Owner info
Year Purchased: 1771
About the owner: The property has always been in the family and has been passed down for seven generations. It is a 1771 land grant from King George III of England. The barns were built in 1771-1772 and the renovated colonial farmhouse was built around 1785, then added on a few times. The owners, Rick and his wife Charlene have continued the dual operation of hospitality with the B and B and now house the horses instead of cows (when his grandmother ran it as a hospitality place and Rick, his father, and grandfather had a daily farm). The rooms have a classic New England character yet some have luxury amenities such as 2-person Jacuzzis &/ or fireplaces. Charlene has a background in fine arts and landscape architecture and enjoys working in the garden. In the summer, the breakfast plates are garnished with edible flowers.
Why the Owner Chose North Conway:
Since my husband did not buy the inn we continue to live here and run the inn because of the history, the beauty of the inn and the acreage of the property-lots of space and panoramic mountain views yet it is close the town. It is unusual to have such large acreage with out having a large hotel- this is much more historic, much more private with the amount of rooms available.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
Guests have a chance to kick-back and relax on 70 scenic acres. There are many places to relax, on the wrap around porch, in the gardens with a pond, on the grounds whether in a hammock, sitting down by the river, taking a stroll, bird-watching in the morning (several habitats) taking a horse ride or snowshoeing in the winter.
