3 and 1). We never felt too cramped and the dinning table was large enough for us to have friends over for dinner one night. Everything was fully stocked (only had to get paper towels) and Suzanne even got us a new coffee maker after I asked if she had anything larger than a 5 cup pot (we drink lots of coffee). Thank you, thank you! Every appliance was in working condition and the house was very clean. The large deck is awesome and I wish we would have taken more advantage of it in the evenings. The location is super close do downtown and the IGA grocery store and only 5 min drive to the beach. Thanks so much for letting us stay and providing such a comfortable place. The Kelly's

We LOVE this cottage!

Guest: SteveM (Austin, TX)
Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/24/11

This marked our third year of taking a one-week beach vacation in Port A. The last two years we selected a condo found on VRBO and enjoyed it just fine. Last year, though, we found we already outgrew the condo (family grew to x2 children) and we knew this year we'd want a larger place. This cottage was all we hoped it would be, and SO much more! Excellent location close to groceries, restaurants, AND beach! The deck is outstanding! Interior is impeccable! Appliances, living space, decor, we cannot say enough about just how pleased our experience was. This year it was our core family (x2 adults, x1 3yo, x1 1yo) for the full 7 days. For a few nights we had additional family members AND x2 small dogs. So, x4 adults, x2 children, x2 dogs for about 3 days...PLENTY of room for all to be comfy and enjoy the surroundin area!

Wonderful Place

Guest: Juan (Sugar Land, TX)
Date of Stay: 04/14/11 Review Submitted: 04/18/11

Went to check out sandfest this weekend at Port A and stayed in this cozy cottage. It was great! We felt at home the moment we walked in. There was a total of 6 in our party and we all fit very comfortably. We were all pleasantly surprised to find everything we needed from beach towels to cookware to games for the kids, this place has everything you need and then some. The pictures of the beautiful warp-around porch really don’t do the place justice. It was huge and so relaxing to hang out on. We took a drive around some of the other places that were for rent around the area and we all agreed we got the best place at a great price. We will defiantly go there again. Thank you for sharing this lovely place with us.

Great Stay!!

Guest: Gladys (Arlington,Tx)
Date of Stay: 12/21/10 Review Submitted: 12/31/10

Vacation house was exactly as described. Furnished very nicely and everything well taken care of. Quiet neighborhood and short walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Very short drive to beach or walk if you preferred. We really had a great vacation in Port Aransas and our Shi Tzu loved walking on the wrap around deck and watching the people go by. Owners extremely easy to work with and a pleasure to do business with.

Owner response:Thanks for the great review!

Great Times - Easy to Work With

Guest: Pels630 (Denton, Texas)

The owners are very nice and helpful. The washer/dryer combo was a life saver, did not need to pack as many clothes to save room in the vehicle for the drive from N. Texas. House completely updated and very pleasant. And the huge deck is great in the evening to separate yourselves from the kids. Thanks again

Owner response:It was great meeting you all. Glad everything went well! Hope to see you again!

Excellent Vacation Stay

Guest: Justin (San Antonio, TX)
Date of Stay: 07/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/13/10

Our family of 6 stayed at the Seashore Cottage for a weekend getaway to the beach. The place was very clean & still had that brand new smell to it. We all slept comfortably, the beds were great, & had it plenty of towels. The photos & description are all very accurate. We found it to be absolutely perfect and would recommend to all especially families with small children (they liked the bunk beds). Even the dog had a great time and we hope to go back soon! Another note - the property owners were very nice & went out of their way to return a wrist watch that got left behind. I mention it only because it goes to show the kindness & honesty they have & it adds to the quality of their home. Once again we really appreciate everything thank you Charlie & Suzanne.

My family & I stayed here for the Fourth of July weekend and were blown away!! No pun intended! We were very pleasantly surprised to see that this cottage was as beautiful as the photos show and the owners put special care into the renovations. We loved the newly installed wood floors and wrap around deck which we were able to see the spectacular fireworks display from. This cottage is centrally located to all the best Restaurants and just a short drive to the beach. The owner Suzanne is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we visit Port A next year.
