We had a very nice weekend at the cabin, which looks just like the pictures, and wish it had been longer. Actually, more pictures of the views should be posted. You can see mountains in two directions and there is pasture across the river where you can see the occasional cow. There was only two of us, so there was plenty of space to relax, cook, and enjoy the scenery. The decor is uncluttered and clean, which is such a nice change of pace from many of the mountain cabins that seem so cluttered and dark. The bedroom is large and comfortable, and easily accommodates four. The kitchen has all the required basics and is functional and modern. The dining area sits six comfortably, and the outdoor area would accommodate more folks during warm weather. We really enjoyed taking the canoe out fishing and paddling. We will be back in the summer when we can enjoy the river more. It looks like it is the perfect place for swimming. The only drawback is that the living room only has one futon to sit on, which was not comfortable on my bad back and would not have fit more than two adults for an evening watching a movie. And the showerhead needs to be replaced. However, those are minor issues and don't detract from the overall experience. Overall we recommend!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Great place for staging trips to Shenandoah Park/Skyline drive. Took us about 15 min to get to Skyline drive from the cabin. Well kept place...very clean and had all the amenities we would need. If you look in the desk/cabinet right inside the door you will find a lot of brochures and info for the area. It is indeed right on the river and is easy to launch a canoe and paddle around. The owner was great with email communications before the trip...answering any questions or concerns we had. The water has a strong sulfer smell to it and really was the only thing that was not perfect.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

As advertised. Great location.. close to stores, yet isolated once at the home. My son loved the large bean bag. He stated it was his best vacation. Trying to make it back in the late summer 2012.Recommended for: Families with young children.

What a great weekend that my husband and I had this weekend courtesy of the Yates Family cabin! The cabin is nice, clean, stocked with the essentials, and secluded along the river. The description of the property along with the pictures on VRBO are very accurate. The cabin has all of the basic necessities which is just what we were looking for, nothing over the top or elaborate! The downstairs has a great living space with the forest wall paper, open layout, nice kitchen, and great views. This place is great for one couple or a small family with kids. There are many things to do outside from a campfire pit, to a swingset for kids, great access to the river for fishing or canoeing, etc. Luray, VA isn't far away if you wish to visit the caverns, the entrance to Skyline drive is a short drive, and there is a Walmart and Food Lion close by if you need to gather supplies before coming. Of note for people with small cars, the driveway may be a little hard to navigate down to the cabin due to the terrain/path so it is best suited if you have a SUV or truck so that you don't scrap the bottom of your car. Overall, a great cabin and a great time for anyone looking for a quiet oasis! ** Of note, the owners were very prompt in answering my questions and the rental process and check-in was very easy to do. They offer paypal which is great!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Our group of six spent the weekend at this location and had a great time. The kitchen was well-appointed and the common space was spacious enough to accommodate six adults without feeling cramped. The owners provided plenty of firewood for campfires and the gas grill and picnic table by the river were great spots to hang out. Finally, the large amount of grass made perfect playing fields for tossing frisbees and footballs. From the cabin, it's a quick and easy drive to get to town for groceries or to Walmart for supplies and there's a gas station a few minutes away for light groceries, beer, and ice. Just two notes: For those who are bug-squeamish, the large bug population around the Shenandoah River is second to none (huge luna moths, dobsonflies, etc.) so be prepared. We're more of the "let's poke it and see if it moves" sort so it was a good source of entertainment. Second, the road in is semi-improved gravel with a hump in the middle. We made it in fine -- but a couple of cars had some fairly large scrapes with ground on the way in, so I would advise against driving a fancy low-riding car in. All in all, a great time and a great location.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Luray:
We purchased this river lot in 2004, and my husband decided to put up a tent platform so that we may pitch a tent and camp. Without going into all the detail, what we ended up with is this cabin, which, by the way, was built entirely by my husband and myself, with the help of some very dear friends.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The location of this cabin is majestic, and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. -The Yates Family
