We just returned from spending 10 days in Maui at this house. Upon arrival, at 10:00pm, Curtis greeted us & showed us around the house. He continued to be very helpful throughout our time there, recommending places to eat & things to do. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils & everything that we needed to prepare some of our meals. The house worked well for our family of 7, with 2 children. There was a pack &play for the baby & also a high chair available for our use. The play room was also a great addition. The play area outside was also fun for our 2 year old grand-daughter. The only negative for our family, would be the distance to the beach. It is about a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk, which makes it difficult for early morning walks on the beach or late evening walks. I would recommend this listing to others who are considering going to Maui, as it was a pleasant experience for our family. :-)

Owner response: Aloha Amy, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The 3-5 minute drive from the beach is often listed as a great plus . The guests who were in the house during the tsunami were overjoyed to be uphill and a safe short distance above the beach. Some of our guests with small children point out they don't have to worry about the kids scooting across busy Kihei Rd. while the parents are cooking barbeque and ending up in the waves. We like to think of the short distance from the beach as a plus rather than a minus. We are really looking forward to your return. Thank you so much for being our honored guests. Mahalo, Curtis and Lynne

We had a great time in Hawaii and we liked the House. The location is very close to the Wailea Village Shopping Center and is only a couple of blocks from an excellent snorkeling reef and beach. We had five adults and two children and the house and outdoors are large enough to spread out and enjoy. The kitchen was well equipped and the outdoor barbeque was great. The owner and his sister are very nice people and were easy to work with in making our vacation plans. There were some issues of deferred maintenance with the house, however. The toilet in the master bedroom was leaking through the wax seal and we had to continually put towels around the toilet to contain toilet water. Also, in another bathroom, the flush handle on the toilet was broken and every time the toilet was flushed, the lid for the tank had to be removed to free the chain from the flapper in the tank. One final issue that should be disclosed in the listing for the property is that attached to the house are two rooms with a separate entrance that is being rented by a young woman and her three-year old daughter. It did not turn out to be a problem, but it was surprising that we were sharing the rental of the property.

This is a very pleasant home with a wonderful yard and play area. It was a bit strange at first to realize this is one of three rental properties on the lot, with one being an attached studio to the main house. However, the other renters did not bother us at all and were friendly. The kitchen and barbeque were great, everything very well stocked, however the pantry requires a deep cleaning as ants were a problem. We had a 2 and a 4 year old and they loved the play room. Nice comfy furniture in the TV room, good parking area, and the best was the beautiful outdoor eating area.

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed the house and the other friendly residents on the property. Unfortunately, everyone loves the tropics, including crawly creatures. People who live in more northern climates often assume that if they see a bug, it means things are not clean. Although it is true that even one small crumb left on a counter top will immediately attract ants, small creatures are a reality of the tropics.

We put 8 people in this place with room to spare! We have four young children and the grandparents came along. The grandparents were the ones who said it best. "Wow. This place is amazing!" If you have kids, this is the best place we could imagine. In fact that's why we chose it. Our 4 and 6 year old called the backyard "The Playground" and probably had as much fun out there on the swing set and "fort" as they did at the beach. I particularly loved the oversized granite island where I could easily serve the kids breakfast or snacks. And what about that HUGE Bougainvillea TREE out back! That was amazing. And the banana tree and avocado tree, and the huge hibiscus. It was like living in a garden. With two living areas, it was great for separating the kids from the adults occasionally. They could play and make noise while Granddad watched TV in the next room. Curtis treated us so well. We can't wait to go back.

This house located in a quiet neighborhood was very spacious for three couples. The grounds are extremely well maintained, with a beautiful patio, BBQ, table and chairs, as well as playground equipment. The house was not very clean and short on supplies. When calling for more toilet paper, we were told to purchase our own. However, after talking with the owner, he immediately took care of the situation, and provided us with more soap, washcloths and hand towels. If this house has a thorough cleaning and is kept up, I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Owner response: We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the house and the grounds, and that you would not hesitate to recommend us to others. We apologize for the lapse in cleaning: we've updated our procedures and spoken to our cleaning crew to prevent this one-time occurrence from happening in the future, and also refunded the cleaning fee to you. Regarding the bathroom supplies, this was resolved to your satisfaction. Overall, we're pleased you had a good time at the house and in Maui. Mahalo!

My stay at the house was absolutely fantastic! The house itself is built in a "U" shape surrounding a private courtyard (w/built in BBQ) with big open windows, giving it a very Hawaiian feel. The kitchen was well appointed and comfortable. The owners have everything well labeled and easy to find. My visit was in November, and the weather was absolutely perfect, letting us keep the windows open, fans circling lazily, and it was perfectly comfortable. I would be remiss, however, if I didn't also mention the amazing second floor hot tub with views of the nearby ocean. The house is inside a housing development, so I can't exactly call it "private", but it was amazing relaxing up there, watching the sun set. I really wish they had pictures posted! Overall, it was an excellent stay and I would definitely recommend this property.

There were 8 of us who stayed at the "Cool Maui House" including 1 child, 2 toddlers and a person in a wheelchair. The layout of the house was perfect for our group, giving everyone enough room and very accessible for the wheelchair. The owners had left out a wooden ramp that we used which was very much appreciated and the kids loved the large yard, the play structure and the boxes of toys. The location was perfect..... a nice quiet area close to the highway, beaches, groceries, gas station and much more. There were alot of cockroaches that came out once it was dark so it made it a little "scary" to sit on the patio at night but maybe that's normal in Hawaii (we don't have cockroaches here!) The condition of the house was average, however we did feel that a little more upkeep would really make the place sparkle! The few questions/concerns we had when we arrived were quickly dealt with by a phone call to the owner. One thing that we felt should have been mentioned is that there is a suite attached to the house and someone does live on the property. We did meet the person that lives there and there were no problems, but felt that it should have been mentioned prior. All in all it was a great house that was well stocked and was perfect for our situation. Wish we were going back soon!

Our family, including adult children and a two year old rented this property. Very clean, lovely decor, roomy with many seating areas inside and out are just a few reasons that staying here was a pleasure. We were thrilled with the view from the upstairs jacuzzi, the ceiling fans and comfortable beds in every room. Close to the Pilani Hwy and the most desirable local beaches, quiet neighborhood, and many amenities including playground equipment. It was home away from home, but much better. The only negative was I had to go back home!

We had a great time staying at the Cool Maui House, it is a very nice, clean, spacious, and the owner was also a real pleasure to meet and very accommodating. We made excellent use of the movie room after watching the sunset while soaking in the hot tub (sounds crazy when it is so warm, but after a day surfing it is the best). We definitely recommend this place to anyone who is planning on going to Maui.

We had such a good time. The house is very spacious, comfortable, and was just as described. The yard was big and beautiful. View from the hottub was fantastic. Very clean, well equipped, modern kitchen, stacking washer & dryer. Air-conditioning, large fans in every room. Children's playroom. Conveniently located, easy to find, quiet. All amenities were close at hand as were the beaches, attractions, shopping, grocery stores, and restaurants. So many interesting things to see and do, including various activities, going to the Plantation (the ribs at Bruda Williie's are sooo good.) all the scenic drives, too much to see and do to tell it all. Just have to go and see for yourself. The owners are great to deal with, there were lots of extras such as beach equipment, entertainment room, the house book made everything easy. We had all ages in our group, and the setup of the house made it so easy to travel togeather. We will certainly be looking forward to going back!

We had a great time in Maui and I highly recommend this house. We had 7 adults and 1 child and there was more than enough room for all of us. The house and grounds are exactly as pictured and described on the website, and everything is very well-maintained. It was neat, clean, and spacious, and the information in the Welcome-binder was much appreciated as it contained the answers to any questions that we had about the house and how things worked. The owners were also very helpful in answering questions before we arrived and during our stay. The neighbourhood is very quiet and we had a very relaxing stay. The kitchen is very well equipped, with cooking utensils and basic cooking supplies(spices, oil, etc.). The location is great, with Foodland, Safeway, and the beaches all just a short drive away. It was the perfect home away from home, and we would be very happy to stay there again! :)
