Severance chalet description
Beautiful family summer home is a lake front tree house. You will be living directly above the lake in the trees, like the Swiss Family Robinson. A 50' x 18' multi-level deck is partially covered with a clear roof for enjoyment regardless of the weather. Swimming in the lake is perfect.
A short drive to the Adirondack High Peaks trail heads makes this the perfect base camp for hiking and other outdoor activities. Relax after hiking in charming Lake Placid. Nearby is Fort Ticonderoga for a historical day outing. Vermont is ferry ride away. Just 45 minutes to the Great Escape amusement park in Glens Falls.
Inside the cottage is a large great room with full kitchen, living and dining areas. Kitchen has all new appliances and all kitchen tools. There is also a washer and dryer.
The bathroom is newly remodeled. Two bed rooms with queen size beds, and a big loft for the kids. For extra guests there is a sleeping porch, fully screened in.
On the deck is plenty of seating (2 picnic tables plus Adirondack chairs!) for dining and lounging, and a large new gas grill.
At the lake front is a floating dock for swimming and lounging, changing house and toilet. Provided are 2 kayaks and a canoe. In the summer the water is very warm and comfortable. Public boat ramp is at the state park, and you can park your boat at our dock.

Cannot speak highly enough of this cabin. With your pajamas and a warm mug, when you wake up in the morning, you are greeted by a long deck that points toward a beautiful picture with the pine trees as a picture frame. This is my favorite part. The cabin is on a slope, so when you're at the edge of the deck you're about 15 to 20 feet off the ground looking through a perfect hole in the trees for a view of the lake. The lake was warm when we were there. The inside of the Cabin is the equivalent to a moderate to small cape. Running water, fireplace. So Good! There is a corner store right down the road. Also a descent restaurant. If nothing else this cabin absolutely needs to be on your list to come and see.

Family Winter Getaway
Family Winter Getaway
My family and I stayed at this lovely cabin during the winter. We didn't take advantage of nearby skiing, but certainly could have. Views from the large deck are spectacular, and we loved to watch the sun peaking through the trees in the morning. We weren't able to enjoy the lake due to the cold, but did spend time at the shore - would have been fantastic in the summer! Bedrooms were comfortable, and the remodeled bathroom is very nice. The great-room was fantastic! We enjoyed quality family time and games next to a roaring fire! The kitchen is modern and convenient as well. We plan to return this summer so we can enjoy the cabin and the lake.

Amazing indoor and outdoor paradise
Amazing indoor and outdoor paradise
This is a truly amazing place. My friends and I rented this cabin for a week for a sort of wholesome "bachelor weekend" before a friend's wedding. It was late May, but it was already warm, and the lake was great for swimming. By June or later in the summer, the water's probably incredibly warm. The owners aren't kidding when they say there's a ton to do in the area. It's a very short drive to the "High Peaks" region of the Adirondacks where the most popular hiking is, and there are some other, less used trails around Pharaoh Lake (around 10 mins drive) that are just as pretty but a lot less busy (we experienced both regions). The cabin itself is gorgeous, and really fulfills the fantasy of a "rustic cabin" without actually sacrificing any amenities. The owners clearly take really good care of it. It was comfortable for a big group of guys (we had 12 up there at one point), but if you just had a family it would probably be even better. The porch is huge, comfortable, and has a great view of the water. The kitchen and bathroom are surprisingly nice (I was expecting something rustic, but this was nicer than my actual house). The furniture was comfortable and fit in with the decor... I really can't say enough good things. It's spacious, pretty, a nice location, great swimming, great little boats (two kayaks and a canoe!), great dock, great everything. And this place would be GREAT for a couples weekend. I'm planning on bringing my wife up here as soon as I can find the time!!!

About the owner: This is our family second home. We bought it quite run down, and while the boys were growing up would spend all summer repairing and refurbishing the place. Currently our boys are grown, married, and working on graduate degrees, so for the time being the home is available to you for rental. We hope you will find this place as wonderful as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Severance:
This is the perfect vacation home for us. My wife and boys love to swim, I love to hike. There are endless things to do in the area, and while it's close to town it's not too close. It's close enough to be on the lake, but because of the height above the lake it gets breezes, and is protected from most of the bugs. When you sit on the deck, you will see what we are talking about!
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
This has the best of many worlds. Great lake swimming, hiking, historic site, fun tourist sites. You can relax or stay busy its your choice at our place.
