My husband and I stayed at this location during the first week of November 2011. The apartment is small, suitable for 1 or maybe 2 people, only. Fortunately, we had made the decision, before arriving, that we would not cook in, but would use this last week in Greece to have our fill of traditional dishes and to enjoy the Greek dining experience. The kitchen really wasn't suitably designed for doing more than juice and buns at breakfast. Altho clean to a fault, and quiet, we found the apartment dark and cool. There was a washer but we didn't use it because there really wasn't much room to stretch out the drying rack and nothing would dry! The saving grace of this location is exactly that. There could not be a better place, we're sure, for exploring the city of Athens. Everything was at our doorstep.....restaurants, tavernas, groceries. Metro stops were 5 min. away....This was the perfect spot for exploring Athens on foot. The Acropolis was always in view!! We had to contact the owner concerning the WiFi. He responded promptly and was very helpful.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Staying here was a good choice. It is centrally located, with a choice of two metro stops and the hop on / hop off tour bus stops are also near. The neighborhood is fantastic with all the shops and restaurants and literally minutes away from everything. The apartment was cozy, with plenty of storage space. It was included all the basic amenities and was comfortable to stay in. The building was charming and felt very safe. Paris was amazing with help from start to finish, and his apartment manager was friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to stay in Athens.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+.

We stayed for a few days for our visit to Athens in September, 2011. While the apartment is small (typically sized, I suppose, for Europe), it was clean, functional, and VERY conveniently located to all the major sites in downtown Athens. The apartment consists of a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and small kitchenette area (small fridge, sink, hot water pot). The apartment has a FANTASTIC air-conditioner, which came in handy during our visit, as we had warmer-than-normal temps for the time of year. The windows in the apartment all open to interior courtyard spaces, which means we had little street noise to contend with (which was nice!). It's located on the third floor of a multi-use building and is within easy walking distance of all the major sites (Acropolis, Syntagma square, Agora, etc etc), metro stops, and just one block from the main dinner / restaurant area of the Plaka. Paris, the owner, was great to work with from first contact to booking to wrap-up at the end of the trip!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We spent a week here in April & were very comfortable! The apartment is cosy with a small kitchen & separate lounge room & couldn't be better located - in 10 or so minutes you can walk to any of the ancient ruins, Syntagma or Monastiraki station. Paris, the owner, is friendly & very helpful with many hints & tips on the area. We would definitely return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Perfectly situated by Athens Cathedral (which means ANYone can point you home if you're lost), the flat's only a few blocks from Syntagma subway station OR Plaka OR the Acropolis OR the shopping district OR Monastiraki flea market or basically ANYthing you will want to see. The courtyard next door has restaurants (a few are open until late so you can have treats under the stars and then be home in seconds!) plus a big Starbucks with plenty of maps and guidebooks. There's a nearby chemists, ATM, and grocery, so it's easy to get anything - or anywhere - you want. It's light and airy, painted and decorated VERY elegantly, and has high ceilings so we never felt cramped. The kitchenette has basic gear and a club fridge, the living room is comfy with a nice foldout couch and TV. The bedroom is charming and has a large armoire - PLUS the bed isn't rock-hard (like most Greek beds, for some unknowable reason), with new, pretty linens. The bathroom is very small, which is typical of Greece, but it's spotless (just like the rest of the apartment - clean clean clean!) and pretty, with modern fixtures, and a WASHER! Two things I wasn't expecting: The windows open over a non-decorative atrium between our building and the next, so you can't see the street - but you get plenty of light and air anyway, and we were only home to sleep, so who cared? Also, the building is mixed-use with residences and offices - which is odd to an American - but we only ever saw 1 or 2 other people the entire week which was great. Total privacy! I am planning a return trip and will definitely be staying here - the price is lower than any decent hotel in town, you get a washer, and all you miss is being surrounded by loud, dumb tourists. Paris, the owner, is professional and personable - very nice to deal with and helpful. Lastly - if you stay here, please be nice to the street dog who sleeps on the lobby doormat. He is very sweet but usually thirsty. And tell him I'll see him soon! :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our experience at this Plaka flat was excellent! The location is in the center of all the activity in Athens just as described. We really felt immersed into the city. The apartment was very comfortable, but the shower was narrow. The owners were very accomadating and pleasant to work with.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Perfectly situated for those who want to explore Plaka, Kolonaki, Monastiraki, and all the major archaeological sites, this small but lovely apartment was the perfect base for our second trip to Athens. The bed and furniture were comfy, the kitchen great for early-morning and late-night snacks, and the clothes washer was our new best friend. The owner, Paris, was mellow, helpful, and charming. We'll definitely stay there again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Located right on the lovely marble plaza behind Athens Cathedral, church bells chime you awake and send you to sleep in this spotlessly clean, well-appointed (a washer!), prettily decorated, and perfectly maintained apt seconds away from Plaka, metro stops, attractions, and more. Rooms were small, but typical of any big city apartment (I have friends in Manhattan who'd kill for that much room!), and the separate living room (with foldout couch) made it feel like a real home. The kitchen is bare minimum (but with fine restaurants and a Starbucks just steps away on the plaza, who cares?). We felt like locals and lived like kings on the money we saved avoiding overpriced hotels. Will most definitely rent this apartment again when we next come to Athens and recommend it to all our friends visiting the city.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Why the Owner Chose Athens:
Plaka is the picturesque old historical neighbourhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. It is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens.
Plaka is under strict zoning and conservation regulations, being the only neighborhood in Athens where all utilities (water, power, cable television, telephone, internet, and sewage) lie underground in fully accessible, custom-made tunneling.
Motor vehicles are not allowed in Plaka, and most streets are too narrow, thus not being able to accommodate them anyway.
It is the perfect location from which to explore Athens.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Plaka is the perfect location from which to explore Athens. The area is very central yet picturesque. From Plaka guests can easily walk to all major archeological sites, Monastiraki's antiques and flee market, 2 Metro stations (Syntagma and Monastiraki which is directly linked to Athens Airport), taxi links, amenities and Psiry's & Gazi's buzzing nightlife.
Museums in Plaka include the new Jewish Museum of Greece, the Museum of Greek Folk Art, an annex of which is the Old Public Baths building, the Frissiras Museum, the Museum of Popular Music Instruments, the Museum of Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou and the Athens University Museum.
Excavations have proven that Adrianou Street (the central pedestrian steet of Plaka) is the oldest street in Athens still in continuous use with the exact same layout since antiquity. Of special interest is the neighborhood of Anafiotika, the part of Plaka that is built against the northern slope of the Acropolis; built by settlers from the Aegean island of Anafi in the early 19th century, it features traditional Cycladic architecture.
