Ideal Location, Apartment & Hosts

Our 2nd visit to PRINX was as rewarding as the first. As avid international travelers who always rent apartments (and have had experience with several others in Amsterdam), this apartment is ideal. The photos are fully representative of size, style and location. Hector and Ton are superb hosts, with excellent and prompt follow up. No question or need is too small. The location is absolutely the best. Walking distance to museums, restaurants, shopping, groceries, the Leisplein, trams - and the adjacent antiques district is fun to explore. Though the apartment is close to a lively area, it is far enough away to be very quiet (outside & in). The apartments are very comfortable with their modern design and layout (we've stayed in 2 of the 3 now). Our next visit will definitely be the canal side so we have to plan ahead - for our Amsterdam home away from home - PRINX!

My wife and I found Ton and Hector very accommodating! The rooms we stayed in were immaculate and beautifully decorated! The location was ideal for exploring the museums and we were a short walk from public transportation to head into the heart of Amsterdam! When we venture back to Amsterdam, we will be sure to book with Prinx Studio!

Ton and Hector are wonderful hosts. The studio was quiet, clean and close to everything! The weather was wonderful and they had chairs for you to sit and relax canal side and watch the small crafts cruise by. I would highly recommend this location to my friends!

We've been to Amsterdam several times over a period of 30 years, but this is the first time we've stayed a whole week. Because of that, we wanted somewhere with a bit more scope for relaxation than a standard hotel room. Prinx Apartments was certainly that. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, plenty of cupboard space and an attractive sitting area with a dining table too. We looked over a quiet and pretty canal. The bathroom was small but adequate, and there was an excellent kitchen. I have to admit we only used this for breakfast, but it seemed to have everything you would need to cook an evening meal. The location was brilliant too - very close to Museumplein and Leidseplein, an area with loads of restaurants and bars. We could esily have eaten at a different restaurant for a mionth, but they were just far enough away not to disturb us at night. Particularly recommended are Mayur (indian - ranked 9 in Tripadvisor's Amsterdam restaurnats) and Onder Ons. Leidseplein also has a tourist office where you can buy tickest and I Amsterdam cards and several tram routes and the bus-stop for Schipol were close by. Ton gave us a friendly welcome and, a nice touch, left a bottle of cava in the fridge. There is free wifi. The only warning I would give is that it would not be suitable for those with mobility problems. It is a genuine canal house so, inevitably, the stairs are narrow and steep. Other than that - perfection!

Modern, chic studios in the museum district, hosted by the lovely Ton & Hector. Get a room facing the canal if you can, for sunlit mornings and pretty views at night. Perfect location near the City Center, a block away from the museums, and a stroll to the open air markets. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when I'm back in the 'Dam.

“Our new favorite Amsterdam lodging!” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam I'm no stranger to Amsterdam. I love it there and upon my 6th trip back... I was in search of a place to stay... Unfortunately with inflation, i couldn't get over how much more expensive hotels were now!! Especially since I love to stay in the Leidseplein area! Anyhow, I opted to look for an apartment this time and found Prinx. The reviews looked good and the priced ended up being better than a hotel for considering the space you get, plus kitchen, etc. Prinx is totally easy to find... just about 2 blocks away from the main Leidseplein (which was where the tram stopped from Central Station anyhow). Unfortunately, there is no lift since its an original home. The owners were totally nice, very friendly and helpful. The room itself was great! it was spacious and modern and provided everything we needed for our weekend getaway. Free wireless internet too! I loved that we were able to pay in cash because I hate credit card foreign fees. I'm definitely hoping to stay here again from now on when we come to visit Amsterdam! Thanks for the complementary bottle of bubbly!

“Highly Recommend Prinx” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam I don't have much to add that hasn't been said here before. Just wan't to say that the glowing reviews are all true. I booked this place on the strength of its Tripadvisor rep and I'm very, very happy I did. Myself and my husband have been to Amsterdam 5 or 6 times now and we'd yet to find the perfect place to stay until we tried Prinx. Firstly- it's exactly as it looks in the pictures- nicer and larger even than the pictures suggest. It's much, much bigger than a hotel room. It's scrupulously clean. The furnishingsand fittings are of a high quality. Ton and Hector are very friendly and helpful, without being in your face! The location is great. We got the bus from the airport to Leiseplein - 4E, 2 mins walk from the apartments. It's near the antiques quarter, the Pijp, Leidseplein, the canals. Just perfect. No complaints at all. I hope one of the studios is free every time we visit Amsterdam. Well done Ton and Hector!

“Great place, great location, great owners!” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam My best friend and I traveled to Amsterdam April 22 and stayed at the Prinx Apartment for four nights. This was the perfect spot for us. The place was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location is close to the Rijk Museum and is very close to plenty of nightlife and restaurants. We had a great time exploring the neighborhood and hope that the Prinx is available next time we head to Amsterdam. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone ready to have a fun, relaxing time in a beautiful city! Loved it!!

“Convenient location, lovely outlook and friendly hosts” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam We stayed for 14 nights in the larger canal-side studio apartment. A beautiful outlook over the tranquil canal and such a convenient location - a short walk to the Rijksmuseum, to the tram, and to shops/supermarkets and cafes. The apartment was spotless, the beds very comfortable, good heating, plenty of hot water. The hosts are very friendly and was very easy to book with them via email from overseas; Ton was wonderful and so helpful. Great to have internet access available. A couple of small things that would have made our stay even better - would have liked to have had an information folder in the room with local map with location of apartment and supermarket/tram/laundromat etc marked; also would like full height chairs to sit at the table rather than the lower arm chairs. Thank you Ton and Hector - loved our stay.

“As good as it gets..” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam If you have ever been to Amsterdam and admired the lovely apartments as you strolled the streets, then this gives you the opportunity to sample what it is like to actually live in one. My wife, little boy and I stayed for 4 nights (3 nights in the canal view room, and one to the rear). Whilst we preferred the slightly roomier canal view room, both were to a very high standard (would love to know who their tiler was - quite the best tiling I have ever come across). The shower room / loo, was quality boutique hotel standard, whilst the main room was beautifully appointed (shabby chic sort of describes it). The hotel is really handy to Leidisplein (roughly 10 minutes from the bus-stop to the apartment) - don't get a taxi from the airport - the bus is cheaper and possibly quicker. Ton and Hector were very helpful and charming. This is my 4th trip to Amsterdam, and this was the best accomodation, and ironically, the cheapest. My next trip to Amsterdam I will be staying in Prinx again. Thank you Ton and Hector.

“Like a gift from Sinterklaas!” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam | Trip type: Solo travel The second-floor canal apartment was cozy, comfortable, clean and conveniently close to Vondelpark, museums, bio market, coffee, waffles. :) Rieneke was helpfully present at just the right times and, as if on cue, Sinterklaas arrived by motorboat in the canal below. All lovely. Highest recommendations.

“Cosy, romantic canal setting” | Trip type: Couples | My husband & I spent 7 days @ Prinx and the service was excellent. We stayed in the canal room which was at once romantic and vibrant. The room is immaculately clean! On our last night we kidded with Ton (one of the owners) about how picky I can be when traveling but I had no complaints - nice room...

“The Best” Prinx Studio Apartments Amsterdam Kitchen with everything you need, Living-Dining area. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. My fiance and I stayed at Prinx for 4 nights in September on a month-long trek around Europe. This was easily the cleanest, nicest place we stayed at on our trip and is great value for the cost. It was in a convenient, safe location, it was close to bio market, albert heijns grocery, museums, bike rentals, transit and there were some great restaurants nearby as well. The room was equipped with a small kitchen which was very useful for saving money on meals. Ton (the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful and provided good directions and advice. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for quieter location just outside of the downtown tourist core, but still within easy walking distance. I will definitely stay there again the next time I am in Amsterdam.

“Charming, Great Location, Very Hospitable” | Trip type: Business 2 | My husband and I recently stayed at Prinx, and it was a very pleasant experience. My husband was there for work, and while he was away at work every day, I was able to enjoy the museums that are literally across the canal from the Prinx apartments. That, and Ton and Hector were perfect hosts, very kind and attentive without being overbearing. The windows let in so much natural light, it felt quaint and grand at the same time. The kitchen is small, but perfect for a few cook in dinners in case you are looking to save a little money, or just want to enjoy a dinner in. Everything was clean, nice, and close to many many restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this place!

“A perfect quiet spot if you care about location and aesthetics, and price” | Trip type: Friends getaway l I had a perfect, 10 out of 10 stay at the Prinx. Myself and two friends could only be in Amsterdam for three days, on the tail end of a trip to Belgium. We had spent most of our money already, but our standards are high and we wanted to be in a great location. Prinx proved to be the perfect spot for us. They accommodated all three of us in a beautiful room, with extra beds all of which were very very comfortable. The house is along a beautiful canal in a very hip part of town, but two blocks away from the action so it's quiet and peaceful in the apartment. Service was exceptional. We missed a connecting train on our way to Amsterdam and so we didn't arrive until almost midnight. We also didn't have a cell phone so had a hard time communicating about our arrival. But when we arrived at the apartment, there was Alan, one of Ton and Hectors friends/associates, waiting outside for us as promised to open up the place and help us get settled. Other nice details like complimentary champagne in the fridge are just a reflection of the attitude of the owners of Prinx. Genuinely thoughtful, smart, and hip. I'll stay in the Prinx again, and would recommend anyone looking for a bed and breakfast while in Amsterdam to do the same.

“Great Room/Great Location/ Great Hosts” | Trip type: Couples | This is a very special place. The location was great. Everything was as stated and if anything was better than expected. Try to get a canal side room - it really is worth the little extra expense. The owners are very helpful and truly made us feel welcome. This is the the way to see the city- stay and act like and shop like a local. Enjoy!

“A modern studio apartment in the heart of Amsterdam” | Trip type: Couples | This place can be hard to find because it is a historic building along a quiet one way street with no visible markings, but once inside you find yourself in a very modern, chic, and comfortable place. We stayed there upon our arrival in Amsterdam and then again when we left, and so we stayed in both a canal view apartment and one of the regular ones; both were comfortable and well appointed, but the canal view apartment was the best. You are literally two blocks from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, and a quick tram ride or 15 minute walk from the historic downtown, but the street itself is surprisingly quiet. There are many cafes around, but be warned that if you are an early riser and want to go out for breakfast, the only place for blocks around that is open before 10 is an all-night sports bar a few blocks away. However, there is a small kitchenette and an organic grocery two blocks away, so you can prepare your own meals if you choose. The hosts, Héctor and Ton, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, and we found a free, chilled and very tasty bottle of Cava (Spanish sparkling wine) in the fridge both times we checked in. The bathrooms are modern, but some tissues, a washcloth, and a hairdryer would have been appreciated. Also, as with most old Dutch buildings, there are one to two narrow and very steep staircases to climb to get to the rooms, so people who are physically frail or hauling heavy suitcases may fare poorly. The rates are not cheap, but cost less than most nice hotels and give you much more privacy and quiet and an experience of actually living in the city.

“Wonderful!” | Trip type: Couples | My wife and I stayed at their Haarlemmerdijk location for 5 nights of our honeymoon and later stayed at their Lijnbaansbragcht location on our way back home and had a wonderful time. Both apartments were very modern, exceptionally clean, and in great locations! The Haarlemmerdijk apartment was within walking distance (with luggage) from Central Station on the Northeast side of the Jordaan neighborhood which is one of the most beautiful, quiet neighborhoods in Amsterdam. The Lijnbaansbragcht location was equally wonderful. It's right in the middle of Amsterdam, a great place to stay if you want to see absolutely everything. It was so nice to be able to cook breakfast and lunch for ourselves. We didn't get to meet Hector, but Ton was as nice as could be and very helpful. We will certainly stay with them again on our next visit!

“High Style, Low Price” | Trip type: Family | Hector and Ton (the owners) did such an exceptional job with providing the very best for a very reasonable price. I've never stayed in such a hotel/apartment/etc on vacation that was so immaculate. Every detail was an architectural modernistic wonder...especially the bathrooms! The value for the accommodation is spectacular, huge windows, sumptuous furniture, etc. The only issue I encountered was their wi-fi couldn't seem to work with my Iphone but other than that was truly impressed. This was my first visit to Amsterdam and I only spent 48 hours here. If you've never been here before I highly recommend some sort of handheld GPS/PDA that will work here because otherwise I would've never found my way. Street names are incredibly long and with all the canals and tight turns, everything seems to look alike! The owners here took great personal pride in building, maintaining, and running this place...it's evident as they have the top floor above the rental units. The staircase is steep, but as Ton pointed out that can be helpful as one can literally "crawl" up after a fun night out. You will love this place and truly find it refreshing to have some peace and quiet away from the other tourists as it fronts a canal and acts as your own private retreat. Bravo Hector & Ton!

“Great canalside location” | Trip type: Couples | Just spent a long weekend here. Had a great time. We stayed in the first floor studio apartment overlooking the canal. Its a great location - near to all the stuff you want to see but far enough away from the noise. Very clean and comfortable. The only thing missing was a toaster!

“Fantastic” | Trip type: Business, Couples | We stayed here in Dec 08. Fantastic studio apartment. Not huge, but had everything we needed. Great location, we walked everywhere. We caught the tram to Leidseplein when we got there (it's then about a 5min walk from there), and when we left we actually walked back to Centraal. Not too far at all, probably took us about 30mins. Pretty quiet spot on the canal, which was great, even on the Friday & Saturday night. Some great restaurants nearby, and nice cafe's for breakfast. We booked through the hotel's website, and were contacted by the owners (Ton & Hector) by email to arrange, we were then met by Alan who was really nice and friendly and gave us a local map etc to start us off. We would definately stay here again when we return to Amsterdam.

“Best place to stay!!” | Trip type: Couples | My husband and I were looking for a place to stay for a week in Amsterdam. We were looking at all the hotels but they were a little on the expensive side and we definitely did not want to end up in an expensive bad hotel. So because of the great reviews I decided to contact the owners of this apartment to see if they had an opening. They did and we booked for 7 days 6 nights. We stayed in the larger studio with a canal view. We contacted the owners completely by email. They called us to confirm everything. We were met promptly on arrival by Alan. Everything was perfect and clean. They gave us a great rate for staying extended. Alan was available by email or note to answer any questions we had. The studio is in a great location on a quiet canal street but within walking distance to all of the sites. The city centre is only a 15 minute walk away and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. If you stay longer than a few days you will need laundry service which can be found across the bridge and one street over. They also have grocery stores nearby. Also the studio has free Wifi which is a definite plus. The place was so perfect that we booked three extra nights on our return from Italy and we will be returning back here anytime we are coming for a visit to Amsterdam.

“A perffect spot!” | Trip type: Couples | We booked our unit thru trip advisor, and were delighted! We wanted a central location, a quiet street,a kitchen, and on a canal. We got all four, and more! Our hosts were great before we even arrived, answering our e-mails immediately. They gave good directions, and even tho we arrived in the dark, the taxi had no problems. And tho we arrived two hours early, our apt. was ready and our hosts were there to welcome us. We loved ending our days having a beer at the little pub right on the corner, there was a grocery very close by, and bus lines minutes away. We could walk everywhere, tho we did rent bikes (a must). The apt. itself was spotless, cozy, and eveything we had hoped for. We never saw our hosts unless we needed something-then they were there immediately. We did suggest that they provide a map for guests with nearby grocery, and laundromat. I would also suggest asking how they want you to contact them, should you have a question. We found ourselves slipping notes under their door.

“Cute, clean, and comfortable” | Trip type: Couples | My wife and I recently stayed at the Prinx apartments for 1 week. We really loved it. In fact, we slept a lot more that we usually do because we felt so relaxed. The location is very central, close to museums, shopping, pubs and it is easy to walk everywhere. However, if you need to use the tram, it is also near by. The apartments were spotlessly clean. To me, this is very important and I was not at all disappointed. The room is a little small but I think rooms tend to be small in Amsterdam. It was great to have a kitchen. There is a grocery store 5 minutes away (Dirk Van Den Broek) and it is really a nice walk to get there. We didn't eat out a lot when we were there but if you do, Walk to Wok is close and very tasty and cheap. I would highly recommend these apartments as they are clean, in a good location, and private. We brought along our computer and it was a nice way to communicate with the owners if we needed anything. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone who wants affordable accomodations that are very nice.

“Excellent apartment!!! Excellent location!!!” | Trip type: Family | We are just back from a 1-week stay at the Prinx apartments. After searching all the available hotels and B&B's in Amsterdam we finally decided on Prinx studio. But, we were too late to confirm our stay and all the studios were booked before us... We were dissapointed but accepted Ton&Hector's offer to stay at the 1+1 apartment on Haarlemmerdijk Street. This was our first time in a vacation apartment instead of a 4-5 star hotel so, we didn't know what to expect. But, Ton was so nice and helpfull. As soon as we arrived in the apartment, we were so happy about our choice. The apartment is located on a very lively street with all the stores, restaurants, cafes and pubs. It is very close to the Central Station so it was very easy to get there from the airport by train. A great supermarket, Albert Heijn is right accross from the apartment. It is open daily 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. and offers all kinds of ready-to-eat food, fresh fruits and veggies, bakery. You should definitely try their freshly baked croissents for breakfast. The apartment is very spacious and has everything you will need. We were not planning to eat much at the apartment but because eating out was so expensive in Amsterdam and it was easier not to look for a place to eat with a two-years-old girl, we ended up having breakfasts and dinners at home. And we enjoyed it so much... Especially when feeling tired after daily sightseeing, we were looking forward to get back to the apartment, sitting by the window and having our drinks. Even our doughter loved it there so much, she didn't want to come back home!!! By the way, there were 1 set of towels for each person, two rolls of toilett papers, liquid hand wash and a hair dryer in the bathroom. But no shampoos, no shower gel or caps. But you can get them at the store called ETOS, 50 meters down from the apartment. I also ended up getting some napkins and paper towels for the kitchen and some cleaning stuff for the bathroom and toilett (from Albert Heijn). Also, we realized after settling in the apartment that there were no extra set of sheets. But, if you ask for it in advance, I'm sure it won't be a problem for Ton. After all, this was a great catch and we have already recommended it to our friends here. Looking forward to going bac
