The Shore Room is one of 5 bedrooms in Barclay Cottage Bed and Breakfast which is one of the most historic continuously operating lodging facilities in Virginia. Built in 1895 and welcoming guests since 1917, it is nestled in an historic neighborhood only a 3 minute walk to the beach. Built in Victorian cottage style with two story wrap around porches, this bed and breakfast is a romantic alternative to high-rise beach hotels/motels. The Shore Room which has either 2 twin beds or a Euro-king, is furnished with antiques and fine reproductions, hand made quilts and Victorian memorabilia.
Full multi-course gourmet breakfasts are included in the room rates as are all of the above mentioned amenities.

About the owner: In their former lives..Steve was a trial attorney, and Marie-Louise was an executive for a large cable TV telecommunications company. Feeling 'burned out' in their careers, they decided to re-invent themselves as bed and breakfast innkeepers.
Why the Owner Chose Virginia Beach:
Steve and Marie-Louise loved living in the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area of Virginia since moving here in 1996. Virginia Beach has so much to offer that they didn't want to move from the area.

With the beach and ocean only a short walk, many excellent restaurants within a short walk or drive, year round fishing, golf, and other outdoor activities, museums, theater, symphony, opera, minor league sports teams and great shopping, Virginia Beach has everything one could want in a city. Although Virginia's largest city, the population is spread out over almost 400 square miles giving Virginia Beach a more rural feel.
