Get away from it all on a quiet road in the country.

In the winter, there is great downhill skiing and snowboarding for beginners and children at Bousquet, Butternut or Catamount Ski areas, which are all within a half hour of the house. Jiminy Peak offers challenges for more advanced skiers and is only 20 minutes from the house. You can also cross-country ski on numerous local trails, sled at local parks, and visit museums.

In the spring, watch the snow melt, smell the fresh air, and watch the trees and flowers bud out. Explode into the outside once again with hikes, bikes, walks and background playing.

In the summer, listen to the birds, relax on the deck, eat under the umbrella, play tennis down the road, go swimming at a private beach 3 miles away and go to Tanglewood, Williamstown Theater Festival, Jacob's Pillow or dozens of other cultural offerings. On a rainy day visit the Clark Art Institute, MassMOCA, the Norman Rockwell Museum or many other nearby museums. In the evening make a fire in the outdoor fire ring, cook a lovely meal and listen to music.

In the fall, see the spectacular fall foliage, hike in the crisp air, go apple picking, toast marshmallows over a fire, snuggle up to read in an easy chair, make cookies in a well equipped kitchen, visit museums, go to the theater or just sit around and socialize and relax.

Enjoy staying in a sunny, spacious, comfortable home with hardwood floors, a working fireplace, a sun porch, and a porch off the master bedroom. In the nice weather, you can sit in a swing by the pond, walk through the woods in the back, barbecue and eat on the deck, let the children play on the jungle gym and in the yard. Within 3 miles you can play tennis or bring the kids to the playground down the road or drive to Queechy Lake and take a swim and let the kids play in the sand. In the evening cook in a well equipped kitchen, which is part of a 'Great Room' (so you can socialize while you cook) using food from local farm stands and eat a relaxed dinner at home. After dinner take a walk and see the beautiful starry night or catch fireflies. If its cool, make a fire in the outside fire pit or in the indoor fireplace. Listen to music as you play cards or socialize and go to sleep to the quiet of nature.

If you're feeling adventurous, there are endless activities to do within a 40 minute drive. The New York-Berkshire area has so many trails to hike or cross country ski, mountains to ski, routes to bicycle, lakes to swim in or boat on, museums to visit, theater/music/dance to enjoy and great restaurants to eat at. You'll have to come back next year to see and do it all.

The house is home to two beautiful cats who will not be in the house during a rental. I have had people stay in the house who are allergic to cats, but with medication have done fine. The house is meticulously cleaned and vacuumed before any rentals, but if anyone in your party is super allergic to cats, they may react to some of the dander inherent in a house where cats live.

The house is equidistant from Boston and New York, making it an ideal place for a reunion/gathering with people from both cities.

No pet visitors please.

Let me welcome you to my home and show you around.

Becky was so sweet and showed us around as soon as we arrived. I came with 4 friends of mine and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Our favorite was the fire pit outside and when the sun went down we could see nothing but stars! In Brooklyn we don't see many stars so this was a really treat. The Milky Way was super clear. I know there is stuff in the area to do, but we stayed at the house and cooked and relaxed. Loved it!

We are a three generation family. Our son and daughter-in-law were in the US for a few weeks with their one-year old baby and we wanted a weekend in the country during foliage season, as our daughter-in-law had never seen the seasons change in this area. A few days away gave us all a great opportunity to be together and see the great foliage in early October. Becky was very gracious and generous with advice and information before we came. She secured a port-a-crib so we did not have to bring one with us. The house is very comfortable and spread out -- a much larger group could have been easily accommodated. In addition to the three bedrooms, there are two sitting room/dens which have extra beds or pullout couches. One of these rooms has a wood-burning fireplace and there is also a nice screened in porch. Outside there are well-tended gardens and a fire-pit in addition to lounging chairs and a hammock. Becky has a green thumb and even offered us a plant that she had grown from the many she had grown as offshoots of her large jade tree. The house is decorated very much as our own is, so we felt right at home, with touches from Mexico, China, and Ecuador. Nothing fancy but everything welcoming and lovely.

Even before we arrived, Becky went out of her way to accomodate our needs (details unnecessary). The house is open and airy and quite appealing to anyone who wants to take advantage of the regional attractions but still wants a place to retreat to relax and enjoy the country life. My family particularly enjoyed the chance to spend some time at the nearby lake, which provides both sun and shade, complete with lifeguards for the little ones. Oh, and Becky provides very good local information about where to buy groceries and other attractions... We will not hesitate to stay here again should we have the opportunity.

We had a lovely time staying at the house. My parents came down for a few days from Vermont, along with my Brother, Sister-In-Law and niece. So in all, it was myself, my husband, our kid, and 5 other people for half of the week, and we all fit comfortably. The kitchen is wonderful to cook in, as others can help, or congregate to chat. The property is nice to walk around, and hang around outside. We played crochet, played with the other yard games.

We rented this house for a winter weekend to go skiing at Jiminy Peak. We were two families (4 adults and 5 kids) and the house was great in terms of room to spread out, enough options for sleeping arrangements, and all the kitchen items we needed to cook. The great room is ideal for hanging out together, eating, cooking etc and there is a separate living room with fireplace as well as a tv room upstairs, so plenty of space to send the kids off to play or watch a movie. Also a backyard with a pond which the kids enjoyed exploring. There is no tv reception, but you can watch DVDs on the tv, and there is wifi as well. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is on the rustic side (no dishwasher, for example) but I think this adds to its charm.

Our party of eight, half from Boston and half from NYC, stayed three days at this property for our annual Thanksgiving feast. It was a great location for our get-together. The host was helpful and responsive; the house comfortable and roomy; the kitchen well-equipped. Becky was very thoughtful- she made sure we had everything we would need for a big cooking production, including leaving out extra flatware, aluminum roasting pans, and extra chairs and extensions for the dining table. (Unrelated: she has quite the green thumb- her houseplants are phenomenal.) The house is easy to get to, and feels more remote than it is. We enjoyed being able to see the stars for a change! With the holiday weekend, we didn't get out to do much sightseeing, but there's a lot to do and see in the area. The host provided tourist info with the rental contract and in the home for our arrival. The house is also well supplied with books and games for those who prefer to stay indoors around the fireplace. The allergic members of our group were well aware of the cats. Those with severe allergies should consider carefully. The bottom line: it was so nice to not have to host in one of our tiny city apartments. We'd stay again and recommend this property with pleasure. Thanks for a relaxing holiday!

Two families and Grandmother were in area to attend a summer wedding. We found the house and grounds to offer everything we needed and more. Spacious rooms, complete kitchen as described, sleeping spaces to fit any age and need, homey comfort, plus good variety of music selections and good reading from well stocked bookshelves in most rooms. Children enjoyed the jungle gym, chasing fireflies, and all of us enjoyed S'mores around the fire pit. Indeed, we must visit another time to take advantage of all the activities available in the nearby area.

This was an ideal house for our extended family vacation, very comfortable and in such a beautiful setting! Our group of two families with kids, plus Grandmother, fit perfectly during our five day stay. The kids loved the hammock swing in the great room / kitchen area, and the adults loved the comfort and ease of "feeling right at home." Becky was such an excellent, helpful host, and we had everything we needed. The property was beautifully maintained, and the experience exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend this property, and would love to come back again some day!
